Great Depression? Recession does not mean it takes you to the Great Depression. It is a part of economic circle and it happens at least every 7/8 years. Bush is not banker and CEO of GM. You misunderstood McCain's goal. He does not want Americans to depend on foreign energy. In addition to this, he wants to build a nuclear plants, which is much cheaper than any other energy resources. This would provide more wealth and more jobs. I would suggest to read Adam Smith's "Wealth of the Nation." My point is that if society and businesses can't creat wealth than there is no employment.

Colin Powell is one of the most respected and admired conservative Republicans of our time! The fact that he supports Obama, and admits palin is UN-qualified to be president, should speak VOLUMES.
His commentary about Obama's connection to Ayers speaks louder. The man is a traitor to the American nation. Anyone who believes otherwise should get off the spoonfed pablum of the Obama campaign & do some research for themselves.

In 2000, the REPUBLICANS destroyed McCain's campaign against Gov George Bush by attacking his character, his adopted child claiming he was hiding an adulterous affair & exposed his wife's drug addiction. And at the height of his campaign, they called him a homosexual. They also had ads plastered all over the TV with veterans claiming he had turned their backs on them.
Sometimes it takes a little KY to ease into a new angle. I lost some respect for Powell too during that time. However, it's important to understand that Powell is NOT a neocon. It's sad he cooperated with them. He has to pay a fair amount of creditablity for that. But he's made a step in that direction today. We'll see what's next.
Powell's statement was based on the documentation (or lack thereof) that he was given, and faulty "intelligence". He has addressed this many times. There is A LOT of blame to go around.
Powell was the former chairman of the joint chiefs. I'm not buying your argument that he feels he was tricked. He continues to say that the war wasn't a mistake. He repeatedly lied to members of Congress (- knowing something's wrong and not saying anything is still a lie). If he were honorable, he'd apologize.

You misunderstood McCain's goal. He does not want Americans to depend on foreign energy. In addition to this, he wants to build a nuclear plants, which is much cheaper than any other energy resources. This would provide more wealth and more jobs. I would suggest to read Adam Smith's "Wealth of the Nation." My point is that if society and businesses can't creat wealth than there is no employment.

Colin Powell never achieved anything other than rank.He never won any military battles, never did much as Secretary of State - except resign. I retired from the US Army, as did Powell - no cushy desk job like Powell but Combat Arms all the way. Powell, formerlly known as "the Teflon Man" because his mistakes never stuck to him, was groomed for top office back in the 60's as part of the affirmative action program. The GOP ultimately got what they deserved with their "stand up" man Colin Powell.

Try to follow along. The vast majority of Obama's supporters are white. However, 95% of all black voters voted for Obama in the primaries, and it is a good bet they will do so in the general election. This percentage of the black vote has NEVER gone to a previous Democratic candidate. It is no surprise the Powell endorsed Obama, despite his poltical affiliations. Even though Obama is a virtual unknown with highly suspect credentials and a wafer-thin resume, he is Powell's boy BECAUSE HE IS BLACK

I watched Powell on Meet The Press and he makes a strong case. I always felt our first black Pres would be a moderate Rep and I still think Powell would have won easily if he had run in 2000. I know I would have voted for him.
Too bad our first black Pres will be so far to the Left. IMO Obama (and Pelosi/Reid) will push the country hard Left as fast as they can and this will create a huge negative backlash and much hatred from the Right. My guess is Obama will overreach and fail.

Sometimes it takes a little KY to ease into a new angle. I lost some respect for Powell too during that time. However, it's important to understand that Powell is NOT a neocon. It's sad he cooperated with them. He has to pay a fair amount of creditablity for that. But he's made a step in that direction today. We'll see what's next.

Powell was the former chairman of the joint chiefs. I'm not buying your argument that he feels he was tricked. He continues to say that the war wasn't a mistake. He repeatedly lied to members of Congress (- knowing something's wrong and not saying anything is still a lie). If he were honorable, he'd apologize.

Wrong. I saw an interview with Colin Powell, during which he explained how he encouraged Bush to reconsider the war. HE said that they spent weeks discussing the consequences, economic and diplomatic. Lastly, HE has said on numerous occasions that he was given faulty documentation. The Administration basically used him to launch Bush's "oil war", then threw him under the bus when the American people realized that they had been punked!

Lies. I HAVE SEEN several videos on YouTube. Colin Powell explained the reasoning behind his testimony AND expressed remorse for having done it in the first place. On one, the journalist plainly stated, "Do you regret it?" He responded, "YES, etc..." Again, you are a bitter Repub. I do understand. This time I am done.
