Is it me or don't Japanese quite know how to act at a concert? There just like waving around and pointing their fingers, but it looks so unnatural :p They just copied our Western culture :p
6:20 that little part sounds exactly like something from Suck It And See!!!!!! You can definitely tell now that they were heading in that direction. I never noticed that when I watched their live stuff, I even saw them in Philly and didn't take that into account of how their new stuff may sound. Just shrugged it off and thought "Oh, that's cool and different."
@thestrokes241 sorry but i have to disagree with you. Potion Approaching and Fire and the Thud are both beautiful and kick ass! Alex's songwriting has matured heaps since their first album, which is saying a lot considering their first 2 albums were awesome and landmark in their own right. All bands need to change, if they dont, they get bagged for putting out the same old shit. Theyre still killer to me anyway. Although they now do lack energy, thank fuck they didnt go the way of Kings of Leon
@ohjames88 doesn't make much sense talking about maturity in writing and tunes. Fire and the thud was just cleaned up around the edges the original demo has been kicking about for yonks. So how has it changed if fire and the thud was written at the same time as old tunes as well as audio recording. what are you on about?
@saraj12 Well, regarding 'what im on about' it depends on weather you actually read my comment properly or not. Firstly I addressed two great songs, not just Fire and the Thud. Are you referring to the acoustic demo? The Humbug session and the Acoustic recording, although the same song are almost worlds apart sonically speaking (theres a whole band behind him now!) and im saying that as a musician & someone with recording experience.
@ohjames88 Yes we all know about the sonic development but what is the point in mentioning fire and the thud and the great lyrical development if the lyrics to that song were written years ago? Has the lyrical vocation changed? has it fuck! 88 implies your band rehearses in some middle class cunts garage, converse trainers, lumberjack shirts, shit renditions of the vines, the strokes or perhaps white stripes. And to make matters worse your fucking australian. What a horrific Nation! Franics Sky.
@saraj12 lol, resorting to racism only shows your ignorance and perhaps autism? 88 is just my favorite number sorry, deriving such stupid belligerent shit from a number like that can only lead me to believe you've got some mental birth defect. I understand why your having trouble grappling with the concept that some bands just get better. Your old. You're old and have nothing better to do than jerk off into a cup and abuse kids out of spite for being born talentless.
@saraj12 Lastly, if you took the time to read the comment i was originally addressing, you'd read this; "...first two albums were great all the way through but humbug has some shitty ones like potion approaching or fire and the Thud." I was addressing that statement. I think theyre both great songs. Mentioning how his writing had developed was not directly regarding that song and only that song. Read it to your self out loud. No where does it say "Fire and the thud shows Alex Turners ability...
@saraj12 ...improved since their first two albums. But i guess you went to school a long time ago and dont really need to read much, you just get your mum to do it for you?
@ohjames88 I agree with pretty much everything you've said your spot on, I was just fishing. The fallacy with the sentences being disconnected as well, your right, but I knew that originally. Australia is top drawer, though I am fearful of the snakes and spiders!!
@saraj12 Cont: Also, if you listen to how beautifully Humbug has been recorded as well as the depth of the material, its not hard to pick up on how moody and sexy the album is, especially compared to their previous releases, which are powerful and land mark efforts on their own. Last but not least, is it really so outlandish to suggest that his song writing has done nothing but improve? His vocal ability has also changed subtly too, he tends to croon a little more now, which started with the ...
@nikoloua92, just another indie band? i think youre way wrong! its the opposite, they've improve musically and lyrically to distinguish theirselves from the other bands! just try to compare them with another shitty bands and btw if you honestly care about the hair..i mean cmon what do you care how they look like! is so annoying when people care about the hair aishh! anyways i guess everyone has the right to give their opinions ..

i don't like very much the new arctic monkeys..monkeys were sounded childish and this was what made them different..they were something like the blur of the 00's..now they will get lost..just another indie band..nothing more..oh alex, you were much better with short hair,do me a favour was much better when sang like you used to..fluorescent adolescent also..that way they carried memories..come on,fluorescent adolescent is supposed t remind me of clowns,my first unlucky love..wake up..

@nikoloua92 i know exactly what ur talking about. they used to play with so much energy and thats why they were so great. now theyve kinda changed and there just another mediocre band with some good songs and some bad ones. theyre first two albums were great all the way through but humbug has some shitty ones like potion approaching or fire and the Thud. as for their look, it goes with their music. completely different and unrecognizable. btw jamie and nick kinda look like homeless ppl.
They're actually not going to play that song for the foreseeable future. It's off the list - of a time and place that they're simply not at anymore, same with Fake Tales and several others.
Between Fluorescent Adolescent and what? I saw them a week ago, they didn't play Mardy Bum; and they said in an interview with Zane Lowe that they wouldn't be playing it again.
Oh no, I went to one of their gigs about a month ago at the Metro Radio Arena, after they announced they would stop playing it. They played a little bit of it :)
@goshou actually there was a while they did play mardy bum during this tour. they played it replacing "only you know" during fluorescent adolescent. look it up, they played it a few shows starting from the sheffield show :D but then this year they replaced it again :( they keep changing that part so i wonder what they will play during that part when i see them when they play in AZ

@sumerez Jazzmaster; his Bronco is all black and anyway they're different shapes. I think he's retired the Bronco along with the Strats.

They play a portion of Mardy Bum during the 'where did you go?' bit in Flourescent Adolescent, to get the crowd excited.
