  • James King and Dean Smith, best Mahler's tenor!

  • Great version, i really enjoy this piece. I especially enjoyed playing it in concert last Saturday 21st May.

  • I love this version, is great

  • Gorgeous, thanks for posting it.

  • the Concertgebouw Orchestra is one of the worlds great orchestras and a treasure, but the idea of naming an orchestra as the best, number 2, 3, 4, etc. is absurd. rather like saying one wine is the very best of the year. but it does make for fun boulevard reading and good party chit chat. gratitude to Haitink for his enormous gift to the world!

  • Hear, hear.

  • @jm960 You're right, makeing a generalization on what instrument, song, what orchestra, orchestra is the finest is very difficult because this is something that everybody has to decide for himself. Just because my friends say that this kind of music is out doesn't mean that I am of the same opinion, because I love this music. This is a great orchestra. If s.o. likes Strauss he'd go for V.Ph.O. maybe. If s.o. likes film music he'd go for the london symphonic Orchestra …

  • beautiful flute backing!

  • Gramophone voted the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra as the worlds greatest orchestra. Mariss Jansons is chief conductor now.

This christmas, on the 25th, there will be a live internet broadcast of them, done by MonteVerdi. Check out:
