What is music or art is all a matter of perception, to the one who is listening or viewing, just let the two take you to places in your mind, whether it is the past present or future, as for, me, listening to Steve Roach’s “The Memory” takes me to the place of the whales.
Steve roach is just amazing... copying the sounds/vibrations he felt in the higher Dimensions! I Have just released my spiritual fiction book "We Have Each Other" which involve spiritual visions by some teens who are living alone in northern England (everyone fled south due to a storm) they end up having to warn humanity not to maltreat their planet. For more information, plot synopsis, and the lulu online order link please go to wehaveeachother co uk (replace the dots), i hope you all enjoy :)
Some of us here will make it to an old age, decades from now, find this song again and let the waves of memory wash over you...it will be the most beautiful thing you ever hear.
@TheGrinninMan I hope so my friend. Check out the equally beautiful "Held Together By Gravity" By Carbon Based Lifeforms. It's here on youtube. The accompanying video is breathtaking.
@Universalecstasy Well, that is a matter of one's personal diluted ignorant opinion. If i were God, i would be 100% perfect, sinless, omnipresent, a savior of mankind, all knowing, all powerful and never had a beginning, eternal. Honestly...
@Universalecstasy amen. we are all the architects and designers of this realm we divine ourselves in. The gods. It brings me peace that i have finally found others who have synchronized themselves around this concept as well. So thank you for that and all who agree.

The Hdo21, go to Wikipedia and look up Ekpyrotic Universe. I think it's the theory to which you're referring. It's my favorite too; dovetails nicely with my personal philosophy. Great music, I have this piece on one of his CDs.
Steve's music is the "gold standard" for all ambient music. It is as if he channels his music directly from another realm of existence. I sleep very deeply with his music playing softly against my dreams.
Electronic Pads created from absolute scratch... without programs... without anything other than programming knowledge and a computer. Grand job Steven Roach, I envy you.
I discovered Steve Roach only a couple of years, but find his soundscapes endlessly fascinating. I can listen to the same piece over and over and find new ways to listen.

Sounds and combinations of sounds have a direct effect with our brain frequecy specialy when they match , then you feel the effect of diferents animics levels. Or calm , angry , or many ideas fly thru your head while you 're inmobile. Many things may happen to you while under influence of sounds. Of course you have to let it take you.
this musick reminds me of a big smelly cock that keeps chasing a meteor through my bathroom commode. A kid could write this collection of crap. All you need is a Roland keyboard, a 2,000 software package, and a dark room. The chorus keeps repeating itself over and over so how hard can it be? not like Bach Mass in B minor or an Eminem jam. Lord protect us from such nonsense and may we all move past such garbage....Steve...stop writing music....if you can even call it that.

Hey wassup everyone, I have this track on my page that is real chill. Its call "Rest In Paradise", a place of rest that is offer by Jesus Christ, the lord and savior, son of the Most High God. I pray this track gives you rest. God bless!
I dont understand why people fight over which music is best, if you were a true fan of music you would respect most genre's because they are aimed at getting a certain response from the listener.
Alot of his music was inspired by a Near-Death Experience he had after crashing his motorcycle. He then dedicated alot of time to recreating what he heard, "Structures from Silence" is a result of that experience.

You're already moving. On a planet around the sun. If you have no sense of a higher reality, you shouldn't be listening to Steve Roach...he'd likely sound quite dull to you.
Interesting how we judge time, and thus, memory. By means of the device of place, through movement, we sense moments. As moments progress by change of place, we retain memory of past moments. Steve Roach speaks much of place in his music, and the significance of place, and their memories render emotion. I think of Steve's music as a pointer to the super-reality that emotions give us glimpses of -- Seeing through a darkened glass dimly those wonders we deeply hope for.
He's right, these comments are full of shamaniacs. A true shaman speaks understandable WISDOM that every man can benefit from, not regurgitate (poorly and less intelligibly) whatever Ken Wilber/Arjuna Ardagh, etc. passage he/she read on the toilet this morning.
Come on guys...smoke a peace pipe and just listen to the music. I ain't taking sides...I just hate to see anyone fighting over something that was not meant to be fought over. Do not mean to offend anyone. I am sure both of you are decent fellas.
Truth is, this music isn't super hard to make. It's great for meditative reasons. Very simple. So while Michael Jackson has all these complex dance moves and vocalizations, it's a diff. type of music, with a diff. set of objectives.
No. Garbage is what you hear on almost every radio staion. This is thought provoking music for people with imagination. an adventure in sound and music.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
how can you people listen to this garbage? it's a 6 minute long track of one ongoing random sound, there's no beat, no chorus, no nothing, god this shit is weak
Obviously you know nothing about ambient music, which is fine...but don't go around trashing something you dont understand because it makes you look like a complete asshole.
as a musician i apreciate all types of music. and i apreciate the effort that was put into every song. even world music, i found this peice rather beautiful. but you are most likely just a stupid 12 year old that is brain washed by the one genre i cant apreciate... rap/main stream.....THAT.. is the repetitive music, just an on going beat with someone talking trash about women and drugs. but anyways, go have fun listening to that and leave us alone.

@marknashland Who the hell do you think are to define what is and isn't music?! Music is art. Art, once defined, loses all meaning.
RottenMandarinOrange 6 months ago
@marknashland Why not? Is only the music you like, real music?
