  • maybe I can be more constructive. I learned to blow glass in this very studio, David is awesome! I've since worked in a production studio making huge (6 or 7 gather) plates, and we boxed one every ten minutes. The key is this, nobody should be sitting doing nothing. It's been a while, so I'm not sure if Anthony still works at Paly on weekends with Mike and Steve doing production work, but if they do; watch them, a lot - copy what they do as far as teamwork, you'll be much more productive :)

  • your line seems a little slow chris. the bubble and colour starter should start working while the top and stem is added. if a 3rd bench is added close to the annealer and the glory hole then there should be no problem. Then bench 1 and 2 can be used for shaping. bench 1 does all the shaping and heating before the mold and bench 2 does the final shaping. this way you are still working on two at a time but the color app and stem addition are not getting in the way of blowing the piece up.

  • we usually have 4 person team.

    one gaffer.

    one starter.

    one stemmer.

and one assistant for blowing and doors.

that way the movement keeps happening.

when we have 3, it moves a little slower. we could split the 6 people into a 4 person team and one 2 person team but it doesn't work well. and we prefer not to do the trade off bench thing. too crazy with the way our shop is set up.

  • oh. you might want to move the shop around a bit then. its fine for just blowing but b/c you guys are doing production work you need some more room and ease of traffic.

  • mmmhmmm... sure.

  • there isn't much traffic either. the only crossing of traffic is the two stemmers who have to share one dish of color. and we stagger the pumpkins so there aren't two pumpkins, or stems being made.

maybe you should come check out the shop and see how we do it before you tell me what i SHOULD be doing. because its kind of annoying when someone who hasn't been to this shop in YEARS and hasn't blown glass in MONTHS tells us what to do in our own shop.

  • it is just some ideas in case you want to improve the line. take it or leave it but you dont have to act immature and defensive about it.

  • k thanks.

we'll stick to what we've got. it works and we get 3 pumpkins done in about 30 minutes. thats pretty damn good.

  • you are also a fag and probably suck at blowing glass. make a video with better pumpkins and then try to talk shit.

  • no one is acting immature or defensive, youre being a punk bitch thats trying to act like you know everything about running a line. make pumpkins better then us and as many as us in the time frame that we finish and then talk. Post a video faggot.

  • #1: f blow hoses.

2: you can make 3 GOOD pumpkins in less that 38 minutes with 2 people?

    3. opening doors yourself isn't that easy considering we don't have a place to hang a door hook (like a heat shield)

  • i just find it a little annoying how you call me out saying you can do better but are totally against proving it.

  • youre a fucking fag. stfu, you couldnt make a pumpkin if your life depended on it. don't act like you know how to make them if you've never done them before.
