i remember ALL the Roxy Music tracks, as i was fortunate enough, that my elder brothers were massive fans, hearing them now takes me back.....i loved the album covers more lol..
it's like 3 songs in 1! it starts off as kinda twangy if i was seeing if i was going to hang with it, I think I'd pass at the start, if not for the movie flashbacks of a fool I woulda never heard of it, but then it just gets more & more powerful & haunting & builds to something quite unique...it's so funny how daniel craig knew where to start the record at the good bit, ok I have proved how old i am to remember Lp's lol don't know why i didn't know the song from way back then tho!! ty post! GB
Ah, early Roxy......love Mother of Pearl, Beauty Queen etc - but this was the greatest song they ever did (major to minor to major again, the sax solo, the mellotron, the backing vox)....simply magnificent.
I saw Roxy in Birmingham England in '72/'73, they did all the songs from the first album at the gig and I was literally about 2 foot from Bryan. In one particularly energetic moment he splattered me with his brillcream and sweat. Bloody awsome days, he seemed almost Godlike back then. Happy memories from my early teens, cheers for posting.
I have loved Bryan Ferry & Roxy Music since the early 80's - but never heard this song until I saw Flashbacks of a Fool. Hauntingly beautiful, pure, raw music!!!! Music will never be like this again.
almost a hymn like quality to this very early roxy beauty, when i play this track in my car it refreshes my mind and makes me feel great. if only bryan could write songs like this once again with the band it would be glorious.please let him find something again and 4get the sterile emptiness of output since 1980 till now.please!
I recall, as a deadhead wannabee in 1973 in santa cruz, california, seeing this album, openned, on display in a record store, and though, "...gawd...what is this!!??.."...however...."that crazy music drove me insane" before too long. I've gone thru phases over the years...stones....dead...roxy...I loved the 80s...white zombie....gaga...it's keeping me young, I think....it helps.
Theeee Mosssstt amazing song ever Nothing compares to david Bowie and Roxy music. The gutiar bridge was awesome..This is MUSIC..That gutiar switch up in crazy...It makes me feel I love it
the first time i heard this was in the movie flashbacks of a fool ,a great movie and this is such a great song , the movie would have been incomplete if not for this song...........
@icketypickety I agree with you, and I think it's cool that amazing tracks like this get noticed by people with great tastes in music. I was lucky enough to come parents with such taste in music, and even better, they gave me all of their old vinyl. A vinyl collection which includes Roxy Music, The Stones, David Bowie, and EVERYTHING that is cool, then and now! Modern POP music could only wish that it could do for it's fans what these groups will continue to do forever in their existence.
Cant get enough of this song, cant believe its not on there greatest hits album.

A masterwork. Like a glorious triptych. Man the Lover in three stages of development.
Blows me away still today, when I probably understand the lyrical content better.
Reminds me of my Ma too. When we were young... Thanks for posting up the full version with good sound too. Magic darts.

@puccini007 The vinyl edition of this one was one of the first records I bought and I think the first side of that album is all epic.
