  • Best lyrics in the history of lyrics!!! Stole a car back in the 70's just to follow this band on tour around the country, happy days!!! (disclaimer, i returned the car after the tour!)

  • "White youth, black youth

    Better find another solution

Why not phone up Robin Hood

And ask him for some wealth distribution"

  • wuggynchris, can I just say that you are the very reason that Joe was what he was to so many,a tolerant man, where you are are a nasty little racist who should drown in his own filth, the world is moving on and I am glad in the knowledge that people like you have no part in things anymore.

  • you ever wanked a dog off???

  • Oh my god. This is a true story. I was on youjizz watching porn, with like 2 college students and in the background... On the radio... Was White Man In Hammersmith Palais.

  • How can Blink 182 call themselves punk they're a million miles away from real punk like this!

  • @eightfootmidgetband they are american punk rock .. like greenday and sum 41 ect ect .. theyre two different genres and the clash and blink are great bands dont hate :)

  • @LightsedgeGaming they are "pop" not punk bands

  • @krzykanuk3 No , there american punk rock as i just said

  • 46398 views? hu r da ova 6398 peepz den lol?!

  • Like Tim Armstrong said, " and I keep on listening to the great Joe Strummer, cuz thru music, we can live forever.

    So true. RIP JS

  • plain & simple, the best song ever created!!!!

  • I'm ancient now (47), but it depresses me entirely that David Cameron liked the Clash/Jam/Smiths, "Of course we knew what it meant, but we liked the music".

Eton scum, that's what's wrong, we're run by aristocrats that have absorbed punk, at least in the old days the establishment despised us, now we're country house karaoke.

Subsumed by the upper class Borg.

I look without much hope to the younger generation to release us.

  • @bhudster10 it seems like there's always a welling of shit before the floodgates open. Look at the world today, the revolution will come.

  • It's sad to think that there's people on youtube right now listening to Blink-182 and Sum 41 and thinking "this is real punk!" :(

  • @Julez2770 amen to that man

  • @Julez2770 as i just said to the other guy , blink and sum are american punk rock , wich is a different genre , yes its sad to think that but im sure in time somone will show them what inspired the bands their listening to.

  • @Julez2770 ive just thought about what i wrote to you , and thinking about it punk isnt a genre , its a attitude.

  • True fucking musical genius, Strong lyrics with a amazing beat. The clash seem to always satisfiy my needs.

  • Hard to define your favourite Clash song, but this is definitely up there.

  • @RMSFC15 defo my fave Clash harmonica break!

  • I read this was Joe Strummers favourite clash song, he had good taste if its true!

  • @lordgriznak Yeah, apparently they even played it at his funeral. (God what a depressing sentence. Joe Strummer had a funeral. Still hard to believe he's gone after all these years)

  • Arguably the best Punk song ever

  • @Mr11MUSICMAN Arguably the best SONG ever

  • Haha I cant believe this song still almost chokes me up, RIP Joe.

  • My dad's favorite song.

  • robert elms played this on GLR the day Joe died , had to stop the car and have a little sniffle ....RIP JS

  • Paul Simonon is amazing.

  • @pinhead907 fuck yeah, untrained bass player and the best bass player of his generation.

  • top that!

  • Wish I had of been born in a better year than 95, only got to see a tribute band of the Clash, they were good but just not the real thing!

  • i like this song but living in canada wondering if anyone could tell me what "hammersmiths palais" is?????

  • @804safety A music hall in the United Kingdom.

  • @Tubernaut thak you,cheers from canada

  • If Adolf Hitler flew in today

    They'd send a limosuine anyway!

    Great, honest lyrics!

  • @poughkeepsiejohn1 Lyrics that are sadly still true in 2011.

  • @Tubernaut even more so actually. It really sucks. Rock and rap has been nuetered beyond recognition

  • @djonesing11 Very true.

  • NICE POST!!!!!

  • The lyric about Hilter is so true

  • 2 PEOPLE JUST DON'T GET IT!!!!!!!!!!

  • questa secondo me è la più bella dei clash !

  • +0p$#!+

  • 2 dicks born in nineties

  • "you think it's funny? turning rebellion into money!" fucking awesome

  • Fucking quality band, and there's still lots of quality bands about today, but i dunno this is just so BRITISH, whatever the fuck happened to that?

  • In '79 I came home and slapped this on the spinner. Room mates said "What?" Within the week this was the most spun vinyl in the house. They were what's called "classic rock" fans then. This didn't get them into punk or the Clash but they loved this tune. In my heart 2nd best Clash tune next to Complete Control.

  • One of the greatest songs ever written, performed by one of the greatest bands ever. God bless your sweet soul Joe Strummer, how you are missed.

  • I'm graduating within the week and this song brings back memories. Wish I could've seen the clash. Damn me and my youth.

  • The bass is perfect on this song.

  • PUTS THE MUSIC OF TODAY TO SHAME..REST IN PEACE JOE!!A MUSIC LEGEND!!!!

  • PUTS THE MUSIC OF TODAY TO SHAME..REST IN PEACE JOE!!A MUSIC LEGEND!!!!

  • Fucking love the clash!!! definately my fave band!!!

  • I was born in 95, what I would give to be born 40 years earlier to see these guys tour :(

  • totally agree i was born in 98 but my greatest achievement is meeting Paul Simonon the basest of the clash!

  • brings back memories

  • go out there and fight as hard as you can against the system its our time they are skint do as joe and mick says

  • @chefdeals That's right!

  • @chefdeals Too right. Those greedy upper class bastards and politicians are scum and had it easy for so long. The Police only protect the ruling class and don't care about the working man. I used to quite extreme right in my views, but now I've gone quite far towards the left. As a Working Man and Law Abiding Citizen, we will one day rise up and fight the system. I love lots of artists, but I just feel that The Clash and The Cure are the only two bands that fight for what I believe.

  • You can connvert this or any youtube clip to an mp3 at audioripit..com. Yup!

  • JOE STRUMMER FOR EVER

  • & Mikey Dread aka Michael Campbell ( of Dread At The Controls fame )! Dillinger, Jah Thomas, U Roy, I Roy, Yellowman, Black Uhuru & loads loads more!

    Mind I'm music mad!

Check out a new reggae band from Leicester called By The Rivers ( Unsigned on My Space!

  • Remember hearing this on the radio & being straight down to Tony's Records on Redcar High Street to buy it!! A love affair began!

Led me into buying Delroy Wilson : Cool Operator too !!!

  • @lol732 got me into dillinger, i assume he's the cool operator. "natty dread a de cool operator" is a bit vague... clash got me into reggae as a whole anyway

  • @louiecostello The Clash sing " DELROY WILSON, COOL OPERATOR" It was Delroy's stand out song & he did an album named COOL OPERATOR! REggae music is a vast feast! Just love it! The Clash raised reggaes profile massively!

  • @lol732 Although this song is actually critical of the reggae show in question being too pop focused compaired to the more rebelious music(the Wailers for example) Strummer had been influenced by.

  • this song is FUCKING great.

  • Absolutely timeless!!

  • 3:34 chills the bones

  • I can't even begin to describe the feeling the clash instills in me. FUCKING AWESOME, these boys didn't care about all the bull shit that came with rock'n'roll. They just wanted to get trashed and put on a good show.

  • @tmar87654 are you serious? actually, this band was ALL about a message and about politics and police brutality and whatnot. joe strummer was/is one of the most influential and socially conscious musicians of ALL time. jesus...

  • @tmar87654 i was gonna like this until you said they just wanted to get trashed and put on a good show. you must be getting them confused with the ramones or the damned or something surely?

  • @tmar87654 feel u

  • @tmar87654 I so agree

  • @tmar87654 You're really dead fucking wrong man.

  • @tmar87654

Joe Strummer isn't dead. He just isn't. Some people really do live forever in their own way. The energy goes on and on.

  • @tmar87654 actually they were pretty caught up in 'the bull shit' as most of their music was infused with political messages

  • Im glad that one of the clash's best songs is on the first album. It means that they didnt get better as time passed, they were brilliant from the start.

  • every single song from their first album is excellent mate :)

  • anyway it wasnt on their first album, but it was awsome as well :)

  • @MendrisioHardcore It was on the American release of the first album, which also included complete control, etc. We didnt get the first album here until late 1979

  • @bimsie01 true,got both,with and without

  • the new groups are not concerned with what there is to be learned , they got modern tricks , they think it's funny turning rebellion into money

  • The new groups are not concerned

With what there is to be learned

They got Burton suits, ha you think it's funny

    Turning rebellion into money

  • burton suits*

    Y'know like the clothing company?

Joe's ragging on the trendiness of that kinda fashion.

  • TE-MA-ZO

  • Great.

  • the best clash song ever.

  • assfuck

  • ..... if not better.....

  • Probably as good as it got.
