I FEEEL bad for a pigeon because the one was on laying on the stairs and it was so weak it didn't move. I taught it was dead but it was still breathing. The eyes were squinded and it's head was curled up in a ball! so i think that was cool to witness.

You could always just kill the birds with a shotgun, or if you are in town a paintball gun or pellet rifle. There will always be more birds to replace them. Course that's why it wouldn't work lol. But it would be fun. And if any dove came, you could actually cook and eat them for a free meal.

For those who are concerned for the birds' welfare, please rest assured that there are many, many, MANY pools, bird baths, puddles, sprinklers, and other sources of water in the immediate vicinity. I'm a bird lover and the birds are doing just fine.

I would like to point out that letting ANY bird drink heavily chlorinated/treated water (like in a pool) is not exactly healthy for the bird. As for bird baths, if it is like my neighborhood there are plenty. He is just denying then the use of this ONE source.

Thanks for your concern about the birds. I, too, am a bird lover, which is why I was happy to find a solution that would discourage the pigeons without hurting them. Rest assured, there are many, many, many pools, bird baths, sprinklers, and puddles in my area for these birds to choose from! I'll guarantee you none of these birds died of thirst after I encouraged them to leave my spa.

A either an addition or a substitute, you might consider establishing an attractive bird watering station. Water that drips from above into a birdbath is very attractive to birds, or just a birdbath near the pool.

Actually, I bet it would work better on cats than it does on pigeons. The motion sensor works with pigeons, but it would pick up a cat more easily. You can adjust the sensitivity, too.
