The physical Reaver needed to be wielded by the sion of balance and, also, needed to be complete to defeat the elder god. Raziel gave his existence to the sword to purify it and Kain.
@Claysovaysusmotas perhaps, but the prophecy said it could go either way, they were both champions and either one could win, i believe raziel could have wielded the reaver to its true power like kain infact even MORE so he is a true hero and a true angel.
Raziel spirit reaver was the purifying power if he had just wielded it the reaver would have been purified, perhaps not kain but the reaver and raziel was already pure he could see the elder god he IS the reaver.
@Terra1311 Actually, Raziel was both heroes, he was the Hylden and the Vampiric hero. It all depended on the choices he made and the outcome he chose. It was more of an inner battle sort of thing.
@LOKBLUDOM3N I know this game since soul reaver release, when I played it I was like 9-10 years old my favorite was Raziel then, but when you really get to know both of the characters and in all their complexity they are both just great, so I like them both in equal measure :P Love the series.

I would love an animated tv series or cgi movie of this game..if they did it right it would be fucking amazing. but then again they would most likely fuck it up
Every time I hear this, I remember playing as Raziel, and treading upon his old clan grounds, which have become ransacked and defiled over the decay of time. This theme kicks up, and as soon as it does, abominable vampiric goons start coming after me. I snag a spear off of the wall, and get to work. Shit has just gotten real.

@Ch1llma3xtr3m Asking for a game that would be developed under companies like EA or similar would totally destroy the game. Kain said himself "Sometimes you get what you wish for", however the price is far too great for it. Warcraft players received MMO...it ruined the series. They killed Arthas, Illidan etc...because people WANTED it. Than, they ruined Kotor series by MMO installment. Than a lot of games being reduced to primitivism such as Mortal Kombat vs DC... LOK series are golden. Let be.

What Raziel didnt think through is that Kain could have just gave the physical reaver to him and he coulda beat the elder god.
