If Sri Sankara really was as humble as is depicted here, then I truly am impressed. Finally someone who took Sri Krishna's words to heart utterly:
"The humble sage, by virtue of true knowledge, sees with equal vision a learned and gentle brahmana, a cow, an elephant, a dog and a dog-eater [outcaste]."
The knower of the nectar-ocean of all the śāstra-s, the teacher of the upaniṣadic treasure, I meditate in my heart on your lotus feet; be thou my refuge, O preceptor Śaṁkara. (Totakashtakam 1, Translated by Ramesh Krishnamurthy)
“When limbs are weak and hair become grey… Doddering, old and toothless too… The decrepit moves with help of a walking-stick. (Even then) Man never gives up disires.”
Adi Shankaracharya portray is not done that well...his film deserves much more than this..poor direction , but shankaras part is well acted..I think this film has to be remade to meet what it has too...
Wonderful rendition by Dr Balamurali @ 8:30

This All-time classic has been further adorned by the magical composition and voice of Padma Vibhushan Dr. Balamurlikrishna.
A great movie. I saw this movie as a teenager , and have been extraordinarily moved since.

Does someone know the “Verse in Praise of Shankara” in Sanskrit?
I would appreciate it very much if someone could write here the lyrics.
I love this part of the movie.
Such fine verses from the mouth of an illiterate!
Shankara: "When death strikes, grammar don’t save us."

Nonsense. Who we bow down to is none of your business, watching this movie would be a waste for you if you make such comments
