@CrucialGreg some people do that. the vent is only for low speed cruising on the earlier models, but that model vent actually produces SOME airflow at high speeds too. its hard to do with the fuel door on that side, and its really not worth the trouble.

there is also a fuse box there. its a big pain in the butt to do that 'mod'

I had a 85 and a 86 MR2 when I was young. I loved that car and always have a warm happy feeling when I see one today. I always wanted a 1989 SC in white, with a Kaminari skirting package with after market tires and rimes and I always thought the MR2 should have air vents on both sides instead of just the right side. Did you see the white 89 SC at :47 with the skirt package, wow! and it has the air vent on the left side, first time Ive seen that. I love that car. I drive a BMW 325I today.
