Yeah I don't understand that either, but bare in mind that although you get poorer versions of the same cars that the rest of the world get, you get your cars a hell of a lot cheaper in the USA, especially when compared to the UK ( Where I Live). My dad bought an almost base model European-Spec 2008 Mazda6 and that cost him £18,000, a near top of the range North American-Spec 2008 Mazda costs just $18,000, which at the time converted to just £9,000!

I sat in this car at the recent Motor Show in Jakarta and it was brilliant. The steering is telescopic in the best way and for a guy like me who is 1'95 (6ft5), it fit me like a glove. The Asia version has paddle shifters and a nicer steering wheel than the US version. I can safely say to Mazda that the US would ALSO like those shifters!

However, most people in their 40s in Indonesia prefer to sit at the back and let drivers do their job. And they're very brand-minded as well. Toyotas and Hondas will always sell well here, even when their cars aren't particularly good. What a shame. I myself prefer the sportier Mazda6. And in my opinion, this smaller Jap/Euro version is better than the big US version.

Ya, it's a beautiful car. I like the pearl white as well. I agree that the paddle shift and multi-function steering wheel CF-NET are among the selling points. Does US get the CF-NET as well? The Camry 2.4 here has awful fit and finish. I don't know about the one in the US. Never been there. But in Australia the exterior finish is seemingly less luxurious than the one sold in Indonesia.

I had an 04 Mazda 6i hatchback & traded it in last year for a 07 Mazdaspeed6 GT. This new Mazda6 is not as distinct as the previous model. I'll wait for the next Mazdaspeed version.

The Sports Hatchback is beautiful. Unfortunately, we don't get the V6 in the UK, but I had the pleasure of taking the 2.5L out for a test drive yesterday. Very nice. Only think that lets it down are the plastics inside. Quality of those is not as improved as the rest of the car. You can add the sports pack that gives you front and rear sports bumpers as well as sports side skirts and a spoiler, although this is standard on the Sports version.

Ford & Mazda always came out with its own design but took longer time to launch their cars in the market due to lower manpower & budget. So, when their prototypes were made public, larger manufacturers could copy & launch earlier or side by side with Ford/Mazda giving others an impression that Ford/Mazda were the copycats.
actually, the jump to work with companies like ford, volvo, and whomever else has helped mazda a lot. In my opinion it seems like Mazda has gotten their feet back on the ground because of the joint design teams between those three. A lot of companies are stronger when they have shares in one another...
By creating the mazda6 frame/platform which ford then used for it's mercury milan, ford fusion and , lincoln zephyr and couple others. Saving ford a butt load of money.
For those who said Mazda copied Toyota or Lexus, if u look carefully, it was Mazda that was copied by others. They just shortened n heightened the tail lamps of the 1st Mazda 6 and copied it's back, modified a bit then claim it's their design. Mazda is always creative in design but treated as copycat as its sales weren't that good as Toyota/Lexus

Actually I'd like to see the Mazdaspeed 6 released with a turbo charged V-6 instead, AWD of course. That could put it near the 400 HP mark, and really outclass it's competition (ie, Toyota, Nissan, Honda, and Lexus).

Québec people also are 'hatch obsessed' it represent 40% of new car sales here. Im a proudly owner of a 2005 Mazda 6 sport myself.
Ans it was the first reason why I bough a 6.
At least with a hatch you can carry stuff around without buying gazguzzler SUV or pickup.

Ford & Mazda always came out with its own design but took longer time to launch their cars in the market due to lower manpower & budget. So, when their prototypes were made public, larger manufacturers could copy & launch earlier or side by side with Ford/Mazda giving others an impression that Ford/Mazda were the copycats.

mazda actually helped design the ford explorer, but sadly mazda's version didn't sell as well

actually, the jump to work with companies like ford, volvo, and whomever else has helped mazda a lot. In my opinion it seems like Mazda has gotten their feet back on the ground because of the joint design teams between those three. A lot of companies are stronger when they have shares in one another...

By creating the mazda6 frame/platform which ford then used for it's mercury milan, ford fusion and , lincoln zephyr and couple others. Saving ford a butt load of money.

For those who said Mazda copied Toyota or Lexus, if u look carefully, it was Mazda that was copied by others. They just shortened n heightened the tail lamps of the 1st Mazda 6 and copied it's back, modified a bit then claim it's their design. Mazda is always creative in design but treated as copycat as its sales weren't that good as Toyota/Lexus

wow i love it, I own a 2005 mazda 6 and iv been looking forward to this new 6. i can't wait till it goes on sale. anyone knows what price it ill be? and if someone knows plx post specs like engine, weight, dimensions etc..

the 4 cyl is a 2.5 l now so we have alot more power and the v6 is a 3.5 l and a speed version wil be released with 2.5l turbo engine....i also own a 2005 mazda 6 an i fukken love it cant wait to see how much better it is with a beefeyer engine....!

Actually I'd like to see the Mazdaspeed 6 released with a turbo charged V-6 instead, AWD of course. That could put it near the 400 HP mark, and really outclass it's competition (ie, Toyota, Nissan, Honda, and Lexus).
