  • Claude Heater played Jesus in the 1959 movie Ben-Hur. His face did not need to be shown because his PRESENCE radiated the holy spirit. I pray our current politics will become more civil. It seems so little has changed since Christ uttered,"Father, forgive them for they know not what they do."

  • The Greatest Movie of the 20th Century

  • no water for him!

  • One of the most beautiful scene ever picturised....A real son of God!!

  • In this passage we have one of the greatest moments given by

7th art by presenting a scene that manages to transcend

the image (Ben-Hur was written by Lew Wallace, and

a fiction) but becomes a reality and artistic

spiritual, when the destination is responsible for uniting the

savior (whose face is not shown respectfully)

making water a symbol of salvation and cleansing

    of human ills. Iolivan Brazil

  • GREEDY MGM HAS STOPED THE SOUND OF THIS SCENE!

    como on!

it is not a single scene that'll bankrupt you! leave this remarkable scene public domain!

  • Jesus was a wonderful figure and I can see why people admire him. But how Christianity and every other major religion has turned in to something that divides people, treats people differently because of their sexual healing, creates wars, keeps people from thinking rationally, is really sad to see. God and Jesus are great, just without religion.

  • its epic the way they look at Jesus.. I wish i lived in that time

  • JOHN 3:16

  • so of all those prisoners why was ben hur the only one refused water

  • I am a huge fan of William Wyler, bigger fan of Jesus. Praise God for such a talented film-maker :)

  • The actor performing the "Jesus" role is the extraordinary heldentenor Claude Heater. GREAT FILM!!!!!!!!!

  • AWESOME AWESOME

  • Thanks WMG!!

  • What a nice guy

  • My dad loves this movie. Jesus! You are awesome! Miss u!

  • I have watched this movies for more than 10 times from my school days to current through you tube, my touching moments in this movie was Benhur meets God Jesus, even though i worship Hindu God i have some what attachment to this particular sequence and later at the end of the movie before crucification of Jesus when Benhur help Jesus with water, Great Movie

  • I saw this legendary movie when I was a kid around 1995, or 1994

  • A remake please@!!!

  • @folladordeprostis F you. This doesn't need a remake.

  • There is a parody of this scene in the simpsons with mr burns ajajajahahahahahha!

  • FUCK YOU WMG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • A mais linda cena que a sétima arte conseguiu produzir.

A mostra do amor irrestrito do Cristo pelos homens é patente.

Amor puro, sem cobranças de dízimos ou favores. Amor de um homem puro por outro.

O rosto do soldado diz muita coisa.

  • The reason the actor's face is not shown is because Wm. Wyler wanted audiences

to interpret THEIR version of what Christ looked like. Charlton Heston said in his

autobiography that the actor reminded him of paintings of Jesus he'd seen as a teenager. His reaction in the scene with the wooden cup was an easy one for him to portray.

  • what the fuck no sound...fucking WMG muting one of the most legendary scenes of all time, what the fuck...some call for freedom of speech

  • Dear heavenly Jesus, I don't ask for much and I'm sorry we haven't talked in awhile but can you smite those sinners at WMG? If you do, I promise I will never look at naughty things ever again on the internet. Thank you. Oh and if possible, also smite the console fanboys as well who worship false Gods.

  • Hello.

Does somebody know the place where a wristwatch in the film should be shown?

This is valid mistake of all times as the most famous film.

  • apparently there is a blooper in this movie where, during a battle in the coliseum

we can see a plane !!

    is that true ?

  • 2:10 and 2:50....I love these scenes, because they are so special!!!!

  • is this movie worth 2 buy?

  • this is a classic of course it is worth it...

  • Trust me! The first time you see it in all its beauty in your big TV, in the comfort of your home.. Indescribable. Worth every penny.

  • Trust me! The first time you see it in all its beauty in your big TV, in the comfort of your home.. Indescribable. Worth every penny.

  • Jesus's face was not shown in Ben Hur, not because it could be seen as "wrong", but to emphazise Jesus's Divine Being. This film is a near contemporary to King of Kings, which of course shows Jesus's face.

  • wmg's ceo is the devil and everyone else there lives in he11

  • The scene really makes me hope there is a Jesus

  • its called faith :)

  • @Atkn08 But my dear fellow, haven't you heard? Jesus is for real and he exists as long as you believe.

  • @Atkn08

There are actually several historical/secular documents like Josephus, the Talmud, and others that mention Jesus. There was some embellishment by the Greeks in Josephus' article about Jesus but most of the manuscripts mention Jesus and confirm He did miracles. The Talmud accuses a man named "Yeshu" of doing miracles by magic. The Talmud is partly ran by the Sanhedrin, which condemned Jesus to death.

  • @Downs2440 : The Talmud teaches people to be ignorant of spiritual life, and to reject and resist goodness with all their strength. Its adherents allow themselves to be coerced and manipulated into codified spiritual and mental slavery.

  • @Atkn08 there is a Jesus! ahaha historically that is. I guess you're hoping He's really the son of God

  • @Atkn08 Jesus [of Nazareth] really did exist, and I'm not talking on a religious level. His existence as well as his actions is recorded by both religious and nonreligious men alike (for example, his existence was recorded by Cornelius Tacitus, a Roman historian). Now, as for whether Jesus was the Son of God or not, thats where religion comes in :)

  • @Atkn08 and there is

  • @Atkn08 There is a Jesus... The moment you will meet him, only He knows, but he will let you know at the right time... Maybe in saying what you wrote, you are asking to meet Him. Jesus will always be there for you when you decide too accept him as your Lord and personal Savior. Not long ago, I was also a skeptical. But Jesus was patient with me, and when He "knocked on my door", I couldn't do anything but let Him in... He's the Life and the Resurrection. He gives the water of eternal life...

  • Notice they dont show Jesus face in those days in film that was because it was consided wrong to have an actor portray the son of god

  • the way it should be.

  • @nesossin I agree totally

  • @mity15 I think that's great and highly respective. Though if "Jesus" was going to be in the whole movie it'd be kind of, I dunno, it just wouldn't be as good. This is one of those tear jerker heart warming moments that really moves me. Ya just want to go out and give someone a hug after this. :P

  • @FangnclawXD "This is one of those tear jerker heart warming moments that really moves me. Ya just want to go out and give someone a hug after this."

    HAHAHAHA FAGGOT

  • @mity15 or maybe they didnt have any fake beards left? Good point though.

  • @mity15 except in jesus christ super star...or was that made later

  • Comment removed

  • @mity15 It was an English Law that prohibited showing the face of anyone playing the role of Jesus unless he was the main character like Jeff Hunter in the 'Greatest Story Ever Told'. Wyler wanted at one point two versions, one for the English Commonwealth and one for the rest of the world. The lawyers advised against it and many scenes were dropped. I know this because I played the role. Chuck and I were the last living actors at a showing of the film at the Academy in Hollywood in 2003.

  • I love this scene, particularly with the audio. Very emotionally powerful.

  • Such a beautiful scene, even without the sound. I almost cried, lol.

  • Jesus encontrou a ben-hur ...Ele sempre nos encontra....Glorias a Deus !!!

  • REMAKE?????? Are you serious? When???

  • So much power in this scene even without any audio.

  • wt has ben hur got 2 do wid jesus

  • I agree with BHFANCLUB.The next most powerful scene is the Crucifixion, with the lacerated & broken Christ on the cross illuminated only by lightning,His flowing blood healing the world, while life-giving rain washes away Miriam &Tirzah"s leprosy.

  • I'm curious to see how they'll do this scene in the upcoming remake.

  • Remake?.....awesome.....when?....can't wait! Hope they do Wyler the version justice....I bet it will be difficult to pull it off!...

  • It's scheduled to be aired sometime in April, at least in Canada. Don't know about the States. For further info visit my channel and read the first few postings.

    Also, I've featured the trailer.

Won't match the '59 version, but nevertheless, it looks promising.

  • @ 2:49 - 2:59.

The most powerful ten seconds in movie history.

  • one of the greatest scenes ever filmed....the gentleness of jesus,,the way he strokes judahs hair while giving him water. i love how you never see jesus"s face.....u have to use some imagination.........perfect.

  • OPEN SPAM AND PRAISE JESUS FOREVER

  • JESUSCHRISTFOREVERAMEN BLOGSPOT

  • This movie has some fiction to it, there never was a Ben-Hur. But, of course there was a Jesus Christ. This is a great movie, and it does capture the Majestry of Jesus' presence, his ministry, and crucifixion. The parallels that run through the movie with a Jewish man who wants justice to a Jewish man who gives justice are extraordinary. Great film.

  • We have no more proof that there was a Jesus Christ than we do that there was not a Ben-Hur...

    ^..^

  • Jesus spent a night with a dude.

  • Claude Heater must have been pretty tall. I'm saying this , beause Charleton Heston is listed at 6'4". Heater appears to be at least that height !

  • Comment removed

  • Dakers11, Claude Heater (Jusus) is 6'2" For those who want to keep the mystery, don't! But for those who would like to see the face of this Jesus singing the most romantic love duet ever 10 years after Ben Hur, go to Youtube 'Wagner Tristan Act 2 duet'.

  • we do not see the Jesus' face in this movie, but his acting moved millions of people.

If you would like to see the face of the person who played Jesus in this movie, you will see his face in the opera film "Tristan und Isolde" Claude Heater and Jacquliine Van Quaille.

Claude Heater who Played Jesus was an Opera Singer who played the role of the Jesus.

  • In my opinion this was the greatest movie Hollywood ever produced! Sad note is that every year on best movie lists it gets lower and lower. Even a local newspaper just recently left it off of their top ten. As though the more secular we become, movies with clearly Christian themes are not even allowed to be factored into the contemporary equation!

  • True fothgt, and when any Christian themed movie makes it into theatres nowadays,it is quickly ridiculed and assaulted. I can only speak for America but this country is doomed to destruction if it keeps rejecting God in every venue of life.

  • The nun judged and convicted the little boy for something he did not do. While the rest of the 2nd grade class began to receive an abundance of Valentine's candy she pointed to him an yelled, "NO CANDY FOR HIM." He did not play the martyr 'cause he was tough; but he was sad. I dont even remember the sadness, but I remember MERCY from a 7 year-old girl. 53 years later I can still feel the tap on my shoulder. "Timmy. I'll share mine with you!" Happy Valentine's Day, Becky - from Tom Sawyer!

  • Why do people have to constantly upload movies and then superimpose stupid sound over the original? just leave it the way it is.

  • oh, and the greatest original score as well....love this movie

  • To me, the greatest movie ever made, period. What an epic.

  • Miriam and Tirzah aren't healed by "touching the bloody water" - they're healed instantly with the severe crack of the lightning. You can't see any water until they exit the cave.

  • Ther is a great new bio (Charlton Heston: An Incredible lIfe) at amazon. Its by Michelle Bernier!

  • This movie is so INTENSE, I cannot think of any that rivals it in that sense. Heston's performance is so underrated. Every scene is just exploding with meaning and awe, I think there probably never was a more difficult role in all of cinema, and never will be.

  • Best scene of all time!

  • Definetly the best!

  • I'd love to look up at Him one day...

  • Excellent heart breaking performance of Charlestan Hestan and great personality of Jesus. The whole scene is awesome!!

  • this scene just moved me completely.

  • ..this scene my personal fav too, also the one where Judah Ben-Hur offers water to the thirsty Jesus Christ who is on his way to Golgotha, two very moving scenes..great movie..a timeless classic...but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst(John 4:14)..Jesus Christ, our Lord had to be born as a human being, endure all the sufferings & be crucified on the cross for our sins....Praise be to God the Almighty.

  • Hahahahha this scene makes me thirsty, always... =P

  • Ben Hur is one of my favorite movies and this scene is particularly classic. Thanks for uploading it!

  • gay,lord or not lord...he was a big human.

  • hihi clischee kitsch but could it be more epic ^_^i liked it a fuckin lot ^_°

  • grande incontro Grazie

  • such a good movie. god bless jesus. :)

  • One out of the few "pro-christianism" movies (along with Kingdom of heaven for example) which really rocks a lot. A story about faith , courage and love.

And man !!! just look at Jesus ... each time he appears in the movie it's just so damn great ... I really mean it even if I'm no believer (especially no christian).

  • The best movie scene I've ever seen!!!

  • you are gay

  • Fool !

  • -It's for kevooom-

  • There would have been less of a hassle, all round, had McDoalds already been there, and not until later.Even Burger King would have done. Fries, burgers and coke for everyone!

  • I like the way that the Roman Soldier got so thoroughly PUNKED! It's as if Jesus was saying.....

"I'll take the punishment that needs to be taken when I'm ready to, and not until then"

  • Beautiful Scene! God Bless Jesus Christ!

  • Mannn wouldn't that be cool as chit to meet the man himself? Maybe one day...

  • The reason Judah is the only one out of the condemned men the soldiers deny water is not just because they think he tried to assassinate the prosecuter, but more especially out of anti-Semitism. Just goes to show anti-Semitism existed long before Christ came into the picture, and the hypocrisy over the next 1,930-something years of the anti-Semites using the Crucixion as an excuse to justify their persecution of them, overlooking the fact that Jesus is/was Jewish Himself. :(

  • Jal8919536,

Anti-semitism had nothing to do with it...all the condemned men were Jews...

Nobody was immune...the Romans condemned men throughout the empire...

In the film it was put there as a dramatic prop...a build up, as it were, for this classic scene...

Btw,...Rome never used galley slaves...Romans worked the oars and doubled as soldiers...paid 'n all...

  • Hz. İSA çok güzel bir görüntü

  • amaizing :D

  • i love how jesus is the only guy with long hair... so 50's

  • the most touching scene ever

  • This scene is historic

  • Even when you are not a Christian, this is a beautifull scene, very moving....

  • Ben-hur is ranked 72 in the AFI's list of greatest american movies of all time. I'm watching all the movies of the list online, here:

    blogger-films.blogspot.*com

  • This scene always makes me teary-eyed! I can't even imagine being so fortunate as to look upon the face of the Lord. Can you imagine the peace and love you would feel??This is so moving. I love it! 5 stars! Thank you for posting! XO, Katie

  • whats this music called? plz

  • What do you think the Roman and Judah saw that gave them pause? A supernatural radiance from Jesus' face?

  • whatever he saw, the Roman was totally pnwed by him.

  • so a great scene..thank you,Lord for this wonderful film...

  • my fav part

  • There is such an annointing on this scene...awesome, but more awesome is His incredible love for us! Thank you Lord Jesus.

  • I LOVE THIS SCENE! Gives me goosebumps! :D

  • We sure do need good people like jesus in these rough times now, all over the world...

  • Jesus is one incredible dude. Yeah, I said dude. And I don't consider it blasphemy. Cuz I'm a Christian and The Man and Jesus rule!

  • You're okay. Jesus IS the coolest dude ever! I love him because he first loved me!!!!!

  • I've never seen this movie. How is it?

  • The Miklos Rosza´s Music is a sobrenatural experience with God. Majestic.

  • I love this scene, one of the best (if shortest) depictions of Jesus on film, in my opinion.

  • that scene is sooo powerful

  • It trully is

  • Ah. You really are the king of kings.

  • Until 'Passion' came along, this was probably the best portrayal of Christ in movie history.

  • The greatest scene in movie history!!

  • Wonderful!Gratiful to Ditte3 for sending me this fantástic movie, with fantástic Scene and fantástic actor Charlton Heston.

Thanks for when put this movie.Excuse-me my english.

  • Totally ignorant propaganda. Goebbels would have liked you.

I hold no discrimination towards people, unlike your Anti-Semitic "self".

  • Unfortunately you are totally brainwashed. This way any additional argument is unnecessary.

  • Unfortunately you hold apriorism in no esteem, so a cognizant exchange with you is impracticable.

  • Racism is for idiots. Good luck improving your conspiracy-theory based "education".

  • no buddy! This is experience, you don't have in your dream world yet.

  • I am not the buddy of a racist psychotic. Now... this is a terrific clip from an awesome film - lets leave the comment board for responses to the video. I don't have the time to waste arguing.

  • So you don't like your brethren. That's not Chistian at all. By the I would like to remind you of the fact, you were who spoke to me first.

  • Hungarian & yourself are in desperate need of psychological medical attention.

  • JESUS is THE LORD, THE KING, is everything¡¡ for HIM, all THE POWER, all THE GLORY, FOREVER¡¡ JESUS CHRIST.¡¡

  • "Now, lets leave this board for responses regarding the video."

If I were you I wouldnt be so sure Jesus is by my side. So regarding this video be a good Christian!

  • on my side. (pardon)

  • Since the end the so called Holocaust, Jews live well from the endless compensations and they are untouchable and undisputed. Israel has the right to defend itself! How many times we heard that when they butchered palestinian civilians?

  • ... responsible for one of the most horrific genocides the World has known, continues to distort the truth of the Jewish faith & by reacts against the pursuit of peace.

"Anti-Semitism has no historical, political and certainly no philosophical origins. Anti-Semitism is a disease."

    Daniel Barenboim

Now, lets leave this board for responses regarding the video.

  • Daniel Barenboim is Jewish. Do you want me to condemn those who haté my country? By the way the holocauset was just a hoax. This was just a mean to arouse pity. David Cole jewish historian along with other historians proved it.

In many country If somebody talk about it he will probably go to jail. I wonder why. Maybe there is something, they dont want to see come to light. The mainstream media will never tell you the truth.

  • You should be ashamed of this comment. Judaism has offered America positive culture - something that great and troubled land desperately needs.

  • I didn't talk about Judaism. Zionism and Judaism are two different thing. You can find many videos of Neturei Karta on youtube which represents real jewish values and not the zionism. Zionism causes trouble, but Judaism wants peace.

  • Get real, man. Promoting anti-Semitism is hardly a peaceful effort. Leave this board for responses to the video - your propaganda doesn't belong here.

  • lol the good old anti-Semitism charge. the favourite weapon of liberals. no wonder Australia was one of the main supporters of Bush's iraqi war. if every citizen is like you there, the government could make accept it easily there.

  • Your racism extends to an ignorant perception of Australia. We no longer have an involvement in Iraq. The majority of Australian citizens did not support the War. Our former PM (who last year was overwhelmingly defeated by Kevin Rudd of the Labor Party) John Howard was responsible for this mistake. Australia is a wonderful, liberal country that you have no understanding of.

I wouldn't jokingly dismiss the reality of anti-Semitism, it is alive and well in Iran & obviously, America...

  • Thank you for posting this.Great movie.

  • Watch this: watch?v=fJuNgBkloFE The zionist ruled American Government has artificially made the American population idiots. This way they can do what they want and nobody protests agains it.

  • I LOVE this movie!

  • great---this scene is so powerful----you never see the face of jesus. it was beautifully directed by wyler.love when jesus strokes hestons hair and gives him water----so loving and gentle.

  • vandergraff56,

He was. In the book, Ben Hur was the only prisoner being marched to the galleys, and after the confrontation at the well, the lone soldier escorting him picked him up onto his horse and he rode the rest of the way.

  • "The Acts of Ben Hur", the sequel. Coming soon to a bookstore near you.

  • Peace and unconditional love...

  • Je ne suis pas croyante, mais cette scène est l'une des plus belles et émouvantes de ce film grandiose...

  • Je suis d'accord... émou

  • The most memorable, wonderful scene from Cinema....

  • The intriguing thing is I'm a Christian (yes, "Mormons" are Christians) and I have ancestry from Italia, so it's important to remember that Christ's mercy extends to all nations so long as they repent.

  • @BradGiovanniItalia Mormons don't believe in the Bible Christ who spent 3 days in Paradise with the thief who died next to him. See 3 Nephi CH 9 (Book of Mormon)
