No it's not the new Supra. It's the Lexus LFA, and they r only going to set 500 on the streets. I know cus my dad works at Toyota and Toyota maked it official the 28. oct.
yes lfa although it must be the "New" supra beacuse of the gtr all take that amazing sounding v10 over a tt v6 any day beacuse a tt is already on boost the
v10 is not so that means alot more power for tuning plus v10's sound hella mean i love 40 valve v10's got that italian breed sound with jap reliability
well the lexus and toyota are associated somehow i guess, the toyota designe ccould be exclusivley made under lexus now, so technically it IS the new supra. :)
oh my god i can't fucking wait for this shit to come out, i'm totally buying one. i don't fucking care how much it's going to cost. same with the new celica.
actually this will not be the next generation supra, i saw an interview of one of the spokesman of toyota/lexus and he said the supra will not be produced anymore, it's a closed chapter the supra.
Yh i found out a few weeks ago this aint gonna be named as Supra, but although the Supra generation hasn't ended yet. Infact a 4.8L Hybrid and 5.0L Supra are expected for 2010 from Toyota.
It doesnt matter what the name is to me. This looks far closer to a inspired new gen supra. I only wish the "supra" concept had as much influence as the lf-a. I hope they scrap the supra concept (such a horrible look) and consider the lf-a a sort of spiritual successor.
I'm a Lexus tech, the new Supra is going to be a similar model of the new Lexus IS coupe. The coupe Supra will be available with a v-8 or v-6, the v-8 based off the IS-F 5.0. The convertable is a v-6 only. I guess we just have to wait.. Can't wait for the first one with a problem!!
LoL the first vid was the new supra, the 1 in the nurburing was the L-FA from lexus, 2 similar car because Lexus and Toyota are practically the same car company.
kalle30 , I never heard that TOYOTA also releases a new model called Toyota F1
what I know when Toyota start a luxury car project under name of LEXUS, they called their project Toyota F1 car project.. but now have to change the name because of copyright of Formula One (F1)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
This is the new supra but Lexus is going to produce it,Toyota also releases a new model called Toyota F1 and both this cars has "roots" from Supra. But im not a supra FAN!
the LF-A is not the next supra. its a V10 super coupe sold under Lexus. The new Supra is under the working prototype FT-HS. There's some asthetic similarities, and I hope both come out, though admittedly with some front end changes to the FT-HS.
man i am wit u all the fuckin way because it is eitha this or the hybrid bull shit the FT-HS. that fuckin shit is unholy and just fuckin destroys the supra name. wat where they smokin when they made dat?
hell yeah, and will the hell didn't they keep the supra line up to date like nissan did with the skyline for example? at least they could keep makin the late 90's supra, like mazda did with the RX-7 until 2002
The Supra was produced until 2002, just like the RX-7.
As for the FT-HS, it would be the same platform as the LF-A, so it's likely that they might manufacture both. But neither is a Supra, so saying that it "destroys the Supra name" doesn't make a lot of sense.
yeah but how many supras were produced under the years from 98 to 02? not that many.....most ppl dont even know about that they were produced as most countries stopped the selling....and sweden didnt even get a single supra sold as sweden never got any.....crazy :o
Its a whole new car all together. If it did get the Supra name It certainly wouldn't shame it. It just posted a record 7 min 24 sec lap on the Nurburgring. That beats the brand new Porsche GT2 by 4 seconds. I'd think it'd represent the Supra name quite well.
it would shame it in terms of looks and heritage. nissan kept the heritage of the skyline b/c it uses a twin turbo 6 and has hints of the old skyline in it. Tail lights GT-R badge and is still made under Nissan not infinti
Not really. The GTR is a continuation of the Skyline series. The LF-A, on the other hand, is not a continuation of the Supra. It's just a super high-performance coupe manufactured by Toyota. Anyway, it only takes the slightest glance to see that Toyota has changed their image, and that a $100,000 sports car has no place whatsoever in their lineup.
Nissan stated local distributors can decide whether or not the car will be labeled a Skyline for their market. Its a demographics thing. Either way, it's the R35. Seeing as how the R30, R31, R32, R33, and R34 were all Skylines, the legacy is pretty obvious.
But this is all aside from the point. The LF-A has not the slightest hint of trying to be a Supra, from statements by Toyota to the design. Its not that I don't want to see another Supra, its that this is isn't a Supra.
It depends on how they'll market it, it might be renamed to Toyota LF-A, Toyota Supra LF-A, Lexus Supra LF-A (you get the idea). People change their minds, we'll just have to wait.
Initialy the GT's and the GTR's where based on the sedans. But the R31 and proceeding sedan models where based on the coupes, which is why you'll find that they share the same wheelbase and backseat leg room, drive shaft, gear-box, etc. The R34's where the last Skylines to have the 'R' series tag. The R35 is a GTR, not a Skyline. Replacing the Skyline GTS's are the Skyline 350GT's (2dr and 4dr) that share the same engine as the Murano, Maxima and 350Z.

the names lexus even cames from, (luxury cars for US) which basically what the Jap's intended it to be.

exactly. Supras are not meant to be luxury sports car. They are Cars. Just like a mustang is a "muscle car" and not a "sports car".

Think. Why would Toyota want to release LF-A, which will be 220K car under the name of Supra in Japan?
Lexus brand is now in Japan, so those silly names will not be used anymore. LF-A will be LF-A.
InfinitiGPower 3 years ago
Ehh no your wrong about Toyota & Lexus. Lexus is still under TRD. In 05, it was released to Japan as part of the global expansion of luxury division.

Pay attention. That is why I said those silly names will not be used ANYMORE, meaning Toyota has been giving silly names to Lexus cars in Japan.
And since Lexus brand is now in Japan, LF-A will be recognized as Lexus in Japan.

No i didn't mean the silly naming thing. But I understand now. Missunderstood it. I thought u mean't Lexus was a single company now. =P

true but if the lecus lf-a is the same as the supra. Then it adopts this wonderful V-10 that produces 500hp sound better than nissans v6 twin turbo
