The only way to do that effectively is to have police stationed every 100-yards or so on the sidewalk in order to be there when the offense happens. And even then, it's pretty unenforceable.
We have real problems to be with.
I say punishment should be doled out by not making it to the other side, kindof like Frogger.
But to spend my tax money to prevent morons from being morons, nah...let mother nature take over.
This is kind of off topic but, while I agree that jaywalking doesn't warrant such a major action on the behalf of the police I would like the traffic dodging on Salem Ave. to be taken care of. That's beyond jaywalking and it's been that way as long as I can remember.
Its the same on the North Dixie, people just walk right out in front you as your driving. People have been hit many times. They are too lazy to walk the extra 50 or so feet to the crosswalk.
