I'm not a big Nicholas C. fan, but when I saw "Con Air" I fell in love w/ his character aside from seeing short glimpses of his other movies. Some people say that he's a Horrible Actor showing some of his movies, but I like "Con Air" b/c like he said he wants 2 be a "true artist". Seems like his character "Cameron Poe" reflects his sincerity & compassion. I Never knew he's such a Down 2 Earth - Candid person. I Really respect him!

i agree that he's good, but he's definitely always the same guy in all of his movies. there's not much character acting going on, but then again, not everyone is a character actor. nonetheless i really like the guy. i wouldn't go so far as saying he is amongst the finest actors in hollywood, though. that description definitely belongs to people like brando, pacino, de niro, streep, hoffmann, walken, rourke and the likes.

@mattd687 He is a bad actor, terrible at times - the roles you mentioned are the ones where he's drunk and not so self-conscious, so it works. You missed out Wild at Heart and Matchstick Men in which he's not bad. people don't rag on Pacino's less than stellar roles because he's a real actor who has studied under the best.

@pacovl46 They were panned but it isn't brought up as proof that De Niro and Pacino are bad actors. No matter what they do people will always bring up Godfather, Godfather 2, Taxi Driver, Scarface etc. as proof of their greatness. When films like Righteous Kill are brought up it is usually as a comparison for how poorly Pacino and De Niro chosen projects in the past 10-15 years.

It doesn't happen like that with Cage. It's "Did you see him in Wicker Man? He sucks as an actor".

@pacovl46 I don't think it was his accountant who screwed him over as much as it was Cage's overextending his means. Its pretty well known that Cage liked to live the good life and spent money on luxury and ridiculously priced items. I remember reading a report that his manager convinced him to put away a nest egg in case anything ever happened. But then he became an action star and started spending money like it was going to expire. He had to make $30 mill a year just to afford his lifestyle.

@pacovl46 Your right. He sued him for twenty million. It sounds more like a frivolous lawsuit used as damage control more than anything else. The guy counter sued for unpaid fees and asked for a much lesser sum (like $150,000). Makes the guy look more reasonable and honest and less like an embezzler to me. Either way, I just read that Cage is close to pay off his debts so hopefully when he is done with that he can take more meaningful projects that let remind everyone how great he is.
