Irvine's comment was the best. I was laughing. You are right, the millions he earned with Formula 1 should be enough. Since he stopped Formula 1 he became a successfull businessman and still is earning a good pay every year. He has no lack of money.
Coulthard is wearing Senninha's T Shirt. Senninha was a comic character idealized by A. Senna to influence kids in a good way, using the sport he was in. Pretty great thing Coulthard is wearing it, says much about him, but puts this video awfully close to 1994.
@yanava i noticed that.... this has to be very early... my guess would be 1995... Coulthard didnt race at Monaco 94, Williams only ran Hill's car.. only a guess
You noticed too. Annoying isn't it? Or should I say, innit? This is the way now, looking dumb in the written word is as intended by a couple of decades of deliberately crap education policies.
Don't worry though, they even taught them an excuse too: it DOESN'T MATTER as long as you get the message across.
Being concerned with good grammar is now looked upon as pedantic... sad.
It has to be 95, because Irvine was wearing a Jordan t-shirt, and Coulthard wasn't at Monaco for Williams in 1994 because they only ran one car immediately after Senna's death.
Since coulthard quit i decided to be a fan of Webber, as he seems to get the best from the car constantly. He passionate about winning also. Jus wish he wasnt always having reliability issues and bad luck with a few crashes which where hardly avoidable
I started to discover DC more about 2 years ago, and he is great. Of course I heard about him when he entered the F1 with Williams but did not care too much about him.
Anyway, I think becoming a fan of Vettel is a better option as he has a very good sense of humor, he is down to earth and comparing to Weber he will win races and even WDC.
Note, that all these drivers Clarkson spoke to, they didn't finish in that years Monaco Grand Prix. And the year is 1995 and don't argue because it is right and I've watched this episode on TV
No. because DC, EI wern't racing in 1994 Monaco GP and if u pause at 2.44 u can c the P on EI's team logo and Jordan's engine suppiler was Peugeot for 1995
It seems pretty ironic for Eddie Irvine to complain about how much money there is in the world, and having too small of a portion of it, seeing as he is one of the wealthiest people in Northern Ireland.
I agree. Irvine always struck me as the pompous, smug git in the paddock. He's a prick, and not a champ.... This vid tells me he was an outsider from the get-go.
Not defending him but dont forget eddie irvine was paying his way in F1 at that stage, so he hadnt got a pot to piss in during that season cos it was funding his drive.
Not too bad? WTF? - Are you serious? To put that in perspective - Schumacher was paid ten times that PER DAY - yes thats right - over $300,ooo , 365 days a year, for 10 years.
If anything F1 drivers should be paid no more than $100 a day as the job is actually LESS difficult than maintaining a boring 9 to 5 job.
Also there are two reasons why they get payed a lot
1. theres the danger element of it which ups their salary a bit
and 2. because if theyre a good driver, and one team isnt paying them enough, another team will take them. and the competition drives their price up
neither of these reasons justify the money they make but explains it... although to be honest, if i was an f1 driver, its not the money i'd be in it for, but the thrill
No one has been killed since Senna - its now safer than working on a construction site, mine site, oil rig, tree pruner - basically any blue collar job.
2. The governing body could easily put salary caps like in football - but they wont because the entire F1 industry is a corrupt cartel and inflated salaries are de rigeur!
Nope - F1 drivers contribute NOTHING to society or the economy- they are just parasites of the economy actually - Schumacher's career "earnings" could feed a small nation.
"Why doesn't F1 bring glamour to Northampton?"
"Because it RAINS a lot in Northampton!" Good old Mika

3 spelling mistakes by an international corporation held in "high regard" worldwide in the info box on the right.
David Coulthard and Rubens Barrichello would probably be quite offended.
Shockingly poor effort from the BBC.
I suggest not paying the licence fee.
