@Gavin17259 Usually I don't have time. But because there are so few robots in these competitions, I try to avoid unecasery meets to avoid repeat matches in later series.
Having re-watched this series again, I think it's fair to say that both finalists deserved to get there. Bladerunner got there due to some fantastic driving and great style (in the use of it's design to win matches), while Blade II got there with displays of well controlled aggression and punishing attacks.
what blade runner needs to be even more successful is the ability to make the top of his body flip up like opening the top of a box so he can throw the enemies he's picked up into the hole easier
At first I thought this was really lame.. but by the end of the video I was cheering for the bots to rip each other apart. In ways I can not explain, this is awesome.
Bladerunner has made some serious improvements... if you could somehow manage to actuate the wedge into a lifting mechanism it could be a fearsome opponent!
Yesh sir it is all original, I've re-recorded the main theme and I think I'll make some actual battle music for the...uh...battles. The fight music is just stuff from old bands or my personal archive
Wow, that sounds like a goal and a half :p Goodluck with the battle music, you should apply for a partnership soon, I bet you could get one. Give you more reason to work on the battlebots! :-)
@wallytwit It get's easier the more you build but each is different thus presents a new challenge with every competitor. I will TRY to make a how to video...
ochaye. easy way to get 7th series done: takes about 3 days of doing it. 1st day: do all the fighting/filming 2nd/3rd day do all the editing. then post each round/heat every week.
@vtvvtsa At the moment I find it hard to even have one day free, even then, I might not be in the mood or mr bro might be busy. Editting can be done in a day, but I don't like being on the computer for that duration...
Don't worry, it'll probably get done - but first I've gotta upgrade the robots!
I have never liked bladerunner from the moment i 1st saw it in seiries 1. interia was may favurite since it began. even so it has had hardly any suscess.
Although BII had suffered a much tougher beating it could still move on one side. It hit EQ's drive receiver, dislodging both motor cables and meaning EQ was completely immobile! Technically, BII won!
@tourdeforce17 dont get me wrong i have nothing against them i just think they are boring to watch. "oh they won by pitting. again." tell me the runner up isnt more entertaining :D
@Launch1995 I too prefer destruction over pushing; this version of Bladerunner wasn't intended to go THAT far, more of a test-bot to be upgraded next series which - straight after the final was filmed - I attended to...
@ochayedonald theres nothing wrong with bladerunner it just gets a bit stale after a while. im glad theres a new champion though! and i also like the new look of armageddon btw ;)
Bladerunner had been in one Grand Final in the 1st Wars, losing to Brute, then lost its touch in later wars - but now the 8th seed's pushing power pushed those with an active weapon (in fact, it would push almost every Lego combat robot!) and shall now get out of being the 8th Seed to 1st seed. I didn't expect Bladerunner to go this far, though! I thought he was too much of an "ordinary" robot until I saw his great pushing power when it beat Whiplash.
Best Series of Lego Robot Wars EVER!! I did find it quite a shame to see Earthquaker lose to Blade II. Blade II had the powerful axe in that battle.
However, NO robot in the whole history of Lego Robot Wars had the pushing power and was no match to Bladerunner! That robot had a history of chassis from the 1st War to the 5th War. Now, here in the 6th Great War the new chassis of B/R (especially the wedge) actually managed to beat X Champion Whiplash!
This title is really cool. It's gradually gone from what would appear to be a bit of fun to an actual very cool series of videos. I really hope you continue to do them. And maybe, just maybe, if you aren't already, get into some actual robotics? I am sure you have considered it but for not much money you could build yourself what is known as a beetleweight... a 1.36kg robot. Bigger and badder than an antweight but small enough to be cheap and destructive. Check out "fightingrobots.co.uk"! :D
@espermatazoide I would love to, but I'm completely useless when it comes to construction (welding, measuring, perfection, electronics) which is why I use lego! Maybe in the not-so-distant future, 1.36kg sounds good to me!
@ochayedonald Welding? Perfection? I'm gathering parts for my first beetleweight and so far I've done some simple searching and bought chopping boards. Yes, chopping boards. Cheap and readily available source of tough plastic!
You don't need much in the way of precision tools (and no need for a welder on this scale really, smaller bots can be all nuts and bolts!), you just need the ideas, the time and the inspiration (plus some extra cash lol) and you will have endless hours of fun, guaranteed!
Wow, shocked that a bot with no active weaponry could be champion. Blade II vs Earthquaker was a really awesome, competitive and destructive match (just how I like them), wish that was the final instead. Brilliant series, even if there was a long time gap for it.
Why was there no 3rd place match?
