John played this song solo at the Aspen Music Tent in 1995 at the last Windstar Symposium. He described how he wrote the song in Hong Kong, alone at a restaurant, on a napkin, one of those songs that just came from the sky. He played some "new" songs that never got recorded such as Wandering Soul, and Healing Time.
Perker- since I got this same message in my personal email I assume you are replying to my comment.
I did not say that he has the most beautiful voice in the whole world- just that he has a very beautiful voice. When I said 'the most beautiful voice', I didn't mean it literally- it's a matter of context.
Besides all that, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
jrssjdca - I agree completely with what you wrote that "He gave us a treasure trove of words and music, and each listen brings along a different outlook, feeling of emotion or way to look at the meaning. " I find new meaning and joy in his music every time I listen to it. No matter how many times I listen to a John Denver song I feel like its the first time, and I am always find new inspiration.
Joe Henry's lyrics are always a stand-out no matter who he writes for. Henry fans should not miss a chance to hear "Lime Creek". A 30 minute collaboration with writer/producer/session musician extraordinaire Gary Burr committed to disc in 1996. Absolutely stunning.
Whose to say the Nightengale has any lesser voice.. I love this song so you can guess I'm an animal lover and believe as the song says we are all children of the universe.
You are right. There will never be another John Denver. He left us way too soon. God bless you John. I'm sure you left on "the wings that fly us home"
Thank you for this precious gift...!

RIP John Denver. I remember the day he died. I was in Israel on a Kibbutz getting drunk and partying and somebody said he had died in a plane.
This song deserves to be more well known.

Indeed. And who among us is a Vegan?
There's a pun afoot here.

????? That went right over my head.

You're an animal lover, suggesting that you wouldn't eat them. Also the space themed images harken to on of the closer star systems, Vega,
Vegan puns abound.

John has the most beautiful voice, and it's so evident in this song. What a treasure!

No he hasen't world most beautiful voice.
I think some other does. There is 5000 other singers, who you haven't heard yet, so you can't be sure that he has the world most "Beautiful" voice.
