In recent years, recent months in particular, I find myself stopping to appreciate birdsong... unfortunately the Thrush seems to be in decline.

I recall in 1999 I went to see Black Sabbath at the NEC... after the concert... maybe 2am, I was near the train station and this bird, surely a Thrush, was singing it's heart out... nice.

I shoot pest species often at dawn and so enjoy the early and late songs of these lovely creatures.

Most beautiful place in British Isles for such stuff is Dallas Moor south of Elgin.
