I've owned a lot of guitars and amps in my 56 years, looking for "that tone".
I think this player did an excellent job of putting the two together. Who gives a rats' ass if it's a Squire? Close your eyes and listen, instead of scrutinizing the headstock.
I've played every guitar and amp from here to there in my day. Took me all that time to find the right combination. And even then, I'm not so sure of myself.
@Dogheadj ...This may be the sound you have been seeking! I love my Squier Standard, it is high quality all the way, really like the AlNiCo V pups. I run through a 1965 Gibson all tube amp , its a wonderfull amp, also I have a Fender Mustang I, what a great amp for $100.00, you can get any sound you want by tweeking the software, no need for pedals with the Mustang...nice talking...poppa
Got me a "black and chrome" Standard Strat out of the pawn shop recently, and really like it, better than my 87 American Strat! I know, it sounds nuts, but I think I got lucky with this one, has nice sound, had to tweak action, but is a nice guitar for modding.
I loved this guitar,it was my first guitar ever, and I'm thinking of getting it again, I want to master how to keep the tremolo in tune,Jeff Beck is a master at keeping Fender tremolo's in tune, and I want to use this guitar for Metal!!!!
my first electric guitar was a Squier Standard strat, that I have changed up alot over the years, took the pickups out and put a Duncan Little 59 in bridge and Fender Vintage Noisless in the bridge and neck
yes.. squier is fender. squier = made in asia as opposed to the mexi made ones that are 2x the cost. the squier deluxe strat is a fabulous ax for only 280.00 bucks and comes with seymour duncans ssl-1's.
i have a mexican fender...and itsok...but no better than £99 strat copy.(i have tried just about everything over the past 5 years and nothing has really blown me away )...its all rumours anyway...just play and be happy
@pmay222 Well actually, every guitar is good, its just depends on'your taste of guitars, i know a guy who plays a gibson les paul custom, he FOUND his sound, if you would give him a strat he would throw it away cuz its just not his taste of sound and playing.
so even yamaha can rock if YOU think its good!
So a guitar isnt to be judged by others.
if you DO let them judge you, your not a musiscian, your a fake-ass poser!
@lockofthedeath squier means fender strat made in asia..thats it. I find the build quality on the asian/indo made strats far exceeds the mexis. My $250.00 indo made ibanez blew away my $600.. mexi made custom strat.
@TheUKFool i've looked at hss but i also found the epiphone les paul 100 and i will probably get the
epiphone thanks any way ;)

These Squier Standards are a steal and are great guitars. To me, they play and sound better than MIM's.

is Squier Standard Stratocaster a fender?
varulv005 2 years ago
its BY fender, squier is kinda owned by Fender so fender puts his name on it, but really, getting one of those is just as good as a mexican Fender!
