  • Too bad the person who uploaded this didn't take the time to give credit to the players. Like who is on piano, trumpet, etc.

  • I was just in a masterclass today taught by Dave Holland, and he listed two figures as his first listening encounters with jazz bass: Ray Brown and Leroy Vinnegar. I had never heard of Leroy, but now I'm glad I did! His lines are clear and fine... I hear a lot of his sound in DH's playing!

  • Thank you so much for posting this. Leroy Vinnegar was a fantastic bass player who really doesn't get enough recognition. When someone asks me about jazz bass I say "I have two words for you - Leroy Vinnegar"
