i love using the simple yet very powerful monofilament line- Mirage Speargun Pursuit, 500mm its soo easy to use i love it first time i used it i bagged a G.T
I bought a spear gun the other week and used it twice. I havnt actually shot anything yet becoz about 10 mins after getting in the water am like a block of ice coz i broke my wetsuit. But its pretty fun like serching the sea beds for fish :)
hi i use a kind of harpoon that's just tha bolt with a peas of elastic at one end ( no gun) what do you call them? If i get a wp cam i'll try take a few clips.
I just went spear fishing for my first time in Cozumel Mexico and i am hooked. Shot a 10lb barracuda and ate it. Fantastic. I cant wait to get back in the water and do it again!
Lol at 4:40 i am thinking.... "Why,Why! would you spear a shark" Reminds me of diving down on a Huge cobia at about 15m in 30m of water only for it to transform into a whaler :p.
I have done a bit of spearing and I am guessing that either you are a amazing shot and very experienced, or fairly new to spearing. I do eat my catch and have enough recipes to write a book, just in case you suspected that I don't. I am glad you enjoyed the video.
In many cases when I see a shark I simply realize that I am in a good spot. Sharks hang out where the fish are. In the vast majority of cases sharks will not do much, and if they do, they steal your fish. I know my sharks and know when they are getting excited and when they do I exit the water. But this hasn't happened much.
Sharks are everywhere. When i go spearfishing, i see heaps of em. Yeah they're scary, but they will never go for you. However, when you know a shark wants to attack. It will give you heaps of signs. For example, they will hunch their backs and swim really wierdly. So yeah, I'm 14 years old and have been spearfishing for only like a couple of months. but yeah have fun and no need to worry bout them, they wont harm you. And if they are going to attack, they will give you heaps of warning. Peace!!!
Are you sure you haven't mistaken a "Cobia" for a shark? Cobia do look a bit like a shark but are not even related. They are a great eating fish found in tropical waters.
Hay bro i got my first kingi last week nothing huge like yours the gun is powerful as hell no match for the mowong. hope to go for a dive with you soon cheers
Nice vid Loved the footage you got. hopefully i can get down to australia some time. Japan only has so many spots and not that big of a reef system. but great vid
Ha ha. Glad you liked the clip. Yes, the tiger came in... sniffed around and soon discovered the cobia frame that was innocently hanging from a rope, swallowed that and went off. All under the watchful camera weilded by Dave Jensen.
Good vid. Awesome calm waters,,,I wish Hawaii was like that,,It's dirty most of the time and overfished,,you got to go outer Islands to find game that tame. A++

you see heaps and still find them scary?
Never go for you?
It's the ones you don't see that bite. If you see one there is little threat, over 95% of attacks the diver never sees the shark.
Don't fear them but treat them with respect. After all you are competing with them on the food chain.
Great to see your enthusiasm after a couple of months diving.... it gets better and better :)
Peace
