First world juniors are not very popular here. They don't even show them on TV as same as women's hockey... so we don't give a shit about junior hockey. Canada is great hockey nation. Hockey is everything for Canadians. For us hockey is important but we have other sports as well. In some regions of Russia they don't even know what's hockey is but freestyle wrestling is all they care about. However, Soviet Union/Russia was/is able to provide decent quality competition to Canada in hockey...

Hahahaha, that game was a political move and a predetermined rig. Judges were asked to go easo on the Canadian team. I personally saw tons of violations from canadian side unacknowledged, yet any little push Russians did resulted in "powerplay". Come on, you think Russia played seriously? They were barely moving. It's obvious to even Canadians.

First world juniors are not very popular here. They don't even show them on TV as same as women's hockey... so we don't give a shit about junior hockey. Canada is great hockey nation. Hockey is everything for Canadians. For us hockey is important but we have other sports as well. In some regions of Russia they don't even know what's hockey is but freestyle wrestling is all they care about. However, Soviet Union/Russia was/is able to provide decent quality competition to Canada in hockey...

if you want stats on world junior players making it big from Canada its 190 to 76 so i think that speaks for itself. out of the 190 ,165 of them are top solid players in the NHL. so to you Russians it (World Juniors) might not matter but its obviously matters here and for good reason.
