Pause at 0:06 you can kind of see a figure in the boat with james...so I guess james is talking to mary's corpse. That's just creepy.

From SH3, and SH4, we can find that, the main actor, kill their beloved not by themselves, but unconsciously kill because they were possessed by demonic power. It suggested that James may not kill his wife himself, but because at that moment he was possessed by demon power, eg pyramid-head, etc.

@Raymen2000 It can only be done once you've already played the game, so use the same memory card. In the blue creak apartments, pick up the "White Chrism." At the Texxon Gas Station, pick up a newspaper. At the Historical Society, there's an "Obsidian Goblet" in a smashed display case. After watching the tape in the Hotel, go to the reading room on the 2nd floor, and grab "Crimson Ceremony." You should get this ending if you get these things.

@WiktorWillow WOW, I really think is a very sad ending, I don't find the humor no where. James isn't acting, he actually knows, he loved, and will love so much his wife, but he killed her in a mistake...James couldn't withstand Mary's suffering, and he was really angry to see her always sick.... and he killed her, so she can't feel more pain of living like that, always sick. But anyways, is bad that too, you can't kill someone for that. This is the story, or almost what I understand of SH2 xD

I mean this is horribly evil. But...at the same time...could work? Silent Hill originally was a paradise until people tainted it war (with the natives), disease, and bloodshed. A world without suffering, a world where James could live with Mary. And the townsfolk fucked it up and became this.

LOL the first, third, fourth and origins are about the "God" (Samael) which they are trying to summon in the ending of almost every game, It's what silent hill is all about

@TheButcher123100 well sort of no, Walter was raised in a orphanage, which was run by the cult (as Claudie, from the third one), and he murders people in some sort of ritual to create, resurrect or whatever The God (Which is also mention in Silent hill 2, as a question in the "trick or treat, game show", and I think it was mabye also mention in the news paper you find in trash at the apartment, if I'm not mistaken. Btw I am Zilent) so I think that has something to do with the cult thingy

I actually quite like this ending. I like all the endings, actually. The "Leave" ending is my favorite, but this one has a creepy, morbid "Dr. Phibes" style to it that I very much dig.

Anyway, the subtle horror in this scene is apparent from the calm, smooth tone the voice-actor assumes while he's talking to Mary's corpse in the boat. We can only assume it's her corpse that he had shoved in the back of his car when he came to Silent Hill. How much better would Silent Hill 4 have been if it had been about James performing the 21 Sacraments for the Descent of the Holy Mother to resurrect Mary?

This is, in my opinion, is the "worst" ending of the game. His sorrow for Mary's death he driven to the point of turning to the use of rituals that worship demonic hell spawn to try and bring her back.

And we all know the REASON Silent Hill's f***ed up BECAUSE of the machinations of the cult which worship these gods. Imagine how much WORSE things would turn out if James restarted this cult...

That said, this ending is nothing about the cult seen in 1, 3, or 4. Claudia is the one responsible for restarting it.

Everything you read for the Rebirth ending deals with Indian beliefs. The subject of the cult remains entirely untouched.

The holy assumption is a dark arts ritual. The 21 sacraments is another ritual that can be seen in the cult's bible. Walter wants to create his own world, a world that was free from suffering and full of freedom.

But even he have his own world, he'll never be happy forever.

The player never sees him perform the ritual. It is up to the viewer to decide whether or not James has simply lost his mind and is chanting over a corpse or if he actually succeeds in reviving her. But, will she be healthy when she is revived?

Actually, it's an automatic: you must complete the game once. Then, you must either complete all of the other endings in order to get it OR simply collect 4 items and then complete the game to get this ending.
