I lived in Olahoma and yes Jenks and Union are two very good football programs. That being said those are really the only two schools, union is one of the biggest 6a schools and they had 7 D1 players last year, in Texas Longview which is a 4a team had just as many, and there are many other schools like that. Oklahoma High school football is not in the same league as Texas.
union redskins, or jenks trojans of oklahoma would beat any team from texas.. look em up.. they went to ohio, and beat canton mckinley by 31 points.. played clovis california ranked #1 in northern california, and beat them 2 years straight by 36 points 1 year, and by like 40 points the next year.. jenks trojans played teams from arkansas, and ohio, and same story.. those teams are great

I play for university of Houston and I know what kind of athletes texas has. Why dont u ask Oklahoma state how good of athletes we have. they know first hand.

I agree texas takes high school football serious, but to say they are the best? That would be a negative. Lol great offenses no defense. Texas is in the top 5 but not 1 2 or maybe not even 3 ohio football might be better then texas. California, florida, are the best in high school football. Texas high schools needs to start focusing on defense if they want to compete with Florida or Cali. Ive lived in houston for 10 yrs. And ive seen it for myself.

The competiton is so much better in Texas that Out of State games are a unnecesary .It would take out of state teams years just to become competitive in a Texas District.OOS teams wouldnt be able to take the brutal 16 game schedule that Texas football champions have to endure. The decent OOS teams play 3, maybe 4 decent games a year. Thats a cheap way to get a decent record every year....LOL...

Its funny texas think they play better football then any other state? Every state can argue that. What ive seen is texas schools have no defense. Good offense no defense. OVERRATED if you ask me. @123sactown Thats funny u say that because when I was in high school. My district put something like 28 division one defensive players into college. Not to mention the offensive players. 13- 5A Texas football. Houston is where the defensive teams are. Everyone looks at Southlake and teams of that nature. No one looks down at westfield, katy, pearland, Klein forest, Cy falls etc. thats where all the defensive players are. We still play offense but are defense is just as good.

Dallas Carter, Lancaster, Oak Cliff, West Mesquite, Trinity high school ( you know the team tht up until 2 weeks ago were number 1 in the country for the past 2 years). thats just to name a few. the only difference you can say is more teams where mix the spread witht he option.

TX by this yr is thinking of going into 6A that way d teams can be more split up & thier will be only 1 state champ

Its funny how grown adults cant be rational. Can Texas be given credit w/o it meaning FL and CA are being dissed. It is a known that the top 3 are TX,CA and FL. The order might change from year to year but those are w/o question the to 3. That is the elite level. The level just below that to me would be LA,MS,AL,GA,SCar,VA,OH,and PA. Then on the third level would be NY,NJ,IL and MAYBE you put IA and MN on that level as well. After that everyone else is about the same.
Tier # 3) Mississippi, Virginia, Alabama, New Jersey, South Carolina.
The tier 3 States have great talents but due to their population, they produce too few players. NY and Illinois, let's be serious now, they shouldn't be in the list.
@petion2010 I guess I put NY and IL in there due to population. My tier 2 is larger than yours. For example, I put MS and AL on that 2nd tier is PER CAPITA they produce elite talent on par with TX,CA,FL but they lack the population of the top 3. So my expanded 2nd tier leaves room for me to include NY and IL in a weak tier 3 just due to their populations.
@TexasLoneStar99 Dude, I've live in NY and they don't belong in the list at all. HS Football has no community support and very few schools in the urban area even have football program, around the 5 boroughs of NY city. Upstate NY has some football, but the talents, the coaching, and infrastructure are severely lacking. Long Island is a bit better off but they don't produce enough to put NY on the map. New Yorkers aren't passionate for it. Also, I think you should include Virginia in your list.

@TexasLoneStar99 The point is, with everything considered, low level of talents, few numbers of football athletes, few number of football programs, low level of competition, very little good coaching, poor infrastructure, lack of community support, and lack of passion for HS football, New York cannot be in that list. If you wanna see good HS football, in a State where the communities treat it the complete opposite way that NY does, you have to go to New Jersey.

I lived in Olahoma and yes Jenks and Union are two very good football programs. That being said those are really the only two schools, union is one of the biggest 6a schools and they had 7 D1 players last year, in Texas Longview which is a 4a team had just as many, and there are many other schools like that. Oklahoma High school football is not in the same league as Texas.

union redskins, or jenks trojans of oklahoma would beat any team from texas.. look em up.. they went to ohio, and beat canton mckinley by 31 points.. played clovis california ranked #1 in northern california, and beat them 2 years straight by 36 points 1 year, and by like 40 points the next year.. jenks trojans played teams from arkansas, and ohio, and same story.. those teams are great

Those texas teams u listed arent even the best. people dont think about the houston teams like westfield, klein collins, pearland, katy, klein oak, cy falls, tomball, stratford, eisenhower. all schools that go deep in the playoffs pretty much every year. I agree texas takes high school football serious, but to say they are the best? That would be a negative. Lol great offenses no defense. The competiton is so much better in Texas that Out of State games are a unnecesary .It would take out of state teams years just to become competitive in a Texas District.OOS teams wouldnt be able to take the brutal 16 game schedule that Texas football champions have to endure. The decent OOS teams play 3, maybe 4 decent games a year. Thats a cheap way to get a decent record every year....LOL...

Not to mention the offensive players. 13- 5A Texas football. Houston is where the defensive teams are. Everyone looks at Southlake and teams of that nature. No one looks down at westfield, katy, pearland, Klein forest, Cy falls etc. thats where all the defensive players are. We still play offense but are defense is just as good.

Dallas Carter, Lancaster, Oak Cliff, West Mesquite, Trinity high school ( you know the team tht up until 2 weeks ago were number 1 in the country for the past 2 years). thats just to name a few. the only difference you can say is more teams where mix the spread witht he option.

@cainepittman I disagree with you about Ohio being on the same level of play as TX,CA, and FL. I respect your opinion though and you're entitled to it. As for Ohio State beating TEXAS, all I can say is they have played 3 times and TEXAS is 2-1 against ohio state. HOOK 'EM!

tx is also d best cause of the competion, we have more programs then cal and Fl. in tx ur not gonna have a tm win state 8Xs in a row or appear in it 16Xs like that school in cal. & it dont matter how good you are in a 8th grade level, you dont get moved up to varsity and start, like that kid in FL from last yr. in tx that would b suicide, thier is a big difference in size from 8th grade to varsity. no offense to cal or fl, but in tx d competion is higher & 2 many power house programs

@cainepittman2 dont forget katy, south lake, cider hill, judson, westlake, plano, stephenville and d list goes on. we have more powerhouse tms then other states, especially then ohio. again no disrespect, but n a large state like TX & a growing population, the competion is very intense.

@cainepittman2 im sure yal do, im just saying that in a state with over 1100 programs and on averge 2-3 new schools opening every 3-4 years like in my area of san antonio which has seen 6 new programs n d last 10 yrs, its hard for any programs down here to constanly win state & always go undefated for numerous years in a row like in other states.

@cainepittman2 d problem is that with so many schools thier is 2 st champs n each class, like divison 1 & 2. southlake won lik 4 titles n d last 6yrs but not n a row, i thik they won 2 n a row until they played a diff team from another division & they lost. lake travis has 3 straight but im sure if they play a tm from d other division they can get beat. TX by this yr is thinking of going into 6A that way d teams can be more split up & thier will be only 1 state champ

I dont remember much about Permian but I do remember playing their freshman team when I went to MFHS and getting facemasked 3 times BEFORE getting the ball in one game.

To Everyone who posted....If Texas is Not the Best, then why does Texas High School Football have a movie, a book and a TV series about them, huh....That's Right Texas High School Football is the Best that's why we have a book, a Movie and a TV series............ you don't see Ohio or California High School Football in a Movie or any other state , Nope sorry just Texas because Texas is "Friday Night Lights"

@cainepittman2 , well for a school that might not have a football program...This year the pressure is on--the outcome will determine whether or not the school will still be around next season. It all depends on the success or failure of a football team that has been a benchmark institution for over a century......and "Friday Night Lights" is about a football team that has more state titles and national titles than any other school

Its funny how grown adults cant be rational. Can Texas be given credit w/o it meaning FL and CA are being dissed. It is a known that the top 3 are TX,CA and FL. The order might change from year to year but those are w/o question the to 3. That is the elite level. The level just below that to me would be LA,MS,AL,GA,SCar,VA,OH,and PA. Then on the third level would be NY,NJ,IL and MAYBE you put IA and MN on that level as well. After that everyone else is about the same.

Tier # 3) Mississippi, Virginia, Alabama, New Jersey, South Carolina.
The tier 3 States have great talents but due to their population, they produce too few players. NY and Illinois, let's be serious now, they shouldn't be in the list.

@petion2010 I guess I put NY and IL in there due to population. My tier 2 is larger than yours. For example, I put MS and AL on that 2nd tier is PER CAPITA they produce elite talent on par with TX,CA,FL but they lack the population of the top 3. So my expanded 2nd tier leaves room for me to include NY and IL in a weak tier 3 just due to their populations.

@TexasLoneStar99 Dude, I've live in NY and they don't belong in the list at all. HS Football has no community support and very few schools in the urban area even have football program, around the 5 boroughs of NY city. Upstate NY has some football, but the talents, the coaching, and infrastructure are severely lacking. Long Island is a bit better off but they don't produce enough to put NY on the map. New Yorkers aren't passionate for it. Also, I think you should include Virginia in your list.

@TexasLoneStar99 The point is, with everything considered, low level of talents, few numbers of football athletes, few number of football programs, low level of competition, very little good coaching, poor infrastructure, lack of community support, and lack of passion for HS football, New York cannot be in that list. If you wanna see good HS football, in a State where the communities treat it the complete opposite way that NY does, you have to go to New Jersey.

I just wanted to point out that i'm from the area, and the reality is that New Yorkers aren't passionate about high school sports or amateur sports. People here care about one thing, go to work and make money. If the was a noble price for workaholic, NY would have won every time.
