RIP John Denver. I remember the day he died. I was in Israel on a Kibbutz getting drunk and partying and somebody said he had died in a plane.

This song deserves to be more well known.

John played this song solo at the Aspen Music Tent in 1995 at the last Windstar Symposium. He described how he wrote the song in Hong Kong, alone at a restaurant, on a napkin, one of those songs that just came from the sky. He played some "new" songs that never got recorded such as Wandering Soul, and Healing Time.

I did not say that he has the most beautiful voice in the whole world- just that he has a very beautiful voice. When I said 'the most beautiful voice', I didn't mean it literally- it's a matter of context.

Joe Henry's lyrics are always a stand-out no matter who he writes for. Henry fans should not miss a chance to hear "Lime Creek". A 30 minute collaboration with writer/producer/session musician extraordinaire Gary Burr committed to disc in 1996. Absolutely stunning.
