Thanks for taking the time to post a lesson. Not sure why you'd raise the action when tuning up. That may be the case when tuning down to open G [Es to Ds and A to G]
@Maafa1619 I've changed my mind. raising the tune-o-matic a bit and using thicker gauge strings (which probably impart a bit more neck relief without touching the truss rod) did the trick. Since I want to be able to fret notes with my fingers too, I'm not shimming the nut. That would put the action in square-neck Dobro territory.
telling people to mess with there action could be a bad idea...there's probably some beginner guitar players watching this and messing with there action and messing up there guitar...but maybe not idk haha...good lesson though
Thats my idea also. I just recently started with it but i think it has a heave feel and i can play melodies and riffs at the same time.. But when i cheked it out on youtube people always play bossa nova or boring picking tunes on the open-e so i feelt that mabey i was wasting my time. Im glad to have read your inlay.
warping means the neck can bend if using heavy gauge strings. if you fret a string at the top fret and look down the neck, the string should be paralell to the the fret board ,in some cases there is a a slight bow in the middle of the neck which is ok,keep on slidin'
great tuning, use it all the time for lead slide! caution is required because of the extra tension as you could warp the neck if using heavy strings(i use 60 to 16 on my les paul!)but had the truss rod adjusted to compensate. keep on slidin'
pardon my ignorance....still fairly new to guitar and now want to try playin some blues. Wat is meant by warping the neck with the tension? need to find out as i'm using a friends fender strat and if i fuck the thing up i'm not really in the position to pay for it.. lol
i broke my A string trying to tune to this

Is the E string that was D before below the A string should sound like the higher E?

@daveasc for the slider.....
dexydonovanroger 6 months ago
@daveasc So the slide doesn't rattle on the frets, of course
I not only raised my bridge, I'm going to shim the nut before all is said and done.

I've been playing open E for about 2 years now, kinda feels like cheating, but its a great way to play blues and metal stuff.
