No. Once you get all the circus animals unlocked, you can blow the animal whistle and pick which place you want to go to (Farmland, Harmonica Town, Flute Fields, or Fugue Forest) and then the animals will come and it has a little scene of you riding them to whichever place.
i just had the date im at 5 hearts with him XD tht wuz fuun but when u marry him does he help with the farm work? cuz i wanna be lazy :)

You can't get them as pets but you can ride them around.

Well...you can keep wild animals as pets but not the giraffe, elephant, lion, hippo, etc.

Once you marry him, you can take him on walks with you and he runs so strangely, it's funny.
