A friend of mine has lottttts of rabbits but she doesnt breed or anything she just has lots, the peta people thought she bred them went to her house and set them all free. but the dont relise when they have already been in captivity they dont know how to get their own food so its worse setting them free they will die quicker.

Rabbit meat is one of the most economical sources of protein in the world, along with insects and shellfish. If we all ate rabbit instead of beef we'd be doing ourselves, and the environment a huge favor.

This is absolutely horrible. I had 2 rabbits which lived a long and healthy life running about the garden and living in a lovely cage, but this? breeding rabbits to have for fur and meat? They used the fur and didn't eat the meat (these were wild jackrabbits, many with disease) So I guess my question is this, is all animal killing animal cruelty? My grandpa had to do it for survival. The piautes he lived near still hunted for food as did everyone else. Was this somehow wrong? Personally I don't think so... (and yes I'm well aware that what my grandpa did isn't the same as what the fur farms are doing)

I'm not justifying these fur farms but consider this when talking about the cruelty of killing rabbits... My grandfather was born in 1912 in a tiny town in the country. They had to farm for everything they had. There was no electricity, refrigerators, or anything like that. Rabbits were a huge threat to this whole town and everyones way of life due to the rabbits eating the crops. They would have a get together twice a year where they hunted all the rabbits they could. It was humans or rabbits.
