    It's on my page now!

  • A música country mais linda de todos os tempos.

  • excellent evergreen song

  • What a nice song. Honey for the ears!

    Love to you all!!

  • What a lovely, lovely, song.I remember hearing this back in 81, in high school. Anyone know what year this came out? This is an amazing song!

  • I believe this song was on one of his albums from the early '70s. I too first heard this in 1971 when I met my first wife Jennifer out in Barstow, Calif. Such a beautiful song. bilbo2shire

  • Love

  • Love

  • ljhujn

  • Isnt it funny. I grew up listening to these songs as a kid thinking they were 'old fashioned'. Amazing how 35 years later i listen to these songs and think how true they really are about what love is.

  • Try listiening to Joni Mitchel's "both sides now. First back then and now, It will bring tears to your eyes. Time does indeed deepen our souls to appreciate the intense talent and love of rare artist like don.

  • I so agree. I just shared both the then and now version of Joni's song "both sides now" with someone that I wanted to help understand the difference between singing well and singing from your heart after life has had it's way with you many years later. I'm still deeply moved everytime I listen to her later version.

  • Perfection personified!!

  • Definitely a classic... haven't heard this in ages.

  • i love this song. its magic :)

    She is so beautiful

  • This gorgeous song takes me over green hills, forests, oceans and rivers... so stirring.

  • how romantic this is~

  • what a wonderful blue, tearfully sad, hopefully happy,

    magically romantic melody~

  • ah, yes, now I remember...

Thank you, Ihadadreamacrazydream this is most wonderful, it's true~

  • wonderful

  • Beautiful castles .

  • love this slower beat version nice one

  • This was the first version he sang. Or at least this was the one that became the one, the one that was played on the radio, and still played today.

  • Luv this song. Can anyone tell me something about the Brighton Pavilion? It is simply marvelous.

  • The melody is one of the best written, His voice is sexy, and smooth, floating in his melody, with the high and the low tones. The words pertain to all that is material, and really not so important, a simpler life to appreciate, a timeless peice of music. A man with insite, that sings to us, aren't we lucky.

  • you hit the nail full on the head. my god his voice is powerful. we are lucky to know his talent.

  • A masterpiece. Don was just brilliant.

  • Amuch overlooked song. Yes, a second chance would be nice.

  • pure brilliance.

  • 1982 I used to hear this song. it brings me some nice reminds.

  • Yeah, this one saw me off to Korea with a lot on my mind. My Hazelnut left me when I had less than 20 days left in Country in August 83. bilbo2shire

  • love it soooo much

  • thanks i am in 5th grade and trying out for all county and need a good song. i am trying to remember this one.

  • its true. this is a great great song.don mclean just seems to know how to pull off incredible songwriting every so often doesnt he? what about VINCENT? thats stunning too

  • Whoo hoo, I posted and requested someone post this original version ,omths ago and forgot about. Thanks for posting it.

Don McLean is awesome xxxx :D

Thsnks you just made my day, I love this song. :D

  • I so love this song!!!!!!!!

  • A beautiful overlooked song!!

  • Agree with you totally mick (except it should be 2 years), but you got to admit that trotter has a point, it is good to sit back and listen to the old classics and remember the good bits long gone. Although trotter, i gotta tell ya, the only reason it seemed better back then was because we were the ones causing the mayhem. Now we's growed up bubba, we's on the reciving end the same as our parents where - Welcome to the Wheel

  • Get a grip trotter23 Just place them in the army for 12 months AGREED!

  • "and castles walls lead me to despair"...seems when this gem first came out we were all trying to escape from those castle walls. Now it seems we handed the mantle on to the new youth and they seem to be building the walls higher and higher.

Its great to be able to sit back, listen to classics like this and simply remember a time when things were better.

  • Nostalgia is a dangerous phenomenon.

  • How so Big Grasshopper? Actually you are quite right to a degree. When it interferes with the present as I found much to my cost.

  • Takes me back, rich memories!

  • the emotional complexity is so gently, subtly conveyed--relief, liberation, but tinged with sadness

  • thanks i am in 5th grade and trying out for all county and need a good song. i am trying to remember this one.

  • SSSSSSSShhhhh this video shows Brighton, on the south coast of England.

  • Sooooo smoooooooth ..... BRAVO

  • One of the most beautiful songs ever!!

    Thank you very much.

  • Really love this song.

  • Hola muy bonito brighton, y la musica perfecta, tengo un primo alla die que es increible las vistas. Saludos. Cuba.

  • Nothing against American Pie,but I think this is every bit as good yet it seems to get no airtime.I've heard A/P about three hundred million times and this one about twelve. What the hell's up with that? When did this come out?

  • I share your enthusiasm for this song, and actually prefer it to American Pie. I'm not certain, but I think Castles in the Air was released in 1981.

  • I think it was re-released in 1981, but originally recorded and released in 1970. My Dad had this in his record collection the first year I remember (1976). The picking on this reminds me of John Denver and Jim Croce. Very complex and gorgeous. Cheers

  • Raughwe-Did your dad have this on an album or a forty-five?

  • Album- I am pretty sure. There was a lot of Don McLean songs being played so I couldn't tell you which one!

  • I read somewhere this came out on the "American Pie" album but I never heard it on the radio until I was stationed at Fort Irwin in the desert from 1980 - 82. I met my first wife Jennifer and this song was so dear to us. I got sent to Korea and she left me with 20 days left in Country. Our time was short but this song and Pat Benatar's "In the Heat Of The Night" always bring back plesant memories. bilbo2shire

  • Its great to here some simple, good lyrics, mellow melodies, and just damn easy to listen to. Nothing political, no special interests, nobodies agenda,no bullshit to deal with or even to try and figure out the meaning of the song. Very good underated song along with the composer, Mr. Mclean. Thanks for posting.

  • Great song

  • One of my all time favorite D. McL. songs! Thank you for posting!

  • thanks for posting this song. it reminds me of a lazy sunday cooking a BBQ. and having a couple of drinks relaxing.

  • You said it just right! bilbo2shire

  • para mi esta cancion es la mas maravillosa de todos los tiempos que solo podia componer el magnifico y gran señor de la musica Don Mclean.

gracias por darnos este placer de oirla y que ojala agreguen muchas mas.

  • yes they still have the nuidist beach

but lots of peole topless on the normal beaches now too

  • one of my all time favorites.

  • One of my favorite songs; thanks for posting it.

  • A "castle in the air" is anything that holds promise of glamour and excitement but turns out to be a prison from which it's very difficult to escape. Yours may be Brighton, someone else's may be New York City. We've all got the yearning to get away.

  • Great vid and soundtrack!

  • de nada

  • Sublime melody, instrumentation, vocal performance, preoduction.

    God bless Don Mclean

  • Tastefully Done.

  • well he does say

"Im city born but i love the country life." so....Cocktail generation, cocktail parties dont usually happen in the country

  • brighton IS A CITY

anyway the pavillion is an excellent visual to use for this song because it is a dream building a complete improbability built on a whim by a king with too much money

as for cocktails and parties the prince regent had some pretty wild decadent parties here in brighton

  • Nice video, and great song... I'm curious about some of the tags you used though- 'Brighton' and 'England' and 'castles' are obvious, but the others?

  • brighton is the gay and lesbian capital of england

  • Great song..................different class

  • very nice :)

  • i like your photo montoshes*can't spell*

    Sydney

  • ahhhh Brighton why would i want to live any where else

unless it was Madrid or San Fran

I have never been in San Francisco but I have been told that its a very nice place and what can I say about Madrid and Brighton? Deeply in love with both !!!!!!!!

Thank you again for your videos.... I watch them almost everyday!!!

    This song is great........ mmmmmmm.....

  • de nada
