@Alejandromichael84 mines was a little over 71 grand I had an open bite so I had surgery on the top and bottom I have metal implants holding my bones together my insurance covered it all :) def worth it!
I have Kaiser and i came across the total amount for my entire procedure. i had my top jaw moved forward, bottom jaw moved backwards, and my chin moved forward. the total for everything was 61,000.
Cost, Cost, Cost! - is what I would like to know. I'm a full time student, and my part-time job employer's insurance company, does not and will not cover any of the costs. Any ideas on how to be able to afford such a procedure. My under-bite is slight, but I do have a long face, and a "Jay Leno" protruding chin. I'm really hoping one day to being able to afford such a procedure. Thanks again for the video.
It's officially been a year since your surgery! Congrats on getting through it and finally getting your braces off:) I'm having my surgery in April, though for me my upper jaw is being cut into 3 pieces, being shifted a bit to the left and then brought forward about 3 mm. Did you find your nose was like blocked after surgery? And at what point did you feel like you were well enough to go out into public? Thanks!
STORY OF MY LIFE. My dentist keeps telling me the exact same thing about how i need to wait for my jaw to be done growing before i can get braces. My jaw grew a whole 1 mm since last year so i get to wait another year to get more xrays of my jaw to see if its finally done growing (this has been going on for 5 years now) and then i can get braces -.- sorry about the rant. btw youre very pretty!
So I heard that after the surgery there is a big chance that you might vomit from all of the sleep meds. How am I supposed to throw up if I'm wired shut?
I didn't have any naseua issues but just like you can consume liquids through the gaps in your teeth to be on your liquid diet....you can let liquids escape too I would imagine.
hey thanks for sharing your story with us...i wanted to ask you if the surgey was expensive or what kind of insurance you had and what doctor did you surgery? i have a underbite aswell but i dont know where to start at :(
There's plenty of great maxillofacial surgeons out there. The price varies with each insurance and surgeon. If the surgeon says the surgery is medically necessary I believe most insurance companies should cover the cost of the surgery. Good luck,
ok. so im having really bad nasal congestion even though i was given a spray for that, how bout you?. jw but when you had lower jaw surgery did the surgeon put incisions on the side of your face and then put tape over it post op? he's suppose to take them off this tuesday for me and i just wanted to know what it feels like, like if its painful or something?
I only had congestion the first 2 days post-op; for me though, luckily, the spray helped a lot. And I didn't have any tape over the incisions. I strictly had stitches that eventually came off with time.
i'm getting this surgery on june 15 and mines also double surgery with 4 mm! did you also get plates put into your face? also, did you notice if your nose got bigger or flatter cause im nervous about that :/
I've had an underbite for 3 years now. I'm due my corrective surgery next year. I'm 18 years old and I'm really depressed because of it. These videos however really help me, thanks for uploading them. It's so nice and reassuring the hear people speak so positively about the surgery. I don't feel alone in it anymore, thanks..
Invisalign is just like having braces only they're "invisible" so no, that alone couldn't fix my bite. The only thing braces could do for my case was make my teeth straight...but my major problem dealt with the whole positioning of my jaws so surgery was the only real solution.
It was only about 6-8hours after the surgery that the nurses would keep checking up on the ice and replacing it with new ice. I was never told to ice my face at home so I never did
@AnaBanana311 I have at least the lower on june 3rd! haha. it could end up being the upper and lower. pm me after the surgery and if I'm not too fucked up and i check my gmail we'll talk. lol
Initially they did get in the way but like all things, you get used to them soon enough. Plus if you're only 15, everyone at that age has braces so it shouldn't be too bad :)
I love how you said you love to eat and eat meat! LOL I am the same way! Man! I have to have my jaw surgery ina few months not sure exactly, I also have a underbite This will be interesting to see my change. Thank you so much for posting this!
Hahah this is EXACTLY the same as me xD Also 21 years, had braces for 2,5 years of the exact same reasons and getting the same surgery as well soon so I'll keep watching your videos and hoping for a good outcome and that you'll be satisfied with the results :)
My surgery is March 28 2012. So excited/ nervous! This is really great for me to watch thank you so much.

Mine was a little over twenty grand but I've heard from others that theirs cost a lot less. I guess it depends on your surgeon and hospital.
