  • What album is this on?

  • Fuck Tylers dopey looking daughter we want Liz.

  • @enolapayback SIR! THAT WAS THE OBJECTIVE OF THE MOVIE!

  • a favorite movie .... bertolucci beautiful

  • Liv tyler is the most beautiful women that i ever see

  • stealing beauty is definitely one of my fav's

  • Love this gem of a find . Liz Phair is the Purr-Fect lady front person , tiny , cute , sexually alluring great voice !! Seeing her next to david letterman was cute as hell !!!

  • @Drumguitarman not tiny, she's nearly six foot!

  • Trivia: this song was originally recorded for whitechocolatespaceegg in 1996-1997. Don't believe me? Ask me for a link to the WCSE Sessions in a PM and I'll send you a link. I didn't upload them though. The Unheard Music on BlogSpot did.

  • This is so good! Thanks for the upload. Good vintage Liz Phair here. Such a talented artist she is!!

  • Jerk off to LIZ Phair!!!!

  • Oh man, old school Liz and Liv. I love these two.

  • <3 liz

  • Okay everyone, please at least read the Wiki on Liz Phair before suggesting that she's sold out. It only takes a few minutes, and you will learn that her label forced her to work with the Matrix Team (Avril and Brittany's producers) for her self titled CD. She has not returned to that format specifically since. Granted, she has a far different sound these days than she did on "Exile in Guyville", but she is nearly twice as old now. Educate yourselves!

  • 1. I don't think she "sold out" I think she progressed. (Unlike Metallica)

    2. What movie soundtrack is this on? just when I thought I've heard every song she put out she surprises me.

  • @roosterIX The movie is Bernardo Bertolucci's: "Io ballo da sola" (Stealing Beauty)1996 feat. Liv Tyler, Jeremy Irons, Stefania Sandrelli, Joan Cusack, Jean Marais, Carlo Cecchi. The first time i saw Liv Tyler...she was stunning...omg no one featured Liv Tyler like Bertolucci did in this movie ever again, i think. I discoverd Liz Phair's music in this film OST also...double Epiphany!

  • All things must Change!!!! hahahaha. you silly people don't be so uptight. As long as Liz is still ripping on that guitar thats all that counts. As longs as we can all dance around the house playing air guitar. Play on!

  • Liz is the best!

  • Liz looks particularly fetching in this video. And though it is 14 years later, she still looks as sexy today. And as I write this, today is Liz's 43rd birthday. Happy BIrthday to Liz.

  • Don't know if I'd call it "selling out" so much as becoming a happier, more well-adjusted adult. Either way, she's made only two albums since 'Whipsmart' that I can listen to and enjoy parts of. This is top-40 pop pap, to me.

  • i met liz. she's a really great person. post 98 her music isn't really for me anymore, but hey we all grow and change as people. she can play music for 15 yr olds, and i can listen to some okkervil river instead of her newest album. people are people... hate takes so much more energy than saying meh. less strokes would be had if we didn't hold our idols of the past up to unrealistic expectations for future creative efforts. we'll always have 93 - 98 liz.

  • @benvolio413 this is good music, not just for 15 year olds but for everyone, get over yourself asshole

  • @benvolio413 this is great music, not just for 15 year olds but for everyone, what the fuck is okkervil rivver, get over yourself asshole

  • @alexbinnz

...I think you missed her point by about a mile.

  • @alexbinnz Okkervil River is a band, and that person wasn't referring to this song...this song was released in '96 I believe.

  • can yall understand how stunningly beautiful she is in form, voice and spirit? She pierces me completely through my soul. OMG it hurts. Her eyes are paralyzing. Also this guitar part is bad-ass. What an insanely gorgeous and dynamic being Liz Phair is. Never to be topped.

  • Wow...... I thought I had it bad for her, your taking it to another level here.....

  • this is coatail

  • Great video, great song. It is such a pity that the sound isn't good enough

  • that movie is amazing so shut your fucking mouth up!

  • possibly my favorite artist ever

  • @superH9234 then you must have bad taste you asshole

  • any one have the MP3 or MP4 for this?

  • I wish she hadn't sold out. I miss old indie rock Liz!

  • I heard she's going back to rock.

  • Here's hoping!!!

  • On her last tour,2008, she performed "Exile In Guyville" in order, song by song. Then 4 really good encore songs. She gave the fans what we wanted. A way cool show, at least in Mpls.

  • She didn't sell out, fuck off.

  • Sadly she matured as a person and the indie stuff that folks love no longer applied to her life style.

  • You're right. She realized she could make the big bucks by selling out and writing pop songs.

Tell me what's so mature and deep about these lyrics? Holding hands with you when we're out at night / Got a girlfriend, you say it isn't right / And I've got someone waiting too / What if this is just the beginning / We're already wet, and we're gonna go swimming

That is the most superficial tripe I have ever heard! Phair's old songs included true to life dialouge and intriguing narratives.

  • Typo - dialogue

And I don't expect everyone to appreciate indie rock. Pop is called such because it is popular and appeals to the masses. And sadly, the masses have lower standards for their artists. Otherwise Britney Spears would have never had a career after the Mickey Mouse Club.

  • I thought her new album was a sell-out too... until I bought it and realized that she had a song on it called "HWC" that stood for "Hot White Cum". A cute poppy song about getting it in the face on her mainstream breakout album that no doubt many parents bought for their kids on the basis of the two innocuous singles. That is pure Liz Phair -- so smart, so filthy, so subversive. If she made some money on it, good for her.

  • Thanks for the info! That's awesome. She just gained a few respect points back from me. You're right--that is totally her. After hearing the singles, I had no desire to listen to the album. So maybe she somewhat sold out so that she had a few radio friendly tunes in order to sell albums.

At least she's not as bad of a sell out as Gwen Stefani. *Shudders*

  • That movie really sucks, but Rocket Boy is a great song and that's a cool video.

  • that movie is great, with that sexy atmosphere in Tuscany's landscapes, Liv's scenes, music (the soundtrack is fantastic!)...

  • i want you liz phair

  • genial =)

la cancion que compuso con jim ellison, de material issue!!!

  • A trilha toda desse filme é FODA. Essa música não é diferente =)

  • Far out.

  • Does everyone else remember how THRILLING it was to see Liz Phair again when this came out...?

It seemed to be such a huge amount of time between this and "Jealousy", her third and final video released from Whip-Smart that passed until we ever saw her again.

Then she disappeared again until Whitechocolatespaceegg.

Only to disappear AGAIN.... until 2003.

Seems to be a habit of hers.

  • La peli me encantó.Y cuando la niñita va en tren con esta canción me parece de lo más sexy que se ha podido ver a una mujer jamás.Esos morros que van pidiendo guerra.Tiempos de skunk-liv & liz-

  • I used to think Liv Tyler was hot... but darn Liz Phair is much cuter

  • nao tem nada melhor do que pegar a estrada e colocar esse som pra rolar...

    fantastica liz phair...

  • this song is the best thing about stealing beauty

  • of course you realize this is my favorite song Liz

  • rocket boy. ROCKET BOYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

  • The summer this came out, I called radio stations obsessively trying to get them to play this song. Not even the local "alternative" station would play it.

3 years later, they sold out and became a rap station. Figures...

  • she is the most beautiful girl in the world!

  • i love song very good beautiful girl =)

  • I never even knew this song existed before now. What a shame!

  • Fantastic song . . .
