Hey nutn or veri i have a question about shot show, can anybody go and look around at the booths and if so is it expensive to go because i really want to go to shot show 2012
My favorite deer rifle is my marlin 336 , 35 rem . I have had it for over 20 years , have taken many deer and hogs with it , accurate and has never let me down ! Freakin Awesome Rifles !
@seatsniffer100 Marlin 39A are extremely well built. They're reliable and accurate. Only thing I do not like about it is its heavy. Im only 16, and when im standing up shooting a full magazine down range (19 LR shots), my arm gets tired >.<
Nutn how are you been a while. Do you like Marlin or Ruger? Would the 336 30 30 be okay for Bear in the event? cause it's a great Deer Gun. I'm up in the air between that and the Ruger 30.06 Do you prefer Level or bolt action. PS Justin G put together a
Hey nutn, I have seen this vid before, just watched it again as a reference. I will be coming to a buying decision in the near future, just wondering what your thoughts are on the X7 series. Will we see a no BS review on the X7 sometime?, just a thought. Anyway, as a long time subscriber, Keep up the good work!!!!
Marlin is great, but it would be even more great if they would produce also left Handed rifles and at least one lever action rifle in .17 hmr with a pistol grip. VG
@bjpw1234 marlins level of quality is very high... i own 3 of them 336c 30/30 , 336w in 35 rem and the good ole marlin 60. i have no complaints with any of these guns. they will be heir looms for my grand kids 50 years from now.
Thanks for the info Kyle, but I got one more question. I thought of onother thing to consider, I don't really know the ballistics of these older cartridges but What about .45 Long Colt? I'm pretty sure it's probably more on the underpowered side, compared to the.45-70 but what it? Also, I reload so between .45 LC and .45-70 what would be easier to find used brass?
Now, I'm ussually a AR15 and a 1911 kinda guy, but I'm looking into gettin a levergun and mabye even a nice wheel gun. But I don't know the first thing about either. I'm trying to decide between 30-30 or 45-70, I'm lookin for somthin that will take down a bear, but will take out a deer without tearin it up too bad, but I'm also lookin for range and accuracy. Anyone who responds, thank ya very much.
@evansz95 Get the 45-70, use the really heavy loaded Buffalo Bore ammunition when loaded for "bear" LOL, and use perhaps the hornady FTX or just cast lead bullets for deer, remember that tons and tons of deer have been shot with 12 gauge and not torn up too bad, and a 45-70 is much smaller than that.
I would put a 1-4 trijicon accupoint scope (Awesome AWESOME scope, illuminated, on 1 power the target aquizition speed is insane, and 4 power is all you need with a 45-70, that will easily(Cont.)
@evansz95 (Continued) that will easily be a great under 100 yard gun (You might be able to reach out farther than that, it will depend on how the hornadys react in your specific rifle, but from what ive found, they will prolly be effective to 150, for sure 100)
Huzzah! Shootersridge, has announced that mid May 2011 they will be releasing 25 round single stack magazines for the marlin 70PSS (papoose), and the 795! also are compatible with the old series 70's and 995. unfortunately they don't accept pre-orders, so we'll just have to be patient ^^. I bought a 795 in February of 09, terrific rifle, superb accuracy.
do you know if i can buy a gun in the states ad ship it to the uk. because the prices i cant believe/ it would cost me more to buy a sling shot here than buy a rifle there
Nearly 20 years ago my first rifle I was ever given to be my own was a Marlin 39 lever action. It was also my first that failed to feed after a trip to Marlin and 2 gunsmiths. It was also my first to get rid of.
I am so happy my Father, may he rest in peace, purchased a Model 39A back in 1953 and was the rifle he taught me to shoot with. I still have the rifle and it still shoots as good today as it did when it was new.
I saw this video when it first came out and kept talking about it all year. Just opened my brother's Christmas gift to me. Marlin 795!!! Thank you Nutnfancy for giving us the heads up on a great rifle and the factory rebate!
nut' fancy, did you say ' I would like to get one of those and try them in the projects. Curiously I'm wondering what projects are you talking about here, because I don't recommend going to the real project's for obvious reasons. Mainly because you would be outguned even if you brought 10 marlons with you.
i like how the 795 is so comparatively cheap at big 5, less then half the price of a 10/22. havent got one yet, and no set plans on it, but its a possibility
Marlin makes the best guns out their for the money and the average hunter or shooter best lever actions made and rimfires and the bolt actions are great guns for the price
@miketastic97 Yup, Remington is closing the marlin plant and moving production to New York, and I think Kentucky for the bolt actions. Really sad!!!!!
I'm glad I don't live near nutnfancy,( one and a half years wait for a 39A). I just went to my local gun shop and he ordered a 39A for me right there.
HAHAHA your enthusiasm is crazy! Did you just grab that gun and lay it on the ground? LOL this is funny but you know what? Thanks. Passion is what makes sports like firearms keep going & not stall. There are enough of us Americans that do not understand how we got here--or how we're still here, able to enjoy our choices. I'm still dreaming of that Marlin Model 925 with wood stocks. Sad thing is I'm broke at the moment... but things'll look up soon enough :) My trigger finger's itchy
That 1895SBL is freaking awesome! A combination of nostalgia and modern ingenuity. Looks very tactical. I bought the 336BL earlier this year and it has quickly become one of my favorite rifles to shoot. I love the wood grain in the laminated stock, looks very sharp. Since Marlin does not offer the rail on the 336 like the 1895SBL (why not?) I chose to invest in a shorter rail for my 336 from EGW (Evolution Gun Works) and I've added a Bushnell Trophy red dot model BH730135 which is a great fit.
@SerialCapitalist The red dot is compact and it's perfect for the range of the rifle 100-175 yards. Beyond that range I would opt to pull out the 30.06 or .308. Not to say that the 30/30 will not reach beyond that range beacuse it clearly will, I'm just not skilled enough with this rifle to feel comfortable with taking that shot. I would highly recommend the 336BL and I look forward to receiving my 1895SBL!
Hey Marlin.... Remember your 1894P?... 44mag with a 16inch ported barrel... yeah?
OK, bring it back in stainless and blued.. Give it that large loop, ditch the porting, and for heavens sake, get rid of that 1:38 twist rifling you chamber 44 mag in.. give us the same 1:20 twist used on the 45 colt chambering... Basically the GUIDE GUN on the 1894 platform..Cant understand why i cant buy a 44 mag guide gun ? That 1894P filled so many roles.. Hogs, Deer, Defensive,Police,Truck gun...
@mascamcan1 No, Americans having guns is freedom for Americans. Ever noticed a police officer bad mouthing, and literly trying to intimidate an armed civilian into giving up their rights? I didn't think so. And i bet government is very cautious about what they do in heavily armed communities.
FIrst of all, the new youtube comments layout sucks!! Secondly, I bought a Marlin 795 based on this videos info, and I love it!
Also, the Marlin rebate for 2010 is not $35, as stated by Troll, it is $25 dollars. Just FYI. I hate it when salesmen lie to me in order to make more sales! Just be honest!! I'm still happy with a $25 rebate, just disappointed in 'the Troll'.
Marlin Firearms Co., a Connecticut gun manufacturer founded in 1870, will close its North Haven plant and lay off 265 employees.
A statement from Remington Arms, the North Carolina firm that owns Marlin, said the plant will close in mid-2011. The statement did not say whether the work will move, or be absorbed into other plants owned by Remington.

@isnteveryoneanao Marlin is not shutting down. Only moving. They will relocate to the old Rem plant in Ilion, NY and possibly some of it will go to Mayfield, KY. Marlin rifles will still be produced for now anyhow.
@rolothecuban I know how you feel, I have a papoose and as much fun as it is, constantly reloading the mags is a pain. I am thinking about getting a 795, much more affordable than the 10/22...the local store has it for around $135 pre-rebate, that includes the background.
Picked up a Marlin XL7 in 30-06 because of this video.
Like it a lot so far Its my first bolt action and its most likely going to be used strictly for learning and range fun. I've been thinking about free floating the barrel and possibly glass bedding the receiver. I'm not sure if either are necessary as it has a synthetic stock. The one thing that dose seam a bit cons-earning is the two pillow rests at the front of the stock that put slight pressure on the barrel. I'm new to rifles.
However, I do love lever actions. The tactical .22's are nice for the mods and all that, I think I might like that too, but my dad has an old lever action .22 and it's my favorite out of his collection. Also, Nutnfancy, I would love to see some table tops on .22 pistols( and actual firing as well as the Marlins), as I am interested in them as well. By the way, I appreciate your time devoted to enlightening us all with your very informative videos. Thank you very much.
One thing that I see with a lot of .22's is jamming. That is my main concern. The SIG SAUER( sorry if I misspelled that) 522 seems to be amazing. It eats round after round without any complications. I'd like to see a bench review of some of these Marlins to determine if they go through rounds as smoothly as the SIG 522. I'm in the market for a gun, was gonna go bigger caliber capabilities but with today's economy I'd rather not feel guilty about shooting hundreds of rounds in one session.
I have been wanting to buy a .22 for a while. BUT, I want one that is very, i mean VERY, light in weight... something that I can take to the woods along with a pack full of gear. Semi auto would be nice with a 10 round mag. ANY SUGGESTIONS???
THANK YOU NUTNFANCY, yet another gun review... oh! by the way, my wife HAYES YOU! hahahaha... just kidding
I saw a Marlin 70P at gunbroker (same take-down as PSS but with wood stock and black-finished barrel). The 795 is an amazing value and I would get one RIGHT NOW if my living situation allowed it. Still, the take-down capability of the Papoose is something I see as a good thing. Just need to figure out at what I'm willing to pay down the road, and I think it'll lean toward the Papoose.
Not now, though... Dyin' a little on the inside. Oh well, pressing on. On to more SHOT.
Nutnfancy has to be busy as hell dude with all the videos he makes and trips he makes for the videos .... good work dude im always gunna be a fan ....
I just wouldnt like a rail mount on a Lever action .. theres no point .... those guns are great with iron sights and more traditional ... it just wouldnt look right with an ACOG or EOTECH HOLO sight on a damn lever action 30-30 haha ?
I didn't see a 981T tube fed bolt action 22. I hope they are still making them. I got one last year and put a 4X scope on it. It's sure accurate. I love Marlin guns. Great Vid Nutin' - THANKS!
Bring back the 1894 P Marlin! Great defensive short carbine in potent calibers. Winchester stopped making all 90s including their equal trapper model. We've no good short defensive lever guns left short of that 20" rifle style. The carbines had 16" bbls and short stroke full length mag tubes. I'd love to see another shorty with one of those big loop levers on board, come on Marlin! :-) great review tnp, I am a fan of their rifles, but some were short ran.
I have purchased Xr7 in 270 caliber and it came with 3x9 scope under $450.00 And I can't wait to fire it! Stuck a bi-pod on it also. 270 reported to shoot flatter than the 30-06. and has a reported higher fps than the 308. shot the 308 in the military and like I said before looking forward to shooting this baby. Maybe I'll record the experience and post it.
Hey, are these tube fed 22lr rifles really that popular and reliable? I looked at a Savage 64FVXP that has a detachable mag that holds 10 rounds, and from what I know savages are pretty damn accurate and reliable.
That stainless bolt action Marlin looks drop dead gorgeous. I'm a sucker for classic bolts and you've introduced me to another model. Good looks Nutn.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Not a fan of nutnfancy, his info usually sucks and he is aflicted with Rambo-itus
(a lack of decernment of practicality based on hollywood concepts of "survival") . but i do agree that marlin makes a wonderful rifle and i hope marlin comps nutnfancy some swag for doing such thorough job on their product line . i'm off to buy that $89 deal right now
i dont agree with crabtrap, i believe nutnfancy and crew are very informative. ive enjoyed most of his videos, and im confidant the TNP is untouched by "ramboitis." but props to crabtrab for constructive criticism. most people drop some bombs when they dont agree with someone. good to see
@IffyTrigger if you camo duracoat everything in your shed, you have Rambo-itus . but thx for realizing I was not trying tpo be a dick . I just think people like NTF and yankeeprepper give out advice that may get a noob killed (mostly Yankeeprepper does that) . Ithink i would like NTF better if he dropped the SHTF charade and just focused on modding fun gear and reviews . ps i vouch for the fact that the marlin 39 is badass ,dont use 22shorts cause they tend to jam ,
What I'd describe as Rambo-itis is the kinda attitude you get from Great Many guys on YT: "I'm THE tactical guru, I'm masterful with my guns and will own everyone on the range every day"
Never-ever did I hear this crap in TNP vids, did you? A quote would be more than welcome lest you look like an AE dipshit.
Additionally, and this is a Very Important fact, TNP videos are NOT training videos designed or intended to teach the viewers combat tactics, gun drills, etc.
@jake262144@jake262144 lets me be clear, his gun reviews are fine and his detail on duracoating is fine . it is when he pretends to instuct on diseaster scenerios that he fails WAY short like him speaking on "fighting knives" for one,it's are chair nonsense . you DONT LIKE IT TO GOD DAMNED BAD! and i don't give a shit if he duracoats his whole fucking family! it is a sign of gear lust and has no practical basis for a preparedness video
@Hhound "But IMO its to make us THINK" yes, and i think his preparedness info is questionable at best . you miss my point though so to bad.i really don't mind hid dura coating its when he adds that to his SHTF info as if he has any he is an "expert" . i know experts, and brother he aint one . he does do a nice paint job though
OK,you want quality advice on Survival read or watch info by Tom Brown Jr . You want info on Preparedness (not the same as survival) such as food prep ;Wendy Dewitt . utubers notables include :dsarti1 , survivalboards (solid info with out the bravado bullshit) . sorry i don't train as a hobby like you, this topic i take serious to my and my family ,you wanna get yourself killed by poor info ,be my guest . agian NTF's rifle reviews are fine though . so there is your positive suggestions tough guy
its only vague because you're clearly a newcomer to the topic . let me guess you have all the new BDU's and 20 worthless gadgets hanging off your shitty yugo sks like your seal team 6 . i seen this happen a million times (cold war,WACO,Y2K) guys get all amped up and will buy into any BS that makes then feel like a "militiaman",the info is usually based on some hollywood desaster flicks and "i would do this" factor . agian his gun reviews and vid Q are fine . get a clue and maybe a girlfriend
My father has a Marlin in .444, and I have had the scope piece cut my forehead on multiple occassion...

@spikekrossa their closing the marlin plant?
miketastic97 1 year ago
@miketastic97 Yup, Remington is closing the marlin plant and moving production to New York, and I think Kentucky for the bolt actions. Really sad!!!!!

You missed the GBL! The Marlin 39 is on my list as well as the GBL

SerialCapitalist 1 year ago

I'm new to rifles.
tecknomage 1 year ago
However, I do love lever actions. The tactical .22's are nice for the mods and all that, I think I might like that too, but my dad has an old lever action .22 and it's my favorite out of his collection. Also, Nutnfancy, I would love to see some table tops on .22 pistols( and actual firing as well as the Marlins), as I am interested in them as well. By the way, I appreciate your time devoted to enlightening us all with your very informative videos. Thank you very much.
HecateEnthroned666 1 year ago
One thing that I see with a lot of .22's is jamming. That is my main concern. The SIG SAUER( sorry if I misspelled that) 522 seems to be amazing. It eats round after round without any complications. I'd like to see a bench review of some of these Marlins to determine if they go through rounds as smoothly as the SIG 522. I'm in the market for a gun, was gonna go bigger caliber capabilities but with today's economy I'd rather not feel guilty about shooting hundreds of rounds in one session.

bas949 1 year ago
I saw a Marlin 70P at gunbroker (same take-down as PSS but with wood stock and black-finished barrel). The 795 is an amazing value and I would get one RIGHT NOW if my living situation allowed it. Still, the take-down capability of the Papoose is something I see as a good thing. Just need to figure out at what I'm willing to pay down the road, and I think it'll lean toward the Papoose.
Not now, though... Dyin' a little on the inside. Oh well, pressing on. On to more SHOT.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Not a fan of nutnfancy, his info usually sucks and he is aflicted with Rambo-itus
(a lack of decernment of practicality based on hollywood concepts of "survival") . but i do agree that marlin makes a wonderful rifle and i hope marlin comps nutnfancy some swag for doing such thorough job on their product line . i'm off to buy that $89 deal right now
crabtrap 1 year ago
i dont agree with crabtrap, i believe nutnfancy and crew are very informative. ive enjoyed most of his videos, and im confidant the TNP is untouched by "ramboitis." but props to crabtrab for constructive criticism. most people drop some bombs when they dont agree with someone. good to see
IffyTrigger 1 year ago
@IffyTrigger if you camo duracoat everything in your shed, you have Rambo-itus . but thx for realizing I was not trying tpo be a dick . I just think people like NTF and yankeeprepper give out advice that may get a noob killed (mostly Yankeeprepper does that) . Ithink i would like NTF better if he dropped the SHTF charade and just focused on modding fun gear and reviews . ps i vouch for the fact that the marlin 39 is badass ,dont use 22shorts cause they tend to jam ,
deep in the action though
crabtrap 1 year ago
@crab
OBJECTION!
"if you camo duracoat everything in your shed, you have Rambo-itus"
How? Why? Because you say so?
Nutn likes the coyote-brown color and duracoats HIS OWN gear, it's his fragging business, mate.
"his info usually sucks"
How does it suck exactly? Is it inaccurate, biased, non-sensical or what (too long for your attention-span?)
Some quotes to prove your claim, please.
jake262144 1 year ago
What I'd describe as Rambo-itis is the kinda attitude you get from Great Many guys on YT: "I'm THE tactical guru, I'm masterful with my guns and will own everyone on the range every day"
Never-ever did I hear this crap in TNP vids, did you? A quote would be more than welcome lest you look like an AE dipshit.
Additionally, and this is a Very Important fact, TNP videos are NOT training videos designed or intended to teach the viewers combat tactics, gun drills, etc.
Failed to see that, did you?
jake262144 1 year ago
The only individuals ACTUALLY learning are TNP Crew doing the running and gunning.
If an imbecile tries to emulate them without the proper training, he is bound to get in trouble, sure. The really bad and nasty kind...
Did you fail to hear Nut's numerous appeals to common sense, gun safety and developing a skill-set you can depend on as well?
The vids which ARE meant to teach you something are those gear-related: how to assemble your first-aid kit, etc.
Don't see a lot of risk here :)
jake262144 1 year ago 2
@jake262144 @jake262144 lets me be clear, his gun reviews are fine and his detail on duracoating is fine . it is when he pretends to instuct on diseaster scenerios that he fails WAY short like him speaking on "fighting knives" for one,it's are chair nonsense . you DONT LIKE IT TO GOD DAMNED BAD! and i don't give a shit if he duracoats his whole fucking family! it is a sign of gear lust and has no practical basis for a preparedness video
crabtrap 1 year ago
@jake262144 lol good one
xBADxB4NDITOx 1 year ago
If your house was pink and purple and that wasnt your thing... wouldnt you repaint it? (extreme I know).
Duracoat's tuffness is a big advantage. and I can also see someone liking his "kit" to have a uniform color scheme.
Also.. HE LIVES IN A DESERT AREA.! An Amazon Jungle themed camo would be a more "Rambo"/unrealistic choice of coloration.
U totally FAIL on bringing up duracoat and color.
He can go abit farther than I would.. on say... his Urban Survival vid.
But IMO its to make us THINK
Hhound 1 year ago
@Hhound "But IMO its to make us THINK" yes, and i think his preparedness info is questionable at best . you miss my point though so to bad.i really don't mind hid dura coating its when he adds that to his SHTF info as if he has any he is an "expert" . i know experts, and brother he aint one . he does do a nice paint job though
crabtrap 1 year ago
Wow, hear that dudes?
Crabtrap knows experts.
EVERYBODY, CRABTRAP KNOWS EXPERTS!
Expert Excrement Expeditors? =D
Funny thing, Nutnfancy never claimed to be an expert bro, and you are being extremely vague in your criticism.
Care to elaborate on what was so poor in the USK videos?
You see, it would be considered public service if you provided valid and useful input which might help to save lives in a disaster.
Would earn you some good rep for sure.
