  • i can smell the wood on his guitar burning

  • Just saw Adrian Legg at the International Guitar Night show in Baltimore at the Gordon Center. He looks like a normal guy and then he starts playing and you wonder why he picked our planet. Plus he starts each song with a story involving dead people.

  • @squallerrleon dude indeed.

  • Well...Adrian is actually a very humble guy and is more likely to talk about photos that he has taken of ducks in the local park than guitar playing.

  • Yeah, I like it when he nods his head as if to say: Yes, I AM the ninth wonder of the world... thanks for noticing."

  • This guy is amazing. Saw him live in the '80ies and I was blown away big time. His album 'Lost for Words' is just great.

  • Awesome

  • i was transported to a new orleans swamp haha

  • Man, Bill Murray can PLAY! ;)

  • @TheMusicalSchizo Joe Pesci!

  • Very nice. If you like this you should look up "Ewan Dobson".

  • Legg crushes all. Saw him open for some dork at the Bamboo Room. I felt bad because by the 2nd song of the headliner the place was empty. You gotta have some nads to go onstage after this guy. This video is great, but see him live, and you just may go home and smash all your guitars.

  • Genius.........anyone got the tab for ghost in the hill?

  • MIND = BLOWN

  • Huge fan of thisguy,he never ceases to amaze me.

  • holy smokin man..

  • i think he typed in a cheat

  • who needs picks anyway? well, anybody but him.

  • This makes me want to learn fingerstyle. A lot.

  • I would love to have the lifehacks that he uses.

I mean, changing the tuning halfway through the song? Seriously?

  • @mayyujie Not only changing the tuning, we was using the tune change while he was playing.

  • Wow. First time I've seen an Adrian Legg vid. Excellent technique - not keen on the guitar itself.

  • Wow, that part when he is detuning the strings, whoa.

  • Just discovered Legg and I gotta say this tune is quite compelling and enjoyable. He appears to have a completely unique style and I will be checking out more of his stuff. Thx.

  • Best playin' the guitar is awesome.

  • I've seen this guy play up-close and personal, literally 5 feet away, on two separate occasions while playing at the Ovation factory. One of the most amazing players I'll ever see in my life. How he does what he does, to watch it that close, is simply mind-blowing. I wish he'd come back!!!!

  • So Proud Of My Grandad!

  • @CycloneHD - Bless you and your family then sir.....

  • Gibson.com’s Top 50 Acoustic Guitarists of All Time

    wwx.gibson.com/en-us/Lifestyle/Features/top-50-acoustic-1029/

According to the site above, seems to me that Gibson's selection is well based on the influence and contribute of each player to the acoustic guitar world...

    ps: I'm a Tommy Emmanuel addict! :P

  • geil...

  • Great playing, very innovative.

And he looks like Bill Murray.

  • holy crap, this guy is amazing! I'm blown away!

  • i may as well sell my guitar and learn the triangle...

  • @jcw3032 HAHAHAHAHAH

  • the person that disliked this could have only been Adrian Legg himself. Humble son of a bitch. i don't know how anybody could dislike this. maybe they are tonedeaf or something.

  • @defmonkey57 I Know Its Ridiculous Mate, Hes My Grandad Btw :)

  • @CycloneHD really? that is awesome man. you are one lucky bastard. has he got you playing guitar too? if so, do you play some of the same genre like him? or is it completely different?

  • @defmonkey57 Nah I Dont Play The Guitar Never Really Learnt But Im Thinking About It

  • @defmonkey57 LMAO!!!! Dude, I HATE the comments about the dislikes but this one is perfect! On Another note, I am seeing this dude tomorrow in Spokane, WA

  • @matthewjoe88 that's awesome. my friend John Cogburn is opening up for him in Asheville, NC in March, and John said he'd let me me Adrian (which would be a huge honor). John has done this with Adrian for a couple of years now.

and Spokane is where my favoite singer is from! that's awesome!

  • His fingerstyle is just the best I´ve seen. I may not like this music genere but Mr. Legg´s talent is great. I feel like a begineer after watching this performance

  • He's such a talented player. The string bending stuff - is mindbendingly brilliantly done. All credit to him [he also used to write hilarious articles for 'Guitar' magazine in the 70's]. There are so many of these 'super' guitarists who have devastating technique, but it can often become something of a grandstanding show for other players. Incredible to watch and experience, but musically rather repetitive.

  • @martinjp1958 I disagree about how you say virtuosos are repetetive what about. what about Gilbert? granted some do seem repetetive, but that's cause of their genre. Guthrie Govan seems rather repetetive, but he's still one of the best guitarists ever to pick up an axe. same with Shawn Lane, but there are virtuosos out there who are very diverse; Johnny Hiland, Greg Howe, Eric Johnson, Andy Timmons just to name a few.

  • Bricks have been shat in excess. This is just AMAZING!

  • I love the little nod to the audience at 1:47. Like, "yes, I AM that good. Thank you".

  • Just awesome!

Thank you and to Resonantforce for sharing!

  • this guy makes me want to cry myself to sleep

  • AL owes a lot of guitar players a new set of doors....

  • This is just... fun... I enjoyed this very much. Thank you for posting.

  • O.O

  • Amazing finger work!

  • This bloke's music just makes me smile it's just great.

  • man this guy is so amazing i saw this guy in my guitar class and when he did it was fucking holy awsome. and when he does that shit where he changes the tuning wilie playing i wana jiz my self

  • bravissimo, sicuramente non ha problemi per accordare la chittara al volo.....

  • Brilliant!

  • hey I guess them Stephan Grossman dvd's really DO work, at least for him, lol

  • crazy

  • impressionante!

  • I got to see him in Seattle when he opened for the G3 concert at the Paramount. Awesome player and funny as hell

  • Comment removed

  • i seen him in 2009 in the brindley in the UK, he's just a pure genious

  • ubernoob wants to lick this guys balls

  • Your right. He plays his guitar all the time in his studio. But hes been playing since way before i was born. All you need to do is keep practising and be dedicated to your instrument and you WILL be a great musician.

  • That was scaring!

  • Fuck.. I envy that man right there!! Why can't I be as good as him?? :'(

  • because you dont practice enough

  • No shit... he probably plays ten hours a day.

  • @Salguine 6 if hes rushed for time but yes around ten

  • practice

  • Wonderful

  • 10lbs of guitar playin' in a 5lb sack.

  • Sat three feet from this man at Salisbury Art Centre, Wiltshire, England. He played dozen or more tunes, all of which blew me away, that was about 1983. Damn if he doesn't just gets better, pure genius.

  • more treble please

  • I saw him with Satriani,Vai, and Eric Johnson on the G3 tour Idan't remember the exact year1990 something, the cool tuning while playing just blew me away an experience I'll never forget, and Adrian was the opener after we saw Johnson, then Vai, then Satriani! Mind boggling!

  • this man is peter griffin!

  • very skilling finger guitarist i like how he plays by tuning alot thats just fancy

  • I meant the nod at 1:47 not 2:53. That's the total time. Man. I must be still reeling from my not-enough-food training ride tonight. Sorry

  • I saw him in 93 at a small venue in Ann Arbor. Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. He never seems to come to VT. He'd so be a big hit up here!

I love the little self-deprecating nod of acknowledgment he gives at 2:53.

  • Saw this guy play in late 90's at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville. He's all this and more. He's a heck of a story teller and comic in between his acoustic pieces.

  • Love the Bluebird!

  • This is unreal!

  • That is beautiful and amazing..... he takes the piss in the best possible way :)

  • Nah, best acoustic finger style 93-96

  • i saw adrian live twice ,and i am ready for a third. no one does it like adrian legg!

  • I don't know why people were complaining about his guitar in previous comments. I think that it's voice complements his unique style. The aforementioned whiners should probably shut up and learn something.

  • this is simply amzing. I was starting to learn guitar, when someone said to check this guy out...

    Adrian Legg = Fingerstyling God...lol.

  • He melts frets...then your mind.

  • I saw this guy on the very first G4 tour when they were in Seattle, WA. He was the opening act and I couldn't believe what I was hearing.. that and he's funny as hell.

  • holy shit.

that's so far past fabulous i don't even know what to think because i'm pretty sure my mind has just been blown.

  • this guy is completely on top of what he's doing. i like the tune as well.

  • yeah that little smile says it all,. totally flashy but it really serves the music before his ego , which to me is the point. this is from the fingerstyle guitar legends volume one from stefan grossmans guitar workshop, if you like this get the whole vid, it has some awesome stuff from buster jones and john fahey. i will always be a john renbourn worshipper but these guys also kill

  • Wow, what an incredible guitarist. Probably a little weird, but the thing I liked most was that sheepish smile he had. You can tell he was enjoying himself and not just trying to impress anyone.

  • We had the opportunity to see him in Spokane Wa. a few years back. After the show he came down and talked with the folks that stayed after the show. He is a very nice person.

  • Wow. This is what creativity and knowing your instrument gets you!!

  • the cameraman misses the best bit, the tuning, go figure

  • Amazing performance....I see he's using banjo

pegs for the tuning trickery but does anyone know what alternate tuning he may be using.

    Incredible guitarist

  • I know he uses like open Dm and Gm for some things, I almost think this is tuned to open Dm

  • You can order the pegs direct from Bill Keith at the Becon Banjo Company, they run about $540-600 for three sets. I have them on my guitar and they are bullet proof. Don't buy the Schaller ones!

  • Those are Keith Banjo Tuners: They're available anywhere they sell banjos and what-not.

  • phenomenal guitarist... the de-tuning trick is fricking ridiculous! i've heard he has custom tuning pegs which allows him to do that... if not he definitely has absolute pitch, which he may have regardless... but still, he's one of the best guitarists i've ever heard, probably the best fingerstylist out there.

  • tommy emmanuel's also really good.

  • Technically brilliant player but not my cup of tea. Had to comment in defence of Martin guitars though. INFINITELY better guitars than horrible plastic ovations. Quite a lot better than Taylors. Though I am quite partial to Breedlove!!

  • Yuck Martin's ...martins are horrible instruments....Ovations Breedloves and Taylor are the top 3.....

Adrian needs a good instrument that can handle the alternate tunings that he does on the spot and martins can't do that they cant handle the different tensions

  • Ovation for years also had the best electric/plugged in sound...so with the tuning stability issue and the live sound...Ovation WAS the way to go.

  • Martin's sound BEAUTIFULL..you've obviously never played a good martin...

  • highly overpriced though ay

  • Most good acoustic instruments are.

  • lol that was my first thought as well fredrick

but then I am a Martin man hehe!!!

I would love to hear him play a real guitar

  • Such an incredible guitarist with such an aweful instrument!!! He deserves something better, no doubt about it.
