it would be also very informative if a video was made to show how to unshare folders.plus couldnt one not have to use "run" and type the network path,? can you just go to network-view computers and devices-click on the pc icon which is sharing the folder-and then the shared folder would appear?
Thanks. Very helpful as I have been trying to figure this out for myself. No luck. It seems that the video is out of focus. Maybe my monitor is the reason. Thanks.
Am having a bit of problems, every time I do that on my other computer it ask for a password and username, I never put a pass or a username and I need help on this please! =(
I have a question. I would like to make my entire C drive shareable so I can access any files through my other computer. (My old computer's screen broke, but I can access my comp with a remote desktop) But I want to be able to access those files through a simple ethernet cable. When I try to make the C drive shareable it doesnt let me, what should i do?
the username and password is the same as the username and password you use to log in on the computer with the 'sharing' folder. if you dont have a password, create one then enter the username and password when it asks.
I wached other youtube before and I say this is the best discription, it's helpfull thanks. You give clear instructions i say full star for it and it blurry cant see much so yea. Still it good thums up.
I did what you said and entered the path on my other computer to access the sharing folder but says its unable to access the network, secondly i thought sharing folders was password protected
i'm trying to install xp on this old dell c400 latitude that dont have cd rom or floppy. it only has onboard nic with a brand new hhd... how would i do this?
STFU, this guy took out time from his life to create a video to help others, for no money, and your complaing about it? if you cant even bear to spare 10 minutes of your time for someone to help you then you dont disserve to watch this video, nor be helped by it.
Thanks man that was rally helpful, but could you please make this share with VMware Workstation? like if you installed 2 OS both of them are VISTA in that VMware Workstation, and you wants to transfer your files from vista_1 to vista_2 HOW you COULD DO THAT?
thanks man.but the picture could have been clearer..not that I'm complaining or anything it was very helpful but the picture quality could have been better.
I just started working doing this type of krp, and it's very difficult, what happens when U did all that but you can't ping the other computer's ip (all firewalls were off and so were the antiviruses) both cpus are on the same router and have internet Can U Help???
Thank you computer101! I got it to work for one of them. I played around so I created 2 shared folders (REM1 and REM2). REM1 was created from Desktop computer (WinMe) and REM2 from Laptop (Vista).
My laptop pick up the REM1 shared folder from my Desktop comp. So, I'm using this one.
My Desktop comp. did not pick up REM2 shared folder which was created from the laptop. Also it did not show that my laptop is connected in the networking section from window explorer. What went wrong?
That was great! I actually learn something today. So, the next step is, how do I open this file from my other computer? Hopefully, next time you'll show us how to configure computer networking so that 2 computers can read this demonstrated sharing folder lesson. Thanks.
As far as Server 2003, yes I do but unfortunately I don't have a distribution at hand. As far as higher resolution, I'm only limited to 100 megabytes per upload here and since I decided to show the entire screen throughout this video...

two backslashes \\ then the network name of the computer where the shared folder resides.
Don't know your computer's network name?
go to START >> RUN >> then type cmd
The command prompt opens: type ipconfig /all
the first line you should see looks like this:
Windows IP Configuration
Host Name.........: (this is the computer's name on the network)
computers101 4 years ago
So on the 2nd computer:
go to START >> RUN >> then type \\(your computer's network name)\(name of shared folder)
As in this video: I'd go to another computer and type
\\mobile1\demonstration\
whereas "mobile1" is the computer's name on the network and "demonstration" is the name of the shared folder.
and that's it!
