Just saw Adrian Legg at the International Guitar Night show in Baltimore at the Gordon Center. He looks like a normal guy and then he starts playing and you wonder why he picked our planet. Plus he starts each song with a story involving dead people.
Legg crushes all. Saw him open for some dork at the Bamboo Room. I felt bad because by the 2nd song of the headliner the place was empty. You gotta have some nads to go onstage after this guy. This video is great, but see him live, and you just may go home and smash all your guitars.
Just discovered Legg and I gotta say this tune is quite compelling and enjoyable. He appears to have a completely unique style and I will be checking out more of his stuff. Thx.
I've seen this guy play up-close and personal, literally 5 feet away, on two separate occasions while playing at the Ovation factory. One of the most amazing players I'll ever see in my life. How he does what he does, to watch it that close, is simply mind-blowing. I wish he'd come back!!!!
According to the site above, seems to me that Gibson's selection is well based on the influence and contribute of each player to the acoustic guitar world...
the person that disliked this could have only been Adrian Legg himself. Humble son of a bitch. i don't know how anybody could dislike this. maybe they are tonedeaf or something.
@CycloneHD really? that is awesome man. you are one lucky bastard. has he got you playing guitar too? if so, do you play some of the same genre like him? or is it completely different?
@defmonkey57 LMAO!!!! Dude, I HATE the comments about the dislikes but this one is perfect! On Another note, I am seeing this dude tomorrow in Spokane, WA
@matthewjoe88 that's awesome. my friend John Cogburn is opening up for him in Asheville, NC in March, and John said he'd let me me Adrian (which would be a huge honor). John has done this with Adrian for a couple of years now.
and Spokane is where my favoite singer is from! that's awesome!
His fingerstyle is just the best I´ve seen. I may not like this music genere but Mr. Legg´s talent is great. I feel like a begineer after watching this performance
He's such a talented player. The string bending stuff - is mindbendingly brilliantly done. All credit to him [he also used to write hilarious articles for 'Guitar' magazine in the 70's]. There are so many of these 'super' guitarists who have devastating technique, but it can often become something of a grandstanding show for other players. Incredible to watch and experience, but musically rather repetitive.
@martinjp1958 I disagree about how you say virtuosos are repetetive what about. what about Gilbert? granted some do seem repetetive, but that's cause of their genre. Guthrie Govan seems rather repetetive, but he's still one of the best guitarists ever to pick up an axe. same with Shawn Lane, but there are virtuosos out there who are very diverse; Johnny Hiland, Greg Howe, Eric Johnson, Andy Timmons just to name a few.
man this guy is so amazing i saw this guy in my guitar class and when he did it was fucking holy awsome. and when he does that shit where he changes the tuning wilie playing i wana jiz my self
Your right. He plays his guitar all the time in his studio. But hes been playing since way before i was born. All you need to do is keep practising and be dedicated to your instrument and you WILL be a great musician.
Sat three feet from this man at Salisbury Art Centre, Wiltshire, England. He played dozen or more tunes, all of which blew me away, that was about 1983. Damn if he doesn't just gets better, pure genius.
I saw him with Satriani,Vai, and Eric Johnson on the G3 tour Idan't remember the exact year1990 something, the cool tuning while playing just blew me away an experience I'll never forget, and Adrian was the opener after we saw Johnson, then Vai, then Satriani! Mind boggling!
Saw this guy play in late 90's at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville. He's all this and more. He's a heck of a story teller and comic in between his acoustic pieces.
I don't know why people were complaining about his guitar in previous comments. I think that it's voice complements his unique style. The aforementioned whiners should probably shut up and learn something.
I saw this guy on the very first G4 tour when they were in Seattle, WA. He was the opening act and I couldn't believe what I was hearing.. that and he's funny as hell.
yeah that little smile says it all,. totally flashy but it really serves the music before his ego , which to me is the point. this is from the fingerstyle guitar legends volume one from stefan grossmans guitar workshop, if you like this get the whole vid, it has some awesome stuff from buster jones and john fahey. i will always be a john renbourn worshipper but these guys also kill
Wow, what an incredible guitarist. Probably a little weird, but the thing I liked most was that sheepish smile he had. You can tell he was enjoying himself and not just trying to impress anyone.
We had the opportunity to see him in Spokane Wa. a few years back. After the show he came down and talked with the folks that stayed after the show. He is a very nice person.
You can order the pegs direct from Bill Keith at the Becon Banjo Company, they run about $540-600 for three sets. I have them on my guitar and they are bullet proof. Don't buy the Schaller ones!
phenomenal guitarist... the de-tuning trick is fricking ridiculous! i've heard he has custom tuning pegs which allows him to do that... if not he definitely has absolute pitch, which he may have regardless... but still, he's one of the best guitarists i've ever heard, probably the best fingerstylist out there.
Technically brilliant player but not my cup of tea. Had to comment in defence of Martin guitars though. INFINITELY better guitars than horrible plastic ovations. Quite a lot better than Taylors. Though I am quite partial to Breedlove!!
Yuck Martin's ...martins are horrible instruments....Ovations Breedloves and Taylor are the top 3.....
Adrian needs a good instrument that can handle the alternate tunings that he does on the spot and martins can't do that they cant handle the different tensions
i can smell the wood on his guitar burning
