OYE! ! ! : Que pasa USA... Yeah another hispanic ( Nicaraguian) checking in because good music is universal........To my son Christopher Iziah.. I love you papa! Peace ya!
The biggest surprise for me is that I just found out that James Brown wrote this song, but always heard Isaacs Hayes' version. Just recently found the reggae version of this.... Do your thing:Riddim
it's a DAMN SHAME THEY DON"T GIVER HER < HER RIGHTS TO OWN HER OWN MUSIC!!!! She MADE James BROWN I say!! She is kinda struggling now a days while the scum bag record company is getting rich as hell off her talenT!! The government should do what they do to people with real estate , put an eminent domain on the people who own her music , and give it back to her!!! so she can live life good too!!! I love Lyn Collins one of my favorite singers to sample from!!!
@cliff Lyn died in 2005. James Brown used to run his performance as a business, even the elaborate tuxedo outfits and the instruments of his players were owned by the band (aka him), thus, if you left or got kicked out of the band, you didn't have a decent instrument and equipment anymore. Brown did this on purpose to make the people dependent on him, and less likely to leave on their own without him wanting them to. I wouldn't be surprised if Lyn had some kind of raw deal like this with Brown
Lyn Collins (12 June 1948 13 March 2005) was an African American soul singer best known for working with James Brown in the 1970s. Contrary to some reports, she is not related to Bootsy Collins, nor Catfish Collins 1993, Collins' profile was given a boost by female dancehall singer Patra, who invited Collins to perform on her hit remake of "Think (About It)"; . . Shortly after returning from a European tour in February 2005, Collins died aged 56 in Pasadena, California, of cardiac arrhythmia
Compton's Most Wanted sampled this for N 2 Deep ft. Scarface - gangster beat right here...many others sampled this beat...that old funk is where it is at, GOD FATHER OF SOUL AND RAP right here

@rnbwsistah38 - I am one of Mr. Brown's biggest fans, but he did NOT write 'Do Your Thing'. Issac Hayes wrote it.
