@OlliS013 yes your grandad was a hero a great great army they were all heroes , thinh about it thousands of miles from home and fighting , same with all the american troops and everyone of them great men better than us today not sure we have the strength they had , i salute ye all
I had a relative attached to the US Airborne, who fought near here at the Grave Bridge. He helped also liberate Holland. He is not famous like Major Winters, but did meet him according to my mother. My relative won the DSO. Easy Company is the most famous unit at Bastogne and won the battle. However, the Bridge at Grave and other battles should not be forgotten either.
My dad, Albert Soto, 6th Armored, 25th Combat Eng. Batallion was there in '44/'45...outside of Wardin & adjacent hamlets...Dad received Bronze Star. Dad died 3 days ago @ 88 yrs...had a full career as an aerospace engineer, and a great husband/dad, living in Calif. He dodged all the Third Reich threw at him, but was overcome after decade-long battle w. Alzhiemers'. I hope to visit the Ardennes someday...is sacred ground...so many perished there. Dad had regular flashbacks.
your dad must've suffered greatly and must've had unpleasant flashbacks of his friends dying before his very eyes. I honor your dad for being a great man and serving in the war.
in Foy the sign is full of bullet holes still, its real kool, i live in luxembourg and i have been to most of these places, they are really nice, the monument's musiam is pretty good.
Belgians don't burn American flags. Get your facts straight. Every year around Christmas hundreds of not thousands of people gather in Bastogne to remember what happened here 63 years ago and honor the US service men who fought and lost their lives in this bloody battle
Yes, and 9-11 remembrance ceremonies are forbidden in belgium because we would not want to insult the local islamofascist crowd. Whats happening in belgium these days is outright shameful and its time you stopped ignoring it.
The Belgians have been very pro-American, Wap, but pissheads like you (and Bush) may fcuk that up. I'm a real US patriot; unlike you, I have a brain. Don't insult our friends overseas. Do you yell, "you kids get off my lawn" too?

Nice to see some Belgians remember Bastogne. Seems all your kids can do these days is burn American flags.
