And if you pay attention to what he said in the video, he said something along the lines of "if you want to be a purely healing class, you can't be - you'll hate this game its not for you" (I think I got the general idea of what he said). So, I was being sarcastic and playing off of what he said.
Oh, and there aren't enough people PLAYING the healing classes either - unless you count the Order. Chaos side seems surprisingly barren as far as I've noticed. : /

there no totally abandoning the healer class there just saying every class has the ability to do damage. however i still think a healing class will emerge as the class which heals the best is usually going to be designated as the healer in groups (there is heals in the game if you have played or seen vids). im glad mmos are starting to break away from the concrete class system. if any1 has ever played guild wars you know how monk can do no damage. i think wow is a bit more diverse in the classes

So instead of a having a warrior that is mace specced or axe specced or sword specced... you now have 3 different classes that can only be one of those.

Your wrong :-/ first of all there are going to be 4 diffrent types of diffrent warrior classes specs just like 4 diffrent ranged dps speccs for hte 4 diffrent races and IN those races there will be three diffrent ways you can go so it will be MORE unique and specified than any other MMORPG out there unlike lets say WoW where for some reason gnome warriors and tauren warriors fight the same way.,...
I'll make this as informative as possible. WAR has four archetypes: Tank, Melee DPS, Ranged DPS and Support (buffs and heals). Every archetypes can do good damage, even Support. Every race have unique versions of these archetypes. Also, every archetype have three different paths they can go to make the character more unique. The Bright Wizard for example can specialize in AOE, DOT or massive damage on a single target. You can even mix these paths to some extent if you don't want to specialize.

They should have done the same with WoW tho, making the classes more diffrent from eachother. Like orcs warriors can only use axes and tauren warriors can only use big hammers. Warhammer will be a great game according to his additude :) Can't wait.
It'll be interesting as to how well they can balance the 24 classes. Thats one of the tough things about a MMO with alot of different classes. Getting proper balance. And then once you get balance, maintaining the balance as the game progresses over time.
yea but to be fair, every single MMO has balance issues that persist from day 1 of beta to the day the last subscriber cancels their subscription, it's the reason why they have a team of people who stay with the project after it releases, to maintain it and constantly make sure it's balanced. If a game was completely balanced from Day 1 then the characters have no dimension to them and are just cookie-cuts of each other. ;)
Those "public quests" look amazing and the PvP looks better than WoW. How you don't need to wait for a raid group or anythign like that, you can just join in whenever you want, so everyone gets involved. Also, how every single level can contribute the entire RvR.
Of course the PvP is better than WoW. WoW is a PvE game, WAR is a RvR game. Two different genres, and to anyone who has played Shadowbane or DAoC, this makes sense. But to the people who have only played WoW and only know what Blizzard has jammed into their faces, it's hard to imagine a game that will be 100x more fun to play.

With all of the paladins griping, I'm glad somebody finally decided to make a point. Many paladins are disappointed with their experience in BC. I'm sure many of us will be more than happy with the Warrior Priest. There are no healbots in WAR, and that guaranties us our rightful spot on the front line.

blizzard is experienced with making a balanced combat system from war1/2/3, starcraft, diablo 1/2, but they have trouble making NINE classes balanced for pvp. I don't see how this game can be balanced properly.
This is a good question. WoW has less classes, but the fact that they can do a lot of different things keeps it interesting. If hammer man does nothing but hammer, am I going to need nothing but two hotkeys? Dispite that, this game is exciting.
Obviously you've never tried DAOC. They had specs for each weapon. There is plenty of variety. I can also promise you that there will be knockback and knockdown attacks as he stated. As well as most likely a stun.
Add in several dmging or defensive attacks and you have a basic starting point for what hammerer's will prolly have.
Actually, The warrior priest is REQUIRED to meele to even build up the energy (righteous fury) in order to heal. All heals are instantcast, so you dont need to be in the back healing.
There are classes with support and heals, like the warrior-priest. The hook is that their healing is dependent on active combat. Warrior-priests will have a Righteous Fury bar that works similar to Rage in WoW. If you want to effectively heal, you need to be up in melee. The whole idea is to get support classes more actively engaged in raids. Not only does this make the game more fun, but could go a long way to dispelling the second-class citizen status that many healers in WoW experience.
Interesting to see a Brit ham it up like a yank. At any rate, it's a fundamentally good sign that there's clearly this much passion behind the design of the game. That goes some small measure towards combatting the sense of forboding I have that this is anythign to do with Mythic. And EA. Oh and I think there's a lot of people who might take exception to the idea that standing up the back and healing is doing 'nothing'.
This is the same thing they did in WoW. "We don't want classes to JUST heal, so healing classes can also do damage!" and we ended up with two years of Shaman and Shadow Priests owning EVERYONE ALL THE TIME because a class that can DPS and can also heal itself, will always ALWAYS defeat a class that can DPS and cannot heal itself.
They say that, but i'll be willing to bet that the healers will be forced to heal. Every character in WoW that can heal can also deal damage. Are they allowed to in raids? nope

The game IS raiding. The PVP(RVR) goal it to pillage other cities. you can even control the for a short while if you raid them successfully.

It'll be interesting as to how well they can balance the 24 classes. Thats one of the tough things about a MMO with alot of different classes. Getting proper balance. And then once you get balance, maintaining the balance as the game progresses over time.

yea but to be fair, every single MMO has balance issues that persist from day 1 of beta to the day the last subscriber cancels their subscription, it's the reason why they have a team of people who stay with the project after it releases, to maintain it and constantly make sure it's balanced. If a game was completely balanced from Day 1 then the characters have no dimension to them and are just cookie-cuts of each other. ;)

Those "public quests" look amazing and the PvP looks better than WoW. How you don't need to wait for a raid group or anythign like that, you can just join in whenever you want, so everyone gets involved. Also, how every single level can contribute the entire RvR.

Of course the PvP is better than WoW. WoW is a PvE game, WAR is a RvR game. Two different genres, and to anyone who has played Shadowbane or DAoC, this makes sense. But to the people who have only played WoW and only know what Blizzard has jammed into their faces, it's hard to imagine a game that will be 100x more fun to play.

Yeah, I play WoW and I'm getting really bored with it. This game looks amazing, but we'll see in the BETA and when it comes out. Chaos is what I'm thinking and does anyone know if this is a monthy payment game?

yes 24 classes :) 4 dwarfs, 4 empire and 4 high elfs (the good boys) and so the bad one 4 greenskin, 4 chaos and 4 dark elf. so the awsner is YES ;P

This game is gonna be all sorts of suck. the grass is not greener, wow geeks. And i guarantee all this QQing about "wow isnt made for 1v1 pvp" will be even worse in this game. There will be OP and there will be crap. and people will QQ over both.

I signed up for BETA, hell I'm about to preorder I'm so sick of WoW now. If WAR isn't good, which obviously will be I'll go back to console and wait for a new MMO. WAR > all imo!

With all of the paladins griping, I'm glad somebody finally decided to make a point. Many paladins are disappointed with their experience in BC. I'm sure many of us will be more than happy with the Warrior Priest. There are no healbots in WAR, and that guaranties us our rightful spot on the front line.

Hey man, i love your comments, and i cant WAIT for this to come out. But just between you and me, your aggressiveness against healers and pansy medics....you really dont like World of Warcraft, eh ? hehehee. I hope Warhammer Online mops the damn floor with World of Warcraft. Alot of people playing WoW just play it cause there arent any other good MMO's out there. When Warhammer Online comes out...well, Blizzard can kiss it all goodbye. WAAAAAAAAAGGHHH!!!!

blizzard is experienced with making a balanced combat system from war1/2/3, starcraft, diablo 1/2, but they have trouble making NINE classes balanced for pvp. I don't see how this game can be balanced properly.

This is a good question. WoW has less classes, but the fact that they can do a lot of different things keeps it interesting. If hammer man does nothing but hammer, am I going to need nothing but two hotkeys? Dispite that, this game is exciting.

Obviously you've never tried DAOC. They had specs for each weapon. There is plenty of variety. I can also promise you that there will be knockback and knockdown attacks as he stated. As well as most likely a stun.
Add in several dmging or defensive attacks and you have a basic starting point for what hammerer's will prolly have.

Actually, The warrior priest is REQUIRED to meele to even build up the energy (righteous fury) in order to heal. All heals are instantcast, so you dont need to be in the back healing.

There are classes with support and heals, like the warrior-priest. The hook is that their healing is dependent on active combat. Warrior-priests will have a Righteous Fury bar that works similar to Rage in WoW. If you want to effectively heal, you need to be up in melee. The whole idea is to get support classes more actively engaged in raids. Not only does this make the game more fun, but could go a long way to dispelling the second-class citizen status that many healers in WoW experience.

Interesting to see a Brit ham it up like a yank. At any rate, it's a fundamentally good sign that there's clearly this much passion behind the design of the game. That goes some small measure towards combatting the sense of forboding I have that this is anythign to do with Mythic. And EA. Oh and I think there's a lot of people who might take exception to the idea that standing up the back and healing is doing 'nothing'.

This is the same thing they did in WoW. "We don't want classes to JUST heal, so healing classes can also do damage!" and we ended up with two years of Shaman and Shadow Priests owning EVERYONE ALL THE TIME because a class that can DPS and can also heal itself, will always ALWAYS defeat a class that can DPS and cannot heal itself.
