I love the entire movie, every second, I beleave in re-birth and remembrances about it. But its not about what I beleave, the movie is so incrirable for me. I love her action, not only in this movie but in all the rest! Thanks.
gosh this movie is amazing! first time i watch this just for fun, then i watch til its end. even if the ending is confusing but i love the movie. the actors and actress is amazing good in acting.especially the young sean(cameron bright) and nicole. i love this. but it will be more cute if the ending is more clear. so we can conclude the story
When I first saw this film, I thought the ending captured her moment of loss. That is she had essentially lost him twice and the anguish came home to her on the lonely beach. She let herself be hugged by her new husband only because she was at such a devastating loss, she almost wasn't there, the shear incredulity one her face is heartbreaking!!!!
What can be more romantc that coming back from dead to reencounter a lover?
This film touch many human caracteristics jelousy, prejudism and the insanity when we face something beyond our comprehension, great actors, great film.
Notice the camera stays focused on Nicole, even when her husband steps into the picture. And notice that at 1:26, you can begin to hear her breath, like she's reborn in a sense. And then she turns away to walk with her new husband, as if the emotional release before that, was allowing her a new beginning. The white wedding dress is another highly effective use of symbolism here, signaling a new beginning. This scene is film-making at its best!
@Branigan4ever i actually see it as she runs away to the beach and stands feet deep in the rolling waves symbolising she wishes to escape to be apart of the world that sean is in, showing how she never really did move on from sean and she makes that very clear throughout the whole movie and i thinks its given this unconcluded ending done intentionly to help show Glazers idea of a eternal love that can never be broken not even by death.
That's too bad, because it's a very good film. Though I don't think the film, as a whole, is as good as this highly effective last scene. But to feel the full impact of this last scene, one needs to watch the movie to build up to it.
I completely agree. The music, the cinematography, Nicole's acting .......It's gotta rank as one of my favorite most dramatic scenes on film. I thought Nicole would win an Oscar for this scene alone.
This film was So very well done, and definitely underrated! I think we ALL have been there at one point or another. If you remember, Anna MET sean at the "beach" and now to be Re-married there to someone else? I am sure as she was standing there in the moment, she heard the sound of the waves and ocean..and was brought "back" to the Past that she never really will get over..Priceless.
I fully agree with your view. One of the great things of this closing scene on the beach -and for instance the great scene with Anna in the operahouse- is that it reveals so much of Anna's turmoiled inner world without any words or intervening talks. A very powerful film, one that stays always with me.
This is an astonishing film. I don't understand why it has been overlooked. I've watched it several times and I'm always wowed by Nicole's performance. Even her hair(which I think is great, by the way) plays to the starkness of the movie. Her desolation is awesome and terrifying. And that little boy, fantastic! Where is he now?
@breedak I know twiligh sucks,I meant that kid from birth is know in the twilight movies,I'm serious, read his filmography in wikipedia,he is fucking up his career, birth is very underrated and also the dvd ha no interview or anyting about the making of the film ,wtf>??!?!
It does not matter if your mother in law does not like you if, and it's a big, IF, Anna loves you with this strength. Otherwise, you fall victim to her listening to mommy who
This is basically how it ends...except the for the credits that is. If you watch the movie leading up to this scene it basically does make sense. Anna, played by Kidman, is finally dealing with all the emotions she had kept, or at least wasn't able to express, inside of her. Great movie...you should watch it sometime if you get the chance. It'll really make you think!
I love the entire movie, every second, I beleave in re-birth and remembrances about it. But its not about what I beleave, the movie is so incrirable for me. I love her action, not only in this movie but in all the rest! Thanks.

Emotionally, a deeply affecting film. It also serves as a reminder at to why Kidman stands apart.

Oh, God Danny Huston is so amazing. I mean I think he looks amazing for his age (46 years young, ha-ha).
I got addicted to watching 30 Days Of Night and the main reason I watch it is because of him.
I'm currently going to try and buy every movie he was in.
Does anyone else love the way his left eyebrow arches higher than his right one? I love his voice too.
He seems to stutter on his A's. It's so adorable.
.... Shut up, it's a healthy obsession. Lol.
