Many people there were holding the "wrong" flag just as they were holding a sign saying "death to Khomeini" or "remember Neda" etc.

The truth is that the people there (ie me) got most of those flags from a few guys with boxes full of them who were passing them out to AMERICAN PEOPLE WHO WENT TO SHOW SUPPORT FOR THE PEOPLE OF IRAN WHO ARE FIGHTING/DYING FOR FREEDOM. Meanwhile, others focus their efforts on analyzing flags. Next, they'll check all the US flags to make sure there are 50 stars.

1. Why would a sane person prefer a monarchy instead of a democracy?

2. Who is behind the printing and handing of an obsolete flag?

3. Who benefits from this kind of media coverage?

Yes, the flags were handed out - most people don't have handheld-size flags conveniently laying around at home - refer to my previous post about that flag not having monarchist connotations (because it has a symbol of the Persian Empire on it, and not Islamic motifs like the current one)

There were monarchists there, for sure, but it was not a monarchist rally. The use of the flag has been misconstrued in the comments section (read my previous posts) - one of the most common chants at that rally (and a rather unwieldy one at that) was "Secular Democracy for Iran!"

I don't think it gets any clearer than that.
