I don't have any tattoos but I love seeing them. I especially like striking or artful solid designs on arms. I saw a picture of some lady somewhere that had tiger stripes on her arms and legs. It was pretty neat! But definitely once you go full-body tattoo that's stepping into a whole different territory. Anyway, maybe someday I'll get a tattoo, but I think mom was right because her opinion echoes many others who say if you want a tattoo put it everywhere in your house for a year.

I just love seeing what an artist can do with a vision or a sketch. Some of the ones I've seen featured on shows before from around the world are so stunning. I saw a whole back tattoo of two geishas drinking tea that was one of the most beautifully designed tattoos I'd ever seen.

Have you searched tatoos on Youtube? There are some weird ones out there. I've seen some on TV that were so stunning. As you said, countless hours. I've seen some full back tattoos done in Asia that were considered true works of art. When the person passes away, they actually keep and hang their skin. Not sure I'd go that far, but they were beautifully done.

I know a lot of women who have tattoos and I rarely comment on how unattractive I find them (the tats, that is). Even the otherwise cute little roses and butterflies, they just leave me cold.

Years ago my best friends told me she was going to get a tat of a pheonix on her ankle and the tail feathers would wrap around to the back. Well when she came back from the artists I couldn't believe how big it was, not at all what I expected. It was HUGE! It started at her knee and went all down her shin to her ankle. It was terribly hideous. I could never tell her that, but I think she felt the same way. She never wore shorts again. At least if I want to, I can hide mine w/a pair of socks!

I have a tattoo on the back of my neck of two hearts with the intiials MM in them. It sort of mimics a bracelet my Grandma got back in the 40s. So, I got the tattoo as a surprise to her.

On Thanksgiving I mentioned I wanted a tattoo, to which my mother said she would disown me. Next day went and got the tat without telling anyone :)

Moral of the story is my mother still calls me her daughter :-p
