  • "Why doesn't F1 bring glamour to Northampton?"

"Because it RAINS a lot in Northampton!" Good old Mika

  • Why Barrichello is tagged but not Häkkinen?

  • That Eddie guy looks so down to earth..

  • Classic Eddie Irvine

  • Eddie Irvine seems so down to earth...

  • @Marcus666Sund ive changed my thoughts.

  • good god that hair, Clarkson!!!

    1999...I was....11 years old......and Clarkson stole Howie Mandel's hair!

  • Fuck KFC Hotwings!!

  • LOL at the youngness

  • haha news report in March 2011 Put Eddie Irvine as the richest F1 driver of all with something like 170million (property investments)

  • check out jezzas hair :P

  • Eddie is a fucking boss, he just wants a pint

  • Best comment was Mika 'it always rains in north hampton!'

  • lol Eddie "its sick how much money there is in the world and i have far too small a portion of it"

Sorry mate but im sure earning over 40 million should be enough to keep ya on your feet

  • @swiftshady

Irvine's comment was the best. I was laughing. You are right, the millions he earned with Formula 1 should be enough. Since he stopped Formula 1 he became a successfull businessman and still is earning a good pay every year. He has no lack of money.

  • @swiftshady now he's filthy rich but at the time driving for Jordan, EJ would have been paying him sod all...

  • how come the bloody ad plays straight away yet i have to wait for the video .....

come on youtube sort it out !!!!!!!!!!

  • thanks for the upload! love seeing the drivers back then....

  • Mika Hakkinen is the best.

  • what year is this hehe

  • for the people asking about what year, this would have been 1995. Irvine and Barrichello are both wearing the 1995 Jordan team shirts

  • could've been 1994 aswell then

  • WOW is David wearing a Ayrton Senna T-shirt! Cool Ayrton Wins

  • wow, Rubens was so young!!!

  • Excellent clip- no chance you'd get such honesty and get such access to F1 drivers today!!!

F1 sponsors have destroyed personality and individual genius.

  • davids head is very unusual indeed..

    squarehead..hahahaha

  • Coulthard is wearing Senninha's T Shirt. Senninha was a comic character idealized by A. Senna to influence kids in a good way, using the sport he was in. Pretty great thing Coulthard is wearing it, says much about him, but puts this video awfully close to 1994.

  • @yanava i noticed that.... this has to be very early... my guess would be 1995... Coulthard didnt race at Monaco 94, Williams only ran Hill's car.. only a guess

  • is it just me or does Coulthard look taller than Clarkson?

  • Do us a favour. Put dates/year in info.

    This looks 93/94.

  • The first interviewee is a young David Coultdouche isn't it?

  • Like a lot have already said, Eddie Irvine seems to be the only 'normal' person in this entire video :) "Let's all go the pub! YAY!"

  • Haha, have an interview on a treadmill

  • Hey BBC people, It's RUBENS BARRICHELLO and not Reubens Baricello as you wrote it.

  • Thanks for letting us know! Changes have been made :)

  • Changes haven't been made its still spelt wrong.

  • @BBCWorldwide You've still spelt his first name wrong I'm afraid...

  • @BBCWorldwide Rubens, not Reubens

  • Comment removed

  • @montanhaf100 clarkson has always pronounced it barricello, too. its retarded.

  • @montanhaf100 This piece of footage is 15 or so years old.... lol

  • mika don't smile much does he

  • That's cause he's Finnish.

  • Lol at Eddie!

    And Mika rocks!!

  • Lol Irvine wants to go to the pub, good man!

  • eddie irvine is the only 1 normal in this vid

  • @MiragEdoz Why?

  • @odracirseraoseia1999

He has a great and normal thinking

  • @MiragEdoz Dude... I meant why is he the ONLY one?

  • @MiragEdoz not really, I mean, DC is probably 100 times more down to earth, Eddie were more of a playboy!

  • 3 spelling mistakes by an international corporation held in "high regard" worldwide in the info box on the right.

David Coulthard and Rubens Barrichello would probably be quite offended.

Shockingly poor effort from the BBC.

I suggest not paying the licence fee.

  • You noticed too. Annoying isn't it? Or should I say, innit? This is the way now, looking dumb in the written word is as intended by a couple of decades of deliberately crap education policies.

Don't worry though, they even taught them an excuse too: it DOESN'T MATTER as long as you get the message across.

Being concerned with good grammar is now looked upon as pedantic... sad.

  • It's funny how Irvine talks about other people not being normal.

  • This is great, when was this actually shown on BBC, was hakkinen champion yet?

  • nope

  • So it must of been around 96-97?

  • It has to be 95, because Irvine was wearing a Jordan t-shirt, and Coulthard wasn't at Monaco for Williams in 1994 because they only ran one car immediately after Senna's death.

  • Hakkinen, Coulthard, Irvine and Barichello : all down to earth:)

  • OMG! Look at the young David Coulthard, Eddie Irvine, Mika Häkkinen and Rubens Baricello!

  • Since coulthard quit i decided to be a fan of Webber, as he seems to get the best from the car constantly. He passionate about winning also. Jus wish he wasnt always having reliability issues and bad luck with a few crashes which where hardly avoidable

  • I started to discover DC more about 2 years ago, and he is great. Of course I heard about him when he entered the F1 with Williams but did not care too much about him.

Anyway, I think becoming a fan of Vettel is a better option as he has a very good sense of humor, he is down to earth and comparing to Weber he will win races and even WDC.

  • You rock Irvine, nice going man, grew some balls and told them like it is... if only more influencial pple were like you. ups 4 u

  • coulTARD secret = steroids lol

  • The f1 driver looks like a skinny version of drago from rocky 4.

  • Coulthard could kick dragos arse haha.

  • Mika Hakkinen had agreat sense of humour. A lot of people never saw his personality in his latter career.

  • loved hakkinen when i was younger

  • Note, that all these drivers Clarkson spoke to, they didn't finish in that years Monaco Grand Prix. And the year is 1995 and don't argue because it is right and I've watched this episode on TV

  • and your point is...?

  • 2. kev998 my point is that the drivers in this video didn't finsh the Monaco GP, its like he cursed them all.

  • i think u will find it is 1994

  • 1. BEATHROKZ

No. because DC, EI wern't racing in 1994 Monaco GP and if u pause at 2.44 u can c the P on EI's team logo and Jordan's engine suppiler was Peugeot for 1995

  • NERD

  • Hence the Title:

    Jeremy Clarkson's Motorworld

  • It seems pretty ironic for Eddie Irvine to complain about how much money there is in the world, and having too small of a portion of it, seeing as he is one of the wealthiest people in Northern Ireland.

  • have a laugh dude! sometimes it could be actually good for you!

  • I agree. Irvine always struck me as the pompous, smug git in the paddock. He's a prick, and not a champ.... This vid tells me he was an outsider from the get-go.

  • At that time he was a beggar comparing to what he has nowdays. :)

  • yeah wot a greedy lot these f1 assholes are! Try working for a $100 a day eddie u fuckin dickhead!

  • Not defending him but dont forget eddie irvine was paying his way in F1 at that stage, so he hadnt got a pot to piss in during that season cos it was funding his drive.

  • $100 a day means u make about $3000 a month, $36000 a year. not too bad i would say?

  • Not too bad? WTF? - Are you serious? To put that in perspective - Schumacher was paid ten times that PER DAY - yes thats right - over $300,ooo , 365 days a year, for 10 years.

If anything F1 drivers should be paid no more than $100 a day as the job is actually LESS difficult than maintaining a boring 9 to 5 job.

    The system is fucked up!

  • @mallamoozoo life isnt fair, live with it.

Also there are two reasons why they get payed a lot

    1. theres the danger element of it which ups their salary a bit

and 2. because if theyre a good driver, and one team isnt paying them enough, another team will take them. and the competition drives their price up

neither of these reasons justify the money they make but explains it... although to be honest, if i was an f1 driver, its not the money i'd be in it for, but the thrill

  • No one has been killed since Senna - its now safer than working on a construction site, mine site, oil rig, tree pruner - basically any blue collar job.

    2. The governing body could easily put salary caps like in football - but they wont because the entire F1 industry is a corrupt cartel and inflated salaries are de rigeur!

Nope - F1 drivers contribute NOTHING to society or the economy- they are just parasites of the economy actually - Schumacher's career "earnings" could feed a small nation.

  • but, massa nearly died in hungary.

  • - 6 months ago - how many blue collar workers have died in that time - 300 a day in China alone. CAPICHE?

  • @mallamoozoo so?

  • "You can fit just a little magazine between the wheel and the barrier!"
