i love this song is the best, i grew up listening to CCR with them was a great childhood with their unique songs and john fogerty is unique in the history
Look If your going to get Doped Choked Smoked Roped You might as well have one big hand in it. You want Quality DopeingChokeingSmokingRopeing Make sense? of course not! It's what ya got-
Here is a quote from a Feb.08 Guitarplayer interview with JF about that very thing...
<<<I made that D-to-D tuning part of my style way, way back. I think that Proud Mary was the first song I used it on. Also, Bootleg, off of Bayou Country, and, of course, Bad Moon Rising. One of the things I can say that I discovered was tuning a Les Paul down a whole step, and playing it in standard position. That just gives you this great huge sound.
Those spiral cords were great, they kept out of the way, but these days its almost impossible to utilize a spiral cord because you usually have a pedal on the ground. Unless your amp came with a footswitch, but why worry about having a cord on the ground when the footswitch cord has to be on the floor anyways.
I don't think any of you know if it's about weed or not, and you prolly never will. Even if fogerty said publically it wasn''t, maybe privately he'd say it was.
Not only did he need a 15mtr cable, he was crying out for a hairdresser and a Fashion Guru!
But hell everybody else in the music biz was just as bad or worse at that time (think Elton John!) But the incomparable music that emerged in the 70s from countless Artists was of a standard that can only be described as Magnificent. Even the manufactured Boy bands of that era would have pissed all over the Greenday's U2's and Nickleback's of the present
the 70's were the pinnacle of rock & roll music, there are so many great artists, just look at how many were on the midnight special & you get an idea, by the mid 80's things went downhill, Michael jackson's "Thriller" was one of the last great lps to come out, and it took about a decade to realize it was over & the bands from the 50's on up were what was left & still great to enjoy..You had the grunge scene & of course rap, but today its these past artists that are still shining.
Tina Turner was the classic lets take a good selling song and speed up the tempo and change the sound in relation to the pop music style of the era and voilla make millions.
Crap.
Long live CCR long live musical sound and instrumental talent. All the sounds on this track come from the band, not a hired or synthesized orchestra or other variety of instruments played by joe schmoes who don't get credit.
i know this is an old post but i had to say it. Ike turner was a bona fide musician. thier version is comparable to what hendrix did for bob dylan's all along the watchtower. say what you want about pop, but old time tina is CLASSIC soul. she's an amazing performer, just like CCR. I'm curious as to what you think about Janis Joplin, as she definitly did many covers and played nothing but the tamborine.
janis was unique, a great blues vocalist, she did covers as well as her own..she is regarded as a legend today..there are many singers who don't play an instrument, it means nothing, if they are a great vocalist that is what counts..& both Tina & Janis were great.
lol i was reacting to cutchswife's post and now its standing here very strange and yes ccr is the best band in the world dont misunderstand me i love ccr
J'ai entendu pour la première fois "PROUD MARY" par Tina TURNER, c'était géant ! Ensuite, j'ai fais la connaissance de Creedence Clearwater Revival.... Le son, la voix rocailleuse du singer, l'ensemble est parfait.
When I first fell into the catchy "Proud Mary" intro and fresh beat on the road, I couldn't help to think the band Creedence Clearwater Revival and singer John Fogerty (what a way to spel the lyrics!) were a group of well known afroamerican musicians, but they were so young at Fantasy Records then and what an enormous jewels they recorded at the 60's, the river boat queen pumped a lot of pain but burnt its flame worldwide!
I am going to have to disagree with you. John is awesome, but can he sing the song and dance...in high heels? Both versions are great, but I think Tina put on a better show.
