  • Now available on DVD at Amazon! You'll need a region-free DVD player, also at Amazon, such as a Pioneer with HDMI. They are affordable now. It's a good movie, with some big name actors. The 6 foot Ann Turkel adds color.

  • I need subtitles for this film - is anybody see it?

  • Great film, i've got a good condition original vhs version in my Richard Harris movie collection. i'd like to see a dvd version released though, i mean lets face it, its better than some of the crap we see these days. Old classics like Golden rendezvous seem to getting left behind for some reason or another. I think i'll dust off my dvd recorder and copy it myself lol

  • @Wildgeese73 They released a DVD of it in Japan under it's alternative title of "Nuclear Terror", not sure if there were any other changes.

I'm trying to find out if there is a version where Richard Harris fights John Vernon with dual machine pistols as this is how I remember it when I saw the film as a kid but, my copy has him using a single machine gun. I'm not the only one who thinks they've seen this but, I can't find any evidence.

  • @reckley can't say i remember it that way but i'll have a look at my copy and get back to you ok bro.

  • @reckley I've watched my copy but harris only uses one gun in this version.

  • @Wildgeese73 Thanks for looking.

It's odd because someone else I discussed it with, online, remembered the dual machine pistols but, any copy thay've lately he only uses the one machine gun. I'd say we'd both misremembered it or confused it with another movie but a review on IMDB has "...it would have been great if Harris hadn't resorted to some silly derring-do with dual submachine guns..."

  • can anyone convert their video version to dvd please!!

  • i saw this movie as a kid, what stuck with me the most was the music, incredible soundtrack, wish i could get it on dvd

  • @darkestfugue: It's Jeff "War of the worlds" Wayne. List to that album and you can hear the immediate similarities between that and "Horsell common". This melody is nicer but it has the same eery quality. The music becomes even more ominous and unsettling during the nightly investigation by the Harris character during the stormy night. Very very VERY effective.

  • The soundtrack was awesome, making good use of synthesizers that were not widely featured yet in popular music.

I don't know why the soundtrack record (EP) was released only in Japan.

  • Classic hostage thriller.

Music score was also a classic.

Those were the days when the late Richard Harris used to date Ann Turkel.

    Brilliant actress she was.. lol

  • Czy ktoś wie gdzie można kupic ten film lub ściągnąć ? z góry dziękuje..

  • Mam go w serwisie eBay

  • Agree with all the comments on here. I remember watching this film on a couple of occasions when I was a child. Last time on ITV in about 1986, I think. I remember it as being a fantastic film - a real boys own adventure. Why is it never shown now? The Cassandra Crossing is often on TV. I keep looking out for a DVD of it. Shame it was deleted from here if it's never shown on TV and not out on DVD, seems its just been lost to the world. (I'd like to see "A Short Walk To Daylight" too.)

  • I loved this film as kid haven't seen it for about twenty five years. And it was posted up a few monthe ago but I missed it! Shit! If anyone has it pls post it under a dummy account or sommat

  • I cannot but agree with you. Saw it last time for at least 20 years ago. I loved it. The music also. Alas, it seems it is impossible to get hold of.

  • I would love to see the whole movie. I am reading the book now, in icelandic translation.

  • Someone did put the whole movie up on here but their account has been suspended.

It's a shame as the copyright holders haven't released it on DVD, it was briefly available on video but it's very hard to find a copy of it.

Many films will never get seen again because of this attitude.

  • The whole movie was here a week ago, but someone decided to be a turd from YouTubedmeAgain.

  • Classic, tough guy movie.

  • Thanks for posting man - theme tune still kicks ass!

  • Ive uploaded the whole movie for you guys

  • A widescreen version too! Good stuff!

  • gotta love the prophet 5 !!!!! now £2000 on ebay for a mint one, if you can find one .did not think i would find this on here, many thanks for posting this.

  • "i said, put it to full ahead!" or izpoodittofool ahead.

  • This one of my fave movies of all time.

You think the opening music is good you should hear the music just after the Unicorn one has had the destress message, Brilliant.

I have this movie on VHS and why its never come out on DVD with a 5.1 mix is beyond me.

    Cracking movie. 10/10

  • As a child I watched this film that many time I knew it word for word, where is the rest of the film? I hope they put it on?

  • Bit of trivia......Richard Harris was married to Ann Turkel (the hot babe) at the time of filming

  • that explains why I cant find a copy anywhere....the music is brilliant

  • Any movie with Burgess Meredith and John Vernon can't be totally unwatchable, surely!

  • Great music. It shows the signature of Jeff Wayne instantly. It is the same as when the Martians attack in his phenomenal "War of the worlds" production.

The film is better than one might think. Again Jeff's work adds to that. When in the beginning the stow away invaders start taking control of the ship, the spooky music really adds to the foreboding atmosphere.

Thank you very much for this clip. I wish someone would release a decent CD of it.

    Kind regards.

  • I love this movie even with all it's faults.

A CD isn't likely, it was only ever released on video, now deleted. I managed to get a copy converted to DVD on Ebay before they got sniffy about that sort of thing.

  • Thank you for this! The music is beautiful...and the rest of the sequence lets us know the movie itself is avoidable. The director's decision to repeatedly cut to Richard Harris standing about looking bored and lost is warning enough.

  • I'd love to, but it would take far too long.

  • would you post the rest of this obscure film?
