Lately I'm hearing so much excellent performances of ancient music...I'm so glad to discover there are sectors in our musical world where music is still considered in its deep implications. I appreciate the fantastic richness of colours in voices and the accuracy of phrasing: a perfect musical equivalent of the Baroque painting in its evocative effects of light.
The timbres of Daneman and Taylor blend seamlessly. A most lovely performance. Thanks for sending this, serenaluce, and thank you, whomakemefeel, for posting!
@HM0880 My pleasure:-) I told you that Daniel Taylor is our Canadian pride, though not promoted as he deserves it!:-) I wish somebody uploaded more stunning pieces in his rendition! The world should know about him!
@whomakemefeel Oh please upload as many pieces from this CD as possible. It's not for me as I have it:-) For the others to discover this stunning artist. And especially his version of Cara Sposa which is the best interpretation I've heard so far! Also his Ombra mai fu, which is one of the very best! Do you also have a CD "Best of Daniel Taylor"? Can you upload his brilliant " Strike the viol"? It's just perfect! Please upload for the world his "But who may abide"! It's also the best version!...
@serenaluce I am glad you sent me back here to listen. Both voices are very angelic and it is a shame that Mr. Taylor isn't promoted more. If I had the money I would be managing countertenors and bringing these unique and beautiful voices to world.
@mradaChris I'm glad you liked it again:-) Sorry, I missed your comment in the highest rated:-) It's really is a shame that such fantastic countertenor voices as Taylor, Spanos, Lemos, White... are not promoted more. Same here: if I had money I would promote true, great, unique artists so that the world can hear them and develop the finest taste in music. But for now I even don't know how to upload many gems from my CDs with these artists... It's a pity!...
Ardent emotions are so easily found in Handel's music.... the beauty of his work is definite, as was his talent.
Sometimes one wonders what a composer what thinking about when he/she composed a particular piece. Alas, we may never know, albeit that mere thought resulted in tonalities which may be heard by many, a sound that will bring joy and comfort to the soul of another. A composer that brings joy to at least one person is a successful composer. =)
As always, such beautiful music. The more I listen to Handel, the more I come to love his music. Angelic in its beauty. Thank you for this gorgeous music of Handel.
Discovered this piece after seeing Lars von Triers "Antichrist"...
Goosebumps all over my spine!
