  • Ringo's nose is too big.

  • A LIGHT IN THE CELLAR—The leaders of the Christian Right are purely in it for the money. They've reached an agreement w/the powers that be. Since 1947 Christians have lost EVERY major court case. We now have shops open on the Sabbath; abortion {infanticide}; a ban on school prayer; homosexual "marriage"; no-fault divorce & unmarried couples living together (the laws against this stand unenforced).

  • George looks damn hot at 0:13

  • Grew up with the Beatles and yeah this has got to be one of my favorites and yeah THEY invented MTV

  • Love Paul's bass line!

John, you'll always be in my heart...ditto for George.

  • this song and a hit of white blotter LSD in 1969 was probably the defining moment in my life.

  • I love this :)

  • It was first released in June 1966 as the B-side of the "Paperback Writer" single. Both songs were recorded during the sessions for Revolver but neither appears on that album.

  • @tamkukushka You're welcome, kid.

  • Which album is this song on? I'm guessing one of their earlier ones?

  • @Bumblebeebella1 it was released as a single but recorded along with paperback writer during the revolver sessions

  • Here's a video that shows greatness. And it shows who invented MTV.

  • The beatles at their acidic best.

  • I've never seen this video, thanks for sharing netsurfer :)

"Thats the first record with backwards music on it" lol...

  • Was this video filmed in Lennon`s house?

  • @jevitigre It was in the gardens of Chiswick House in West London

  • @sleeming88 was there a few days ago, in the conservatory and garden where it was filmed ; there's pictures of the Beatles in there with info. ; i've been a few times when the weather's nice ; s'got a large cafe an' all

  • THAT BASS TONE!!! GAH GOTTA LOVE IT!

  • Oh, Paul and his broken tooth... :/

  • its weird coz Paul McCartney was right handed but he couldn't manage to play right handed guitar so his dad had to get him a left handed one ! :) god bless the Beatles!

there music was inspirational :) x

  • @sallyg270 Actually, he's left handed. When he was younger he had to play the guitar upside down before he learned how to change the strings around to play left handed.

  • Why is Paul's tooth chipped? Please tell!

  • @PineApple1999icp he chipped it when he wrecked a Moped=)

  • @jonib83ify ok.........Thts cool :^/

  • @PineApple1999icp - He had been in car accident sometime before this video was filmed and had subsequently suffered a chipped, front tooth and cut lip from the accident.

  • rock gods xx

  • @TheTrollKing123 Thts ur opinion. To everyone else they rock. If u dont like them, then y r u here? Dumb people these days eh?

  • re backwards..

they were accused of embedding drug messages with backwards music, but this song only has the chorus reversed you can check it out with windows sound recorder.

eg. if you play back my name "Lance" backwards, you get "snail"

  • what does it mean that they recorded backwards?

  • @hrutujadiwan Backwards music means they recorded the song regularly, and then played it backward. At the end, they played the first verse backwards. However, this video doesn't include it for some reason. ;-/

  • Most Awesome Video EVER. It sounds like a different version than the American release...almost live.

  • what does george mean by backward music

  • You suck ass hole!

  • Aguanten Los Beatles!!!

  • John was a beautiful boy :>)!

  • Notice that this was added on the 29 of november? :(

  • did they out this song in a album or is a s single.

  • @bigggpun142 it was the b-side to Paperback Writer, the only albums its been on are the Past Masters and maybe a few compilation albums, non of their studio though

  • One of my earliest memories, this song. Great video for it. Never saw it before.

  • someone left the window open and now this place is full of BEES!!!

who let all these BEES in here?

    arrrrrrrg, i hate BEES!!!!

  • just a state of mind

  • Best drumming i've ever heard

  • P.S. check out those lucky kids in the video climbing the trees, in the same park on a video shoot with the Fab 4.

  • The little girl in the hat looks like my cousin, who swore she was in a Beatles video way back when.

  • God Bless Youtube...amen. This sounds like a live outtake.

  • @rowdymax1 This is good but I have heard it sung better by an Irish Rogue.

  • @mel4ever1

irish are hungry gingers who have done nothing for the world

  • @mel4ever1 rubbish

  • @hazifantazi the song and the beatles are fantastic, but your comment is rubbish

  • nice hair John! i love it! and ur so hot!

  • Comment removed

  • george is such a special person, he shines more then the others

  • hahah Paul cant smile here... Lol XD

  • Or was it shot at Kew Gardens?

  • It must be a state of mind. Absolutely Kiss ASS.

  • Tavistock's little project on getting the subconscious mind to look for backward messages in songs.

  • i think this is my favorite time in their musical careers. Just so expressive (and tripped out), but still simple in a sense.

Paul had a moped accident in December of that year, and chipped his tooth. I guess this was before it was fixed.

  • one of the first music videos ! they are truly musical gods they are the sons of Apollo :)

  • This is the ultimate psychedelic/rock song. If you listen to it while lying on the floor with the lights off and only a candle burning, you'll trip out without any drugs at all. Follow that with The Chambers Brothers' classic "Time" and you won't come down for a week. Natural highs; the best kind.

  • @KaptKan1 I remember when I didn't have headphones I would lay down & turn on my black lights & put my speakers next to my ears & listen to this song. And other songs of course.

  • Why does Paul have that chipped tooth?

  • Think this was filmed in the Palm house

in Sefton park, its still there i think.

  • This song is all about the bass line...one of my fave songs ever....

  • So this is where the Gallagher's drew their 'inspiration' of derivative music from - shhhhhine and slip into my mind...

Great beatle era but as for 'Oasis' the second coming was very disturbing.

  • the best band

  • 0:51 broken tooth?! cool...

  • Best Beatle year=1966 in my mind. They were the epitome of cool but '66 was such a good year that they may have been outshined by the Beach Boys and Dylan that year. Nonetheless, they were at their best to me. 1968, 1965, 1969, 1967, 1964, 1963, 1970, 1962 1961 goes the list in descending order from best to worst afterward.

  • The year they released Revolver, in wich they defined classic rock.

  • filmed a bit after paperback writer, and a bit more more inventive with edits, Beatles 2nd formal video- Don't include "Hard Days Night" or "Help", as they were movies- "Rain" was done around the time of ' Revolver'- Summer, 1966- and there you have it-

  • Who's the directors of their clips? Were these the first generation of video clip, before MTV?

  • what type of stlye is john wearing i really want to get somne glasses like that

  • lennons glasses are awsome i like them the best here!

  • I really love this BEATLE periode - love the location, long hairs, cloth and the of course this masterpiece song .. 40 years (!!!) after release still very very good to hear ...

  • Paul is cute!!

  • did you see his thooth at the begining

  • This is one of my favorite looks for John, though I have to say that he always was the best looking :) oh I'm in love!

  • Am I the only one who thinks that Ringo and George are the best looking? Haha.

  • No I think so too :]

  • Especially Ringo!

    It's those eyes. :)

  • i love ringo's eyes

  • Guess what?

    They are all good-looking =DDD!!

John let everybody knows he was so talented because of his face x).

    And Paul is so lovely.

George was so cute! (exclamation mark used XDD)

Ringo is so adorable and he looks like a bear. I wanna hug him LOL

  • i think too!!!!!and paul and john aint half bad!but i think george is the best lookin,2 bad hes gone........RIP john and george

  • at 0:52 paul looks funny

  • Paul has a busted mouth because he was in a car accident right before they filmed this

  • No, not a car, he fell of his moped in Heswall when he was visiting his dad.

  • ringos drumming is amazing in this track

  • the chipped tooth in Paul's mouth,....

  • Reminds me to Rolling Stones 'Child of the Moon', or maybe THAT song reminds me to this one...

  • Great song. I find it has a slight British sound to it - reminds me of "Arnold Lane," by Pink Floyd.

  • Good comparison. Listen to McCartney's excellent bass playing.

  • Reminds me a bit of Love.

  • prety good It was like a music video done yesterday!!!

  • hiiiiiii today I listen, listen and listen to this song!! =)

    I like it so much!!!

  • This song was very ahead of it's time. That's why it got almost no airplay on radio.

  • It was a B-side.

  • George has been getting into the herb garden!!!! 1:44

  • yes kiddies--that day paul hadnt gotten to the dentist yet---this film is at the same place and clothes they made for paperback writer

  • my little sister wont let me see the video- she keeps bothering me to pause it on 1:02 so she can kiss the screen.. i could barely finish this comment

great song.. love the video poor paul, though. His tooth was chipped because of a motorcycle accident

  • I'm with your sister. John was gorgeous!! That smart-as* grin you hardly saw once Yoko came in the picture is full of joy and mischief...but I'm torn between 1:02 and 2:35 as to which is my favorite of John.

  • John were can i get those Shades? haha Great Song love how Ringo Rips through those Drums, He is so underrated in this song but it is his Favorite song.

  • In my opinion, this is the best Beatles music video. JOhn is SO gorgeous

  • leave paul's teeth alone he was in a moped accident :(

  • Paul's tearing it up on the bass.

  • did anybody know that there is a subliminal message at the end of this song?

  • smanfan10 .... yes - smoke pot

  • LSpotD

  • without a doubt their best period!!

  • this song is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!! xD

  • 0:51 Paul's teeth!!

    looks great!

  • my mom was 18 in 1966. she graduated from hs that year. i can't imagine what it must have been like. i am a child of the 80's. oh well.

  • My parents both graduated in 1969. I am eternally extremely jealous of their generation.

  • @SpasticSeamonkey también a mi me hubiera encantado vivir en esa epoca, la música era excelente (sobretodo por los Beatles y los stones), la moda, la libertad de pensamiento era estupenda la epoca no que acualmente....

  • @SpasticSeamonkey : lol my parent graduated in 1996. iam 16, haha

  • its not backwards...they just used tape loops

  • In my younger days i use to trip balls listening to this one. ALlways felt it was more of the hallucinogenic tunes they had. OpINion not fact!

  • The track sounds speeded up when compaed with the original recording..

  • ah ah piove ma esco senza ombrello, beh speriamo che qualcuno mi dia un passaggio....the weather is fine anyway i don't mind

  • in my opinion the beatles looked and played the best in '66! what HAWTIES! 2 bad they can't stay young 4ever! =(

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!! it's so catchy! PLUSS I LOVE JOHN'S VOICE! Paul is soooo cute!!!

  • trippy

  • We may be old and weird now but-- you'll never know how cool 1966 was--so sad that world is gone. But...

at least you got information retrieval up the wazoo...so enjoy the flickering ghosts in yr machine.

  • you gotta love john in this

  • john lennon is very gorgeous in this song

  • Yes.And Ringo is ALWAYS gorgeous.ahaha

  • <3

    Nuff said.

  • ringo wasnt a bad drummer u bitch !

  • Ringo helped shape a new style of drumming that focused less on solos (which were prevelant during the 60') and more on creating unique beat patterns. If you look at beatles songs stripped of melody and harmoney and production, often you can tell what song it is based on Ringo's drumming.

  • Ringo bad drummer? Are you sure you listened to this song carefully? If you're still not convinced even doing it, i suggest you to listen She Said She Said, where Ringo simply destroys

  • jaja, come on, ringo composed almost all the drums playlists

  • 2 bad the drums are really quiet in this version

  • what do they mean by recorded backwards?

    thanx for posting!!!

    :DDD

can someone comment me or message me the answer???

  • They recordered part of the song reversed and put in one part of the song. Unfortunatly, that part isnt included in this vid for some reason.

  • in which album is this song??..I would like to downloid it.Does anybody know where I can download this song for free?

  • This song was never on an album, IT was the B side to Paperback Writer. You can download music for free off LimeWire

  • wow thats a good thing that paul was not hurt to bad in the motorcycle accedent!! Thaks for clearing that up netsurfer1212!! :)

  • my favorite beatles song...amazing bass and drums

  • omg.... ringo you rock!!!!!

    best drummer!!!

  • YESSSS!

    i love him.

    forever.

  • oooooooooommmmmmmmmmgggggg

  • Beatles = everything.

    Best. Band. Ever.

God bless you forever, you beautiful, talented, darling men.

  • BEST BAND EVER.

    god they are sexy.

  • In my opinion one of the finest Beatles songs. Paul won the A side of their new single with catchy radio sound of Paperback Writer whilst John had to settle for the B side with the progressive sound of Rain. This film clip was recorded in 1966 inside Chiswick House grounds in West London. I visited the gardens today and thought about this song.

  • I love this song, but what's the deal with Paul's teeth at 0:52?

  • Paul had gotten into a motorcycle accident close to the time of this filming, where he had chipped his front tooth in the process. He hadn't yet gotten it capped.

  • Oh, thanks for clearing that up :)

  • he was in a motorcycle accident and had not gotten his tooth capped yet.

  • When was this recorded?

  • i love this song!!!

    :D

  • ahahhahahahaha

  • Love this video. You can't beat the beatles.

  • Still tripping on the old stuff!

  • beatlesss for ever!!!!

  • Cool!

  • wondeful song--john strikes again!!!!the backwards part at the end, again a beatles 1st!!!!

  • i got to go in the place where the shot this video it was awasome

  • where?

  • AWESOME! I'd do anything to tough anything the Beatles touched!! wow! where is it?

My friend's G-pa has a signed Beatles album and she'll let me see it and touch it!!

    XD

  • you lucky thing.....

  • "Rain" is so imaginative and unique. John Lennon was a genius! R.I.P!

  • I love this video. The way John's voice was so deep and resonant. I watch it everyday.

    Kathy

  • The Beatles, of course, remain the coolest band ever. "Rain" is one of their best tracks, experimental yet commercial. Dig it.

  • like a rolling stone... like a rolling stone... like the fbi.... and the bbc

  • it wasn't the FIRST song, as the idea of backwards recording came about in the 40s or 50s or so. though the beatles are attributed to having made it mainstream. indeed they did. lennon actually originally wanted this entire song to be recorded backwards but this is how they decided to do it in the end.

  • It wasn't all played backwards, of course... just Lennon's voice after the drum break near the end. Plus, the drums and guitar were played fast and then slowed down before everything else was added.

  • Thanks !! This is one of my all time favorite Beatle songs : ) George looks SOOO Young in this video ! Again, Thanks netsurfer : )
