  • omg 0:04 are dieing the people! its a scared feeling

  • where is the rocket ???

  • happy 4th of july lol

  • Damn you solid propellant!

  • I beleive this was the Delta 11 rocket that self destructed seconds after lift-off in January 1997. It was carrying an Air Force navigation satellite Delta is the most reliable rocket to date with just one launch failure and another partial falure out of 150 launches.

The red smoke is from the solid fuel boosters.

  • I bet the fuel was from Pepcon...

  • "We have had an anomaly....."

Really? So you mean it wasn't supposed to explode..........huh......

  • 00:03 oh firework

  • wáhnsinñ_gêbt_màl_beÎ_gÓOglë:_geldeasy_ëÎn_vòll_krÂss

  • we: ohhhhhh uncle Frank that was the best fire work I had ever seen next day NASA: ohh noobs waaaahhhtch this!

  • Good video. You can see that the explosion came from the bottom of the rocket where the engines were. I had heard that on launch that one of the engines failed and they "self-detonated" (blew up) the rocket rather take a risk that it continue out of control and kill someone.

  • @Klendathue That's not what happened, one of the JEM strap-on boosters exploded, causing the rest to explode.

  • @Doom2pro Sorry, GEM which stands for Graphite Epoxy Motor.

  • happy new year !

  • It's eerie how you can hear the roar of the engines, then at 0:18...BOOM! and silence...

  • This kinda looks fake.. B=

  • when are people gonna learn to cover the mic.

  • So this is what NASA does on the 4th of July....

  • Delta II was an inside job.

  • at 0:09 that's what we called the "EPIC BIRD!!!!"

  • that birds got a sick story to tell now..

  • Delta rocket is NOT a NASA vehicle. The 'red smoke' is rocket propellant

  • EPIC NASA FAIL

  • oops.

  • The bird at 0:09 said: WTF?

  • gay this vid does not load!!!!!!!!

  • sagt die scheisse am anfang?

  • @Plaayboarding

    Yeep!

  • cooooooool

  • LoL machen die silvester ohne uns o.O hoffe das keiner umgekommen is

  • sind da leute umgekommen?

  • Hehe. Someone said Scheiße. xD

  • "There has been an anomaly..."

  • wow, big kaboom!

  • Looks like a toxic storm brewin on the other side of the river.

  • best and most expensive firework ever!

  • BREATH IT IN EVERYONEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • theres a new cloud in the sky

  • This isn't NASA's rocket. It was Boeing's, now part of ULA. NASA may use it to launch some satellites, but it has nothing to do with this rocket, much less this accident.

  • well i'm glad this didnt happen last time I went to KSC...even though thats just an unmanned delta rocket

  • heh heh heh...It went boom boom

  • I want this firework for my birthday party!!!

  • Man, that red part of the cloud looks absolutely noxious.

  • If this had been a night launch it would have been disgustingly awesome!

  • devastation all over the ground and this putz is looking for a rainbow. sell your camera today.

  • wtf :(

  • Amen.

  • Oh man

  • This was caused by a 17ft. crack in one of the boosters that the engineers failed to notice! Easy thing to miss really!...

  • it was an internal crack in one of the graphite epoxy motors.

  • they will call this an accident but if you or me did this they would call us criminals, its funny how that card gets played

  • That was an expensive firework!

  • @zombieX111222333 oh hell yeah

  • what was in it?

  • The GPS 2R satellite.

  • Fireworks!! Delta II, NASA's workhorse! Spirit and Opportunity is still working. Spirit is stuck, but it's still working. After 6 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Китайский салют=)

  • Pretty fuckin big explosion.

  • imagine being the rocket scientist now, you go from being a rocket scientist, to being a shit rocket scientist

  • "You screw up just this much... and you'll be flying a cargo plane full of rubber dog shit out of Hong Kong!"

  • Happy new Year!!!

  • you can hear "scheisse" at 0:08...that means "crap" or "shit" in german! :D

  • @acharem or maybe they are just saying shit. in english.

  • @Dancrof80s ^^xD

  • did u see the mothman at 0:23?

  • that would be a great new years eve rocket :D:D:D

  • Was it manned at all?

    That's a pretty big explosion.

  • @xxxIRossHi

nah, If I recall correctly it was just an un-manned test Launch.

  • @xxxIRossHi Wait, no,

I just found out it was an un-manned failed GPS satellite launch and no one was injured.

  • This shit is more pretty than a woman's face.

    Nay, more pretty.

  • Die an Silvester und du bist der King

  • da kannst du aber von ausgehen :D

musst dir halt noch nen geeigneten abschussort suchen. Weil wenn dus vorm haus machst könnte die hälfte fehlen ;-)

  • deadly beautiful

  • too bad it costs so mutch cause it's prety beautiful

  • What a beautifull and expensive fireworks

  • the biggest ever made!!!

  • damn i want one of those for next 4th of july

  • when did this shit happen ?

  • January 17, 1997.

  • dang look at all that pollution there's no way all those chemicals can be good for the atmoshpere.

  • fuck that

  • This was expendable rocket fired from launch pad near beach. Had some friends in the control room. They were OK, however rocket pieces fell back onto their cars causing a lot of damage. Many had tough time with their auto insurance when they made claims. Seems insurnace didn't cover falling rockets...LOL

  • That's messed up. You'd think the site would have a policy that covered it.

  • im sorry but i heard no explosion in that video

  • Wie eine Silvesterrakete!!! zum Glück keine Menschen an Bord soweit ich weiß!

  • in which year or on which date was this? how many people were in this crew?

is there somebody, how knows the video from the start (discovery which drived from eileen collins)?? thank you

  • Forgot the year or whan it happened, but the rocket was talking a GPS satellite into orbit. Its unmanned.

/watch?v=appMDzLeT_Q&feature=related <- link to a better video of this.

  • This was an unmanned launch, so thankfully there was nobody onboard, and nobody was hurt/killed because of this!

  • this is not runescape! =/

  • THAT WAS SO AWESOME!!!!

  • that was one hell of an expensive bottle rocket bud worth every penny =)

  • wish it was at night.. woulda been awesome xD

  • awesome fireworks, shoulda gotten 1 for 4th july

  • i fell sry for them

  • 1:20 someone says "Was it suppost to blow up" - LOL

  • she said "it wast supposed to blow up".

  • @Ntone606 Only an American would have said that!

  • @Ntone606 She says, "It wasn't suppose to blow up!".

  • the worlds biggest firecracker

  • Yes, you don't want to be anywhere near that cloud. I recently attended a space shuttle launch, observing from Banana Creek at Minimum Safe Distance for LC 39 launches. We were told that in the case of an explosion, we would have to leave the area in our tour buses immediately, because the cloud that could be created would be very bad for our health if we got caught in it. You folks looked like you were pretty close to that cloud. I'd have gotten my ass out of there.

  • Next times this happens and you're anywhere near, *run*: that thing that's burning and producing white smoke (the SRB fuel) is extremely toxic!

  • That was a good fireworks show :P

    Expensive though :/

  • Comment removed

  • lol massive scale fireworks rocket

  • at 0:12 is that a bird???

  • yep it is.

  • quite a spectacular explosion

  • hrm...i think someone got fired...

  • what's with the red smoke?

  • It's a high toxic gaz called hydrazine. It is deadly through casual contact with the skin.

  • incorrect my dear Watson

  • It is NO2 (actually N2O4) nitric oxide which forms in high energy combustions, also lightning and photo-oxidant smog, like in LA or Denver

  • thanks.

  • So, that's what a billion dollar firework looks like!

  • sagt die eene da scheiße^^?

  • hab ich ma auch verstanden^^irgend son leises flüstern

  • Its unmanned retards

  • please say that was just fireworks!

  • Very expensive fireworks! :D

  • War das ein Unfall oder nicht ???

  • That's the most biggest firework I've seen. And best.

  • lol its the 4th of july

  • now thats a boom

  • HATS FU*KING SCARY!!

  • didt u people see thuse two coulds dudes on the sky one gray and one red it looks like two godess to me but its just my opineyin

  • oohh, expensive fireworks. classy...

  • Comment removed

  • I don't know...does that look a shuttle to you?

If there where people on board, you would've heard about this one a lot more, don't you think?

  • oh nvm sorry lol...i thought it had ppl on board. in that case, nice fireworks!

  • Shit happens. Quitchurbitchin and get back on the horse and try again. If everyone gave up with one failure we'd still be living in caves.

  • you fucktard. NASA is keeping mankind constantly moving forward. Don't you want mankind to populate other planets one day? What about intergalactic travel?

  • i was not saying they should stop space travel

just spend more time getting it right

or maybe and alternative way to travel

  • Yeah, they don't build those things just to blow up. In fact this is the only explosion of a Delta II out of its 140 launches.

  • what is the red smoke?

  • Please read the text! That is a very toxic mixture of different substances (one official NASA officer explained that in some of the early comments of this video) that were used for the fuel.

  • If the People of the earth would work realy together we would have less of these failures.

And we have reached goals we dreaming of,save money, help the 3.world countrys....

  • It's look like at tornado going on

  • More than 100 million dollars in fire...Nice one N.A.S.A

  • well and poor people

  • poor bird 0:11

  • was there ppl in there??

  • My brain may be a bit foggy, but I thought that was a Boeing effort, not NASA

  • You cut it off right when they were getting ready to tell us what happened. Not funny.

  • Accidents can and do happen. And they have a high probability of happening. With literally millions of parts,it's actually a wonderful thing if nothing goes wrong. That's one of the reasons NASA says there's nothing "routine" with any space flight.

  • they missed orbit injection velocity by 3.2 seconds... LOL

  • I thot it was .32 seconds...

  • just like a firework

  • someone pushed the wrong button

  • yep :D

  • quote redneck from nasa " Thats some of those homemade fireworks I made right there!"

  • uuuuuuuunnnnnnnnndddddd

    booooooooooooooooooooommmm

  • That's our government for ya!

    methodistgirl

  • lol methodistgirl that made absolutely no sense. get an education please

  • oh, look. Its an anomaly..better secure the grounds, ffs

  • damn you would think them boys at nasa would have that down to a science by now LOL

  • Failure of SRM internal insulation resulting in burn through of SRM casing and exhaust nozzle. SRM explosion ruptured core vehicle fuel fuel lines and resulted in the total destruction of the LV.

Toxic cloud drifted out to sea and dissipated.

  • hmm looks like its starting to rain

  • T+13 seconds there was a self destruct..... - I dont think so. Self destruct command will not be given so close to the ground.

  • Pyrotechnic by N.A.S.A

  • Nice fireworks guys. Wonder who got fired for that screw up. Looks like your engineers were trying to beat July 4th fireworks. Nothing like wasting more money on a light show.

  • lol the parts looked so nice and twinkly while falling towards the earth, like fireworks...and then exploding on contact

  • The best looking single firework ever.

Imagine how that would have looked like at night.

  • dat was pretty

  • wooow fireworks!

  • It's great to see original footage of stuff like this, instead of the usual multitudes of identical clips ripped from the Discovery Channel.

    Thanks very much.

  • Comment removed

  • NASA does not launch the Delta rockets. ULA does....

  • that would make the best firework

  • I bet it's a bit more than £50 a box of those!

  • that bird at 0:10 must be thinking: "holy shit!"

  • More likely: "Bloody humans, if you can't fly, don't try"

  • hey i saw this on destroyed in seconds on the descovery channel

  • It looks like firework

  • expensive fireworks eh?

  • Uhh Houston

  • Höre ich bei 0:10 jemand "Schei*e" sagen? ;)
