Allah says in the Qur'an that Jesus' name shall be "The Messiah". So, we believe he is the Messiah/Christ, not A Christ, but al-Masih, THE Messiah.

@agreeableviews816 I don't think anyone is suggesting that Isa a.s. is not THE messiah, but the point is, "messiah" can refer to anyone who was anointed for a leadership role, and this is how it was used in the bible. This in no way takes away from the fact that the term "THE messiah" refers to Isa a.s.

The intention of showing that messiah can refer to any anointed person is to show that it is a title of leadership but not something that necessitates divinity.

@nobullnoble I grew up Catholic, been Muslim now almost 13 years. May God guide my words, intention, with regards to those of other religions; tell them of Islam, treat them with peace. According to Qur'an all Muslims understand that God commands no compulsion in religion. Faith cannot be impressed upon another under duress, in other words, it is a sin to force someone to proclaim adherence to Islam. It is also a sin to be the initiator of any violence. Murdering ONE is like murdering ALL.

@nobullnoble Where other religions complement Islamic teachings, we respect those teachings, but where other religions contradict Islamic teachings, we don't respect those contradictory things. Only a hypocrite respects what is contradictory to what he believes in. However, we still respect the right of every person to believe whatever they like, regardless of whether such beliefs complement or contradict Islam teachings.
