@Gmarchetti94 Yes that's right but doped riders spoil the entire dynamic of the race e.g. when they attack certain riders can't respond as well on different days. Personally I think Simoni should have won 2004, 05, 06 Giro. Poor team tactics spoiled 04, again in 05 & Basso was doped to the eye balls in 06 - Simon being the only one to challenge him. Simoni could have won 02 had he not been incorrectly removed from the race. I miss Gibo in the peloton - no one has replaced his style yet. HNY!
I agree with you about the Giro '06 and '02 but as for the Giro '04 Cunego was the strongest (and was helped even by Simoni himself) and in '05 I think Savoldelli made a masterwork after 2 years of accidents (and he hadn't a competitive team for the mountain stages). I live 15 km from his home and I miss him too: he always had no fear to tell his opinions (Aprica stage in Giro '06).
@Gmarchetti94 Savoldelli certainly had an iron will & used other team's riders to help him on the Col De Fenestre then used his superb descending to save his race. Simoni was once again the most attacking rider though. With Basso winning earlier mountain stages (already doped I think) how much did that take out of Simoni both mentally & physically? I think when Basso got ill it was down to poor blood transfusion. As I said earlier the doped riders mess up the whole dynamic of the race. Cheers!
You're almost right, but don't forget that A. Schleck ended up as 2nd in the overall classification of the Giro 2007, while "Gibo" finished 4th. So, disqualifying Di Luca (1st) and Mazzoleni (3rd), the podium should be: 1st A. Schleck, 2nd Simoni and 3rd Cunego
Should have been Parras stage.

Doping is just crap, as you said.
