  • Wonderful rendition by Dr Balamurali @ 8:30

  • Wonderful rendition by Dr Balamurali @ 8:30

  • Great Verse at 1:20 mins

  • If Sri Sankara really was as humble as is depicted here, then I truly am impressed. Finally someone who took Sri Krishna's words to heart utterly:

"The humble sage, by virtue of true knowledge, sees with equal vision a learned and gentle brahmana, a cow, an elephant, a dog and a dog-eater [outcaste]."

Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 5, Verse 18.

  • my fav part of the movie....the Chhandala's true words, Bhaja Govindam and in praise of Sri Adi Shankara........Tat Tvam Asi

  • what is the name of song at 1:30 ,... its really nice ...

  • @sandeep090984 1:112:07 “A verse in praise of Shankara” is called “Thotaka Ashtakam”.

    watch?v=n7I1RzMwI2I&feature=related

    viditākhilaśāstrasudhājaladhe mahitopaniṣat kathitārthanidhe

hṛdaye kalaye vimalaṁ caraṇaṁ bhava śaṁkara deśika me śaraṇam (Totakashtakam 1)

The knower of the nectar-ocean of all the śāstra-s, the teacher of the upaniṣadic treasure, I meditate in my heart on your lotus feet; be thou my refuge, O preceptor Śaṁkara. (Totakashtakam 1, Translated by Ramesh Krishnamurthy)

  • @sandeep090984 2:35 is called “Bhaja Govindam”

Samprapthe sannihithe kale, Nahi nahi rakshathi dookrunj karane.

"When death strikes, grammar doesn’t save us."

Angam galitham palitham mundam, Dasanaviheenam jatham thundam, Vruddho yathi gruheetha dhandam,Tadapi na munjathyaasa pindam.

“When limbs are weak and hair become grey… Doddering, old and toothless too… The decrepit moves with help of a walking-stick. (Even then) Man never gives up disires.”

  • This All-time classic has been further adorned by the magical composition and voice of Padma Vibhushan Dr. Balamurlikrishna.

A great movie. I saw this movie as a teenager , and have been extraordinarily moved since.

  • @German1184 : for the sanskrit words....refer "charpatmanjarika strotra" commonly called as 'Bhaja Govindam'

  • Does someone know the “Verse in Praise of Shankara” in Sanskrit?

I would appreciate it very much if someone could write here the lyrics.

I love this part of the movie.

Such fine verses from the mouth of an illiterate!

Shankara: "When death strikes, grammar don’t save us."

  • Adi Shankaracharya portray is not done that well...his film deserves much more than this..poor direction , but shankaras part is well acted..I think this film has to be remade to meet what it has too...

  • Bow before truth, no matter what embodies it.

  • never bow before anyone than God.

  • Nonsense. Who we bow down to is none of your business, watching this movie would be a waste for you if you make such comments

  • @xXBlackxRebelXx

    Pls tell me sir.
