@calimar28 I AGREE WHOLEHEARTEDLY!!!!! Some songs I actually liked the melodies better than the Beatles song it copied. It's a shame they didn't often write sincere lyrics that matched the new tunes. They may have copied certain sounds but the overall tune was different. A lot of serious artists do the same. "Surfing USA" is "Sweet Little 16" sped up.

The Rutles filled a musical void that the Beatles thought was too wide, deep and decayed to fill. It must have been a special day for the band to perform for Her Majesty. This was clearly early Rutles film clips - before they got into heavy tea drinking.

I think Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip really did love the Rutles that night. They were still very sqeaky clean and the Queen loved that Rutle beat.
