That is very true but I don't think it will work on just picking a keyword, find an authority site and pay alot to let them place a link on their site.
I can't see how this will help Google find good quality content. What they will find is sites made by internet marketers trying to sell you something.
I would instead try finding authority one way link directories

Yes, it easy to waste alot of time on it, but I don't think that nofollow = no seo value. We have seen ranking shoot up after gaining a link.
As wil says, the traffic from wikip can be tasty BUT the conversion rate from that traffic has been, for us, very low indeed (less than 0.2%)
